Now in Sea Isle City each house lost would fit in the "millions of dollars lost" even though those $2million houses are worth maybe $500k and the tiny sliver barrier island 50x80' piece of land $1.5million

THE JERSEY SHORE HAS BEEN GREATLY RUINED BY GREEDY POLITICIANS AND GREEDY WEALTHY PEOPLE
It’s called Diamond Beach and they are NO real diamonds… they just them tumble them
I lived in Belmar as a kid
Best Striped Bass fishing ever!
👍
Great video. Just a correction. Fun Pier was not bought by Morey's in the 60's and wasn't renamed until much later.
Thank you and thank you so much for the correction. I'll have to check where I got that information but I apologize and thanks again!
4 cents! Dang
The smell...
Wow this is wonderful ❤ thank you ❤
Thank you ❤️ so glad you liked it ❤️🙂
Thank you... for making... this video... It was... very informative... You have... a very... unique... delivery...
I’m trying to watch this video on TV. I do understand that you are trying to be articulate but the gaps in the speech is absolutely maddening. Why do you have to say three words and then stop ?
There's a limited number of these great historical images so I try not to rush through and to give them the screen time I think they deserve. Sorry about the gaps.
Thsnk you for your video.
Thanks for watching! 🙂
Great niche story. Thank you for sharing your knowledge!
Thank you! So glad you liked it! 👍
Mickey Mouse house !!!!! I'll never forget that.
What a incredible history on the jersey shore
Thank you! So glad you liked it! 🙂

NO FATSOs
I lived here for about 14 years, moved on an impulse to Surf City in the late 90s, hopped around on the island for several years, winter rentals, then got a year round rental on the bay. Miss it so much, sorry I ever left.
Sounds nice 🙂
Good stuff! If you enjoyed this, Peter Slack has done two more specific documentaries on Island Heights and Mantoloking. Stay awesome!
Thank you! So glad you enjoyed it. I just checked out Peter's videos...absolutely exellent! Stay awesome! 🙂

I love the photos and the history and the music. ❤❤
Is the Monmouth Hotel still there at Cape May ?
I've never heard of Monmouth Hotel in Cape May. There was a Monmouth Hotel in Spring Lake that was originally built in 1875.
@@historyofthejerseyshore Ty That's the one I stayed at
👍👍👍
1988. I worked on the Pier ... I remember working in the Funhouse and parties every night. 😅❤
And now it is a relative of Avalon, ridiculously expensive real estate, and no community. I was a resident for nearly 40 years and left, families can no longer live year 'round, they all go offshore to afford an actual home. You can romanticize all you want, the entire island has changed, hey, Jay sold Wonderland because he declared BK a few years go, and now it will become a big condo complex.
Sure seems like us common folk are getting squeezed out.
Karine Fall
And now it looks horrible. Sad
Wonderfully done and very informative. Good job!
Thank you! I'm so glad you liked it. 🙂

It was once a nice place.... NOT so much anymore..... SORRY ta say
I'm hearing about this with a lot of places. WTH is happening to the Jersey Shore?
My family had a summer home in the Villas for years. We went to the beach in Cape May, but our nights were spent in Wildwood. So many happy memories. Hunts pier was really something special - unique, one-of-a-kind rides and experiences that came pretty close to a disney-level at the time. The Jungle boat cruise, whacky shack, Golden Nugget and Pirate Ship were incredible. Morey's piers were thrilling and had really great rides for the day. I never realized just how old the Jack Rabbit coaster actually was until seeing this video. Wish that some of these things had been preserved like the motels, but it's still good to know that some of the things from those days have survived and are still thriving. Thanks for the vid and the memories.
AB•seh•kahn?? It’s ab•SEE•kin Shame on you
No mention of the schooner Lucy Evelyn beached behind Bay Village in Beach Haven. Lost to a fire in the winter.
This is way i dont swim in lakes or the ocean 😅
A+
Thank you!

My Brother-in-laws Father had a chance to buy much of Point Pleasant . He declined, and thought it was just worthless swamp land.
A lot of it was. It would have taken a lot of money to transform our it into a beach resort community

Growing up we had our beach house in Harvey Cedars. Nothing has compared since then.
Oh man...must have been great!!!
80 % of my life was spent in Pt. Pleasant Beach and the Jersey Shore. Left in 2019. Great Memories !

New Jersey should be it's own country !
Love the series. However styrofoam boogie boards were not on the market in the 60’s. Invented in California in 1974.
Thank you, Well done and a definite must for not only for the shore people but also a great guide for all residents. Peace,Rocky
Thank you, Rocky! That's an awesome compliment! So glad you enjoyed it. Peace to you also! ☮
Imagine how SHOCKED the Victorians would be if they had to see today's "swimwear" for women - with their bottoms fully exposed! I often wonder how much time women and men in the 18th & 19th centuries wasted in putting on and taking off their elaborate clothing and accessories! And how hot they must have felt when the weather became suddenly warm!
Meeting somewhere in the middle would be nice. JMO but leaving something to the imagination is attractive. 🙂
It's sad they killed the shark too dude the deaths I understand but his victims wouldn't want revenge to happen to him. It's not the Shark's fault he was just hungry and needed to eat something his regular food was likely scarce and he was half starved and was desperate to eat something. At least the dog survived too.
So that Cape May hotel just randomly burned down? Wtf. Was it built out of plywood?
The place is no way what it was in the 70’s and 80’s. Bad crowd. And to be avoided, I agree.
