The seduction of Colombo Family Wiseguy Larry Mazza
Larry Mazza was a teenager when he found himself on a path that would lead him into the world of Organized Crime. It was far from the typical path. He was not groomed on the streets, committing petty crimes or running with gangs. Instead, Mazza was seduced by the wife of powerful Colombo Capo Gregory Scarpa. Once we was exposed to the life, it was Scarpa who took him under his wing and brought him into the Colombo Family as his righthand man. A first in this new series, "A Friend of Ours..." - Mazza explains how entered that world. To read more about Mazza’s incredible journey, you can purchase his book, “The Life,” by following this link: larrymazza-thelife.com/ ... #Colombofamily, #mafia #larrymazza #omerta #brooklyn

Tuesday night fights at the Blue Horizon was the best
This is absolutely an insane story
You got Ud'd twice by Rocky Ted. Nothing you can do about it.
The crowd of 3696 booed the decision and wondered had Lowry thrown the fight . Lowry hurt Marciano with two right hands in the 1st round in round 2 he hurt him again with uppercuts which Rocky was vulnerable to . By the 4th round a staggered Marciano seemed one punch away from being knocked out BUT Lowry let up and seemed to be carrying Marciano . Was Ted Lowry 177 lbs paid off ? Reporters said Lowry won 6 rounds to 4 , the crowd thought Lowry won and so did Lowry . Nothing you can do about that.
Rocco s DAD😅
I can see that he is a great man! Wonderful wisdom wow!
Great fighter, excellent interview, except the interviewer talked too much about his losses. Respect to Joey
The way he recount those stories make you feel like you were there then . I love this
I wonder if there is any boxing footage of Johnny Dee floating around somewhere. He did fight in the Garden several times. I would love to see it.
We tried. It's my understanding he had two televised fights. The best shot we have is the one in Miami against Ralph Dupas. If we get it, we will post it.
@throwbackmediasports That's awesome! Thank you!
I remember Al Certo at Bufano's Gym on Beacon Avenue in Jersey City in 1988. He was managing Buddy McGirt at the time. I worked out there from February 1988 until late June 1988. Al Certo and Dom Bufano used to sit in the tall chairs along the wall facing the ring. In addition to Buddy McGirt (who is in this excellent video), I remember Juan Laporte, Terrance Alli, Mathew and Davey Hilton, and Jean Marie Emebe, Mark DeGiovanni, Jimmy Magnifico, Mark Farley and Rip Rettig all training there at the time. I wasn't there long, but I learned some valuable lessons, especially from trainer Paul Minai. A beautiful place.
DiGilio, AKA "Johnny Dee," started out as an associate of the Bonnano crime family under Bayonne Joe Zicarelli in the late 1950s or early 1960s. By 1969, Johnny Dee "became disgruntled" with Bayonne Joe and the Bonnanos and "switched allegiance to Pasquale "Paddy Mac" Machiarole and Alphonse "Funzi" Tieri of the Genovese" crime family. He was likely made after 1976, when Cosa Nostra opened up the books again. They closed their membership books in 1957. My uncle was allegedly into Johnny Dee for two grand in 1962. My cousin, Nicholas "Nicky Gary" Maschuci initiated a sit-down and settled the issue between my uncle, who was 19 at the time, and DiGilio. According to an FBI source in a 1964 FBI report from the file of "James Riddle Hoffa," Nicky Gary was a "button man" with the Genovese. Nick ran a book making operation in downtown Jersey City from the 1930s until his disappearance in 1974 at the age of 60. Nick was the controller of the gambling operation, and according to 1970 FBI documents, the racket was bankrolled by "Jimmy Nap" Napoli and Louis "Bobby" Manna.

Rocky would have knocked him out
💋🙌👏🫠
Tiger Ted Lowry, as decent a human being as has ever graced God's green earth. A tough as nails boxer, honorably discharged Veteran, and all around good guy. If the great Rocky Marciano couldn't knock him out in two fights, you know how tough he had to be. Survived all of life's trials, and tribulations, he's still around to talk about it with grace, respect, and dignity.
Whats with asking about stevenson. Different era and the guy was a three round fighter who actually got beat pretty soundly by that small heavyweight from eastern pennsylvania. In 1982 or 83 i saw thomas training in a philly gym just in for a day or so. No dundee. He had a very good stiff and flicking jab. I thought maybe he was a natural left hander. Seemed like a nice humble guy, did his workout and left.
Damn i would love to see a sparring session with him and Tex Cobb.
I fought there in 88 against Jorge Maysonet. Even though it only went 5 rounds, we brought the house to it's feet. Just like in Rocky, Joe Frazier wished me and Jorge luck inside the ring, before our fight. I'll never forget that incredible, and exciting atmosphere. It was my greatest boxing memory.
can you translate the questions and answers of the interview into french or arabic please
Maybe ? Rocky was 13 1/2 stone and Jerry was a pumped up heavyweight. He was probably the best cruiserweight ever.Jerry was way too small as a heavy.
jerry was very good i dont think he was rugged enough...he would not have beaten rocky marciano...the chuvalo fight was stupid ...zack clayton counting him out??
Marciano would certainly beat that punch drunk bum. Quarry couldn’t even beat Patterson. A true champion finds a way to win. That’s not Quarry.
Great interview you can tell the guy really did his research on Joey and knows boxing very well
Gerry will always live on. A great fighter. ❤
Silly Jerry.
quarry did not hit hard enough to bother Rocky. he would have become a quarry for Rocky
yea wouldn't want to start a panic in the city LOL then they partner up with the newspapers and proceed to panic everyone like never before or since.
Great to see how well he recovered from brain injury after the Gatti fight.
Great Interview A true Tiger
Jerry couldn't beat the Black Rocky --Smokin Joe Frazier
Every one of Marciano’s opponents said they would beat him. God bless Jerry, heck of a fighter.
Foreman's management was avoiding Quarry as George was building his record. I feel Foremen would have blasted Jerry out in two rounds, perhaps George's management knows something I don't.
Quarry is bigger than Rocky. but I'd rate Rocky vs Frazer as a more even fight.
Beautiful Bailey ❤
Les Brown spoke of a Mr Washington, when he was in school, whom he said saw something in him before he saw something in himself.
Tiger Ted died in 2010 at age 91 .He had a great memory.
Congrats Champ on achieving your lifelong goal!🏆🎉🎊😁👍
No Sound??
Tiger Ted what you’re saying is correct a while did pick fights and was careful because you don’t want to get a bed opponent who has connections and lose a match even though you won so you had to pick the fight fights in order not to get a bad ref and an in cahoots situation
Lied about Cobb being nasty to get a spot on Ken Burns bs. Buck has the credibility of Uncle Remus. Great story teller, but facts are bringing up the rear.
Boxing needs about a hundred more Ray Mercers. He has class and was a tremendous competitor in an era of excellent heavyweights.
Did they make movie about him ❓
Greatest middleweight of all time should have been champ years before he got his shot(which he had to pat for) r.i.p bull
He lived on till 91 a very good fighter and nice guy r.i.p ted
This man has suffered through great tragedy, his wife and two sons all died of drug overdoses.
His voice is so NY. I love it.
Should have asked him to compare Earnie shavers punching power to George Foreman and another unknown puncher Mac foster .
Larry really tried to hurt Ali. No respect for this guy.
