😮some gorgeous pieces in that trip!
Haven't seen you on any agate hunts for a very long time Phil, hope everything is ok, I'm missing your adventures.
Tallk aɓout dedicated, I like the walk and find the ones already free. Really enjoying your vids. I'm definitely smitten with this hobby. 😊
This was a year ago, surely you have cut some open by now.
I feel a road trip coming up...
Wow ive seen a few at my local River I'm gonna check them out soon white bait season
I miss being there😢
Nice content. Tag us all when you do a cutting vid
Loved the last one
You keep talking about cutting them open…c’mon now, we want to see! 😜
Hey Phil! Just wondering if you sell/trade any of your agates. I'm mainly looking for whole nodules for lapidary/cutting. If not then that's totally fine! Keep on hunting brother!
Do you plan on cutting any agates in your videos?
Mate what a trip that was, man you have crazy good luck.
Phil it's Tim from the danseys pass lavender farm. I've lost your number and would love to get in touch sometime soon. Come for a drive and visit you. Send me you number x
Crazy finds! Those are some big chonky agates!
Awesome agates, that one at 3:07 is awesome, bet it would look cool cut and polished!
I loved that second blue one. Would love to see inside.
Beautiful landscape and awesome finds
The little blue windows peaking out of that first agate were awesome! Almost reminds me of Montana Moss Agate!
You find such big ones here! I've only managed to get to Birdlings Flat, the agates there are tiny bits of chalcedony but some have interesting waterlines. They're jelly beans in comparison, I need to get out and explore more!
Okay the next time you gonna cut open for us yeah ?
Ha ha i also tell myself that 🤣
Phil the agates in your area are very beautiful ! As well as the river. Thanks for taking us along. Enjoyed watching😊
Thankyou i really appreciate hearing that
I hunted on the Rangitata last November but only found some fragments of agate. I would love to join you one day as there are very few places I can get onto the river with my little car. When I was there the seagulls were nesting and didn't like me being there at all. They did chase me towards an agate so that was nice of them :D Most of my Rangitata agates came from the Agate Orphanage :)
Very nice! Do you ever cut them?
I havn't started cutting them yet but plan to do that which ill be posting in futer videos 😊
@@philfromcave awesome! Excited to see it man, you find some monsters out there
Wow! Fantastic big Agate.😊👍
nice videos thank you,
Thankyou 🙂
Also I need tips and places to find agate if u have some :)
The Rangitata river is probably the best place locally. It takes a lot of time and patience to get going. Because you could be searching over the riverbed all day and not find anything. So you just have to be persistent and keep going and once you find a few, you start to know what to look for. But even if you dont find any agates straight away there are still lots of really cool, interesting and colourful stones to collect. So yeah the Rangitata river or the beach anywhere between the Rangitata river and birdlings flat will have agates. Its a really cool hobby that can be really rewarding so good luck and hope you find some cool rocks 😁👍
Thanks :)
Hi Phil, do you know Ian Fraser from DOC? He is my dad
Hey. Yes i know yr dad, i work with him. 😊
Very enjoyable to see this. Great day!
Appreciate that thanks mate. Yeah it was a real buzz 🙂
The large agate looks like agatized coral to me. You can see the tubes on the side. Still a great find! Beautiful!
Wow!
Hey mate thanks for Yr videos, me an my lil daughter must appear to any public that were stealing rocks lol fml from the river but in reality I'm just uber taxis for rocks to my house wen she finds one finally or me I can't wait see the look on her face, without Yr vids she'd want be on ipad so cheers pal, shit I even thought we found a fossil of what not sure, so I sent a pic to mamlambo via email and his response was lol interesting rock lol hahaha chur chur
Its a cool hobby to get the kids into ay. Gets them into the outdoors and yeah like you say, off the device's. Thanks man. Good luck with your future finds 🤘
Omg that huge Agate, it's so beautiful
Its cool ay. I felt like I'd won the agate lotto. Love to hear you're enjoying my vids Nicola. That moment when you first find a cool agate just has to be shared.
Omg that Agates just keep getting better, beautiful green mossy Agate, so many beautiful Agates.
Hubby has a question on whether there's trout in the river. We are from Hawkes bay
Yeah there are trout. I find some nice deep back washes and holes when Im rock hunting, and often see trout. Its an awesome river!
@@philfromcave oh that's good to hear, my hubby loves trout fishing, and of course that works out well for me. I really enjoyed your video, what an awesome river
I'm watching this on my smart TV, and commenting on my phone. Omg I love that second Agate. So mossy
You say the rocks you find are cool, but you're cool! Lol you sound like me when you find stuff. I literally had a heart palpitation yesterday when i found my first decent lake superior agate!🎉 im new to rockhounding.
Takes one to know one 😉 Im the same. I love that moment when you first find one ay. Its like you've found a gift from nature that you still havnt opend yet and more surprises to come when you polish or open it up. Its such an awesome hobby to have, that also gets you outdoors and exercise and doesn't cost heaps. Thanks for your message its really cool to read 😊
I want to see these cut as well.
really cool finds Phil!! would love to see them slabbed
Thanks. Man. They're coming!
Wow cool finds. You need a backpack or something. I hope i find some cool agates. Should i just look at every white rock?
There's some stunning pieces there. Well done
Cheers mate 😁
Massive FOMO watching this 🤣🤣
Ha ha. Get into it 😊
Awesome finds, your workmate will probably want to come with you next time 😆
Thats already been decided. Ha ha
Good finds there pink ,moss ,,nice phil
Cheers man i was pretty happy with them
Nice pink one!
Im guessing the area mostly produces white agate? Still great to know there's somewhere closer to go and look
Hi Phil i noticed your gorgeous border collie pup in previous episodes (Rocks) does he not come out with you on your travels?
No i sold him he was the son of my old dog tux. I do miss him though he was an awesome wee boy. He went to a really nice family on a lifestyle block with another border collie.
Oh man Phil you are the luckiest bugger ever do you know how many trips my sisters and I have done to the west coast and only occasionally find greenstone after days of looking those pieces you found were awesome, do some more episodes on greenstone hunting that is really popular but hardly any decent videos out there to watch.
Cheers mate. Ive had plenty of days of finding nothing aswell just get lucky sometimes. But they are there so just have to keep looking
Hey mate thanks for ya videos ,me and my daughter have been trying our luck lol cor blimey you've a great eye,my new thing is Uber taxis for rocks from river to my house lol
Really enjoying your trips Phil thanks for sharing I am new to rock hounding and finding it very addictive, can you start showing some of your pieces cut at the end of your videos that would be really cool.
Cheers mate. Yes i intend to start doing the cutting vids once i get the gear to do it myself. Ill also post vids of the finds from previous videos once cut.
