Im guessing the area mostly produces white agate? Still great to know there's somewhere closer to go and look

Hi Phil i noticed your gorgeous border collie pup in previous episodes (Rocks) does he not come out with you on your travels?

No i sold him he was the son of my old dog tux. I do miss him though he was an awesome wee boy. He went to a really nice family on a lifestyle block with another border collie.

Love watching your videos! Amazing finds, can't believe agates of these sizes are just laying around. I hope to go hunting in better places for some of my own one day. My first agate I found was at Birdlings Flat but it's tinyyyy lol, how long do you usually spend out on the rivers?

The hours fly by. I usually stay most of the day if its good weather. Sometimes i dont find anything and sometimes i have a really lucky day. But they can just be anywhere so you just have to keep looking. The coast from the Rangitata mouth all the way to birdlings flat will have agates. To find the bigger ones i search where the biggest stones are. I Think once you find a few then your eye will naturally pick them up more easily. But they are mostly pretty obvious amongst the grey wacky if you pass you eye over one.

Hi could you show some cut open and polished, some time.

Im definitely going to do that. Ive only been doing this for just over a year and have yet to learn the cutting and polishing side of things. But as soon as I've saved enough pennies i plane to get a rock saw and make the vids of all my finds being cut and polished. So im working on it.

Hey Phil. I would like to ask you if you somehow monetize your agates or what do you do with all those beautifull stones?

@@philfromcave So cool! I am also a huge fan of stone hunting. I would like to connect with you on some other social media so we can stay in touch. Curently I am traveling arround NZ and definitely wont be able to take all the collected aggates with me back home. It would be nice if I could give them away to some agate collector just like you :)
I have agates from Britlings flat, Wakanui beach, Mt Somers and only one agate from Rangitata hehe. I saw you are a profesional on Rangitata and would love to ask you for an advice about the spot haha cuz this river is freaking hugeeee. Today I was at Geraldine arundel bridge.
