Hey man are you alright? Your arm is a little beat up there.
Yaaaa I play baseball when I can and dove a few times and tore it up pretty good😅 all healed up now tho!
As someone who lives with 2 Eagle Scouts who build many fires, great video!
Thank you very much! I'm glad you found it helpful!
We just took your advice....and the fire is perfect!!!
Hey I'm glad I could help! Enjoy the beautiful fire!
Cool
Glad ya like it!
Is the solo stove ranger thicker stainless than the walmart solo stove ?Thanks
It feels like it, and overall definitely feels much more quality.
Who taught you how to build a fire?
My pap and dad both taught me some fire building skills, but I've kind of adapted things to make it more efficient through trial and error!
Bought one, took it out the first time and it did not work correctly. Made for a long 4 day trip. Would turn on eventually, after trying for a minute or two. Customer service is garbage as well. Keeping for emergency dog wash, otherwise it’s worthless. Biting the bullet and buying the Joolca Outing Kit.
When you say wouldn't work correctly what exactly was the issue??
I'm here for it all 💛
Welcome!
I’m excited :)
I'm excited to have you! What kind of stuff do you want to see most??
Mitchel Ryan!!!
You cant tell people my whole name! They are gonna steal my identity or something hahahah
Sold 👍
Hey I appreciate that! I hope.you enjoy the journey!
Sometimes it's just the process of getting it all ready to go!
I feel this too! I find that having a camping bin with all the essentials in it help me! That way I don't have to pack I just throw the bin in the car and I'm ready to go!
Not having the right gear for different weather. In the midwest, sometimes I feel like I have to pack for summer and winter.
This can definitely be a challenge! I'm working on a video concept right now to cover this exact problem!
Tents are expensive
What do you consider expensive?
I work 7 day a week no time
Life is about balance. You might be in the grind era right now but it slows down eventually. Just be ready when it does!
Could you for a quick hike after work?
Bugd
Are the specific bugs that are a problem in your area??
One thing I can’t figure out is what type of connection is on the bottom of the tent to I’m assuming powering the power bank inside? I’ve had the tent since April and haven’t seen any reviews or in the description of the tent on Amazon on what type of power connection it takes, any thoughts!?
I have heard about this connection but mine doesn't have it! I know there have been allot of changes to the tent since its launch and I think I have a relatively new one but not the newest! From what I have seen it could very well be a solar panel input plug. I think you plug the panel into that and plug your power supply into the inside? Let me know if this makes sense or works!
@@Meanderin_Mitch it does make sense and that’s exactly what I thought it might be. My first panel is should be arriving next week but if the connection is similar to my solar panel adapter that came with the Bluetti then it definitely won’t fit the solar panel connection. So odd haha
@@Rhodylens Yes very odd... When you figure it out forsure I'd love if you shared! Really curious!
How to set up a tent with just yiurself
I'll be doing a video on that shortly actually!
What kind of tent do you have?
@@carlabober well as a kid my stepdad helps me but the tent I sleep in it is a tent where you have to manually insert the rods one by one and pray it doesn’t fall while you get the other ones
If you are serious about getting into camping I would say maybe look at some affordable up to date tents! You can get a very reliable tent for under $50 and especially now as camping stuff goes on sale, you can get some awesome stuff pretty cheap!
@@Meanderin_Mitch ok thanek
Stress and bad memories
What causes stress for ya while camping??
Mosquito's, Air conditioning
Have you ever tried cold weather camping??
@@Meanderin_Mitch lol.
I was being serious hahaha. Fixes both of the problems!
People.
It's funny you say that, I typically camp to avoid people! Have you tried camping more remote??
Can you camp solo?
Just general agoraphobia
Would you be able to do something like camping in your back yard?? That way it wasn't super unfamiliar??
@@Meanderin_Mitch I unfortunately live in the middle of San Francisco and don't have a back yard. It's crazy I use to love being outside and camping. I use to live totally off grid on a homestead I was building but I lost it in a wildfire in 2021 and have been in the city since then. Here in the past 6 to 9 months I have found it extremely hard to leave my house for ANYTHING without having extreme social anxiety and panic attacks
It is not my area of expertise. But I believe if you want to then there is a way to move past that!
@@Meanderin_Mitch you have no idea how much I wish it was a simple as just getting over it. I'm in therapy about it now but when leaving my house makes me physically ill it makes it so hard. I would love to go hiking or camping with friends. Hell I would love to be able to go to dinner with friends or go see a movie without having a panic attack. I didn't eat for two days because I couldn't make myself leave my house to go to the grocery store. The anxiety feels crippling most of the time. I've tried different medications and nothing seems to help.
Well I would really love it if you would join the community and stay in touch. It would be awesome to be able to be apart of your journey to get where you want to be. And I'd love to do what I can along the way😇
Brushing my teeth and washing my face
I do both of these things while camping! And allot of my lady friends also do a much more in depth face care routine! What part of yours would you not be able to do outside??
Mostly mosquitoes and the humidity. Id like to go camping in the cooler months (live in PA, NorthWest).
I am in south west pa! The cooler weather is coming!
Mine stop working, i think electric shock, do have any idea how to repair
Did something specific happen?? If you reach out to support they may just send you a replacement!
W
Glad to have ya!
W
Glad to have ya!
My reasons for not going outside other than Disc herniation, disc bulging, scoliosis degenerative disc. PAIN. But the main reason is other humans. Dont like em at all.
Honestly I like camping because of how few people you encounter and the ones you do are just better people in my opinion! Much friendlier and less sketchiness
The fun things to do outside take too much traveling time and money typically… Like just going in the backyard is boring with the kids… instead you have to go to a lake, for example… But without a boat, what do you do at the lake? What would be helpful is cheap fun activities Families can do outside together… Bring back some of that knowledge.
I can definitely do some videos on how to have fun without spending money! That's typically how I prefer it anyways! What would you say is a reasonable budget for a weekend camping to you??
Mosquitoes I hate going outside because of mosquitoes
Have you tried any of the portable repellers??
MOSQUITOES! and pretty much toxic reaction to bug repellent!
Have you tried any of the portable repellers??
I spent the better part of 30 years outside. I see everyone's wilderness destination and it reminds me of work.
What did ya do for those 30 years?
@@Meanderin_Mitch farm feed grass and ranch cattle on the mountains in Idaho.
What is your idea of a wilderness destination?? Or just destination to escape that?
My kids hate it, it's always a battle to get them to go hiking with me or even the beach.
That can be tough! How old??
@Meanderin_Mitch 12 and 13, didn't used to be this way.
Life is speeding up especially for kids. Everywhere they look it's marketers fighting for their attention and that typically happens by trying to make things more exciting than they are. It might not be easy, but you may be able to reframe hiking in the same way? Make games of it, reward end of hikes, do other outdoor activities along side hiking. Just gotta play the game
That shit is boring by yourself, but going outside is actually fun with people
I don't fully disagree. I definitely prefer camping with a group or at least a few friends, but solo trips to relax for a night have helped me a ton! Are you a part of any outdoor camping communities to organize group camping trips??
Respect the grind 💯💯💯
I really appreciate that! Gotta get some traction🤙🏼🤙🏼
More of these please 😂😂😂
I can do that!
Pokémon cards.
Depression
Depression is why I started getting outside more! If you can force yourself to get into the sunlight it can do amazing things! It's not easy and your body is gonna want to fight you, but even if it's scrolling onyour phone do it outside instead! It might take some time but eventually you'll wanna do more and more outdoors to feel the energy!
I know how hard it can be to do really anything when you're depressed so I feel you. I can say that getting outside is one of those things that has literally saved me from depression. Sometimes it's just standing in the sunlight for a few minutes, walks help me so much, and camping with new people who make me laugh when I don't feel like laughing changed everything for me.
Mostly the bob cats and the coyotes
Does your area have issue with either giving people problems?? I live in an area with both and they are much more afraid of us!
@Meanderin_Mitch mostly the rabid ones and the hogs here are aggressive to
Have you tried car camping?? Might feel safer with a setup in your car that you can have hard walls??
Anxiety…
What are you anxious about??
I can totally relate! Is it camping or just being outside in general?
Lmao heat and flat land :/ I come from beaches and mountains. It just makes me sad
What kind of area are you in now?? Besides just flat hahah
It’s not safe anymore
Would you mind giving me some examples of things that make you feel unsafe??
I feel like I often get caught up in every day priorities and can forget to go outside. Theres also a little bit of fear that plays into it especially if I'm doing something by myself.
Solo activities can definitely add a layer of safety concerns! This is actually why I started a community for people who like outdoor activities! There is definitely safety in numbers! And we are pretty strict about the kinds of people we keep!
@@Meanderin_Mitch I love that and I agree. Definitely safety in numbers, and it feels good knowing you're conscious of the people around you. I'd love to be a part of it! I do also like to solo camp and was wondering fi you have any tips on how to feel safe solo camping.
@@carlabober i’ve solo camped a few times as a young woman, i definitely feel safer with my bf or a friend with me. however what i did while solo camping is maybe try to have a site that’s not too far from other people who are also camping, like be within earshot of people if possible. i also kept a pair of men’s hiking boots outside of the tent next to mine even though i was alone. i had extremely high concentrate pepper spray and a hunting knife as well
@@mouserat374 I do like the idea of being close to people when I can! Although I think it would be cool to go camping solo really out there. I've heard of the mens hiking boot idea before and I do carry a knife.
The sun. I am a natural ginger so I am very sensitive to the sun and sunburn easily. I can't use most sunscreens because I have really bad breakouts from the ould in it.
Do you use sunshirts at all?? I have a few friends with similar issues! I can ask for their advice also!
@@Meanderin_Mitch that would be great and I have tried but if the uv rays are bad I will still burn
We have started setting up a canopy on sunny days so that way everyone gets some shade when camping! Have you tried mineral based sunscreen?
It's too hot most of the time. Everyday in the summer is a heatstroke risk and everything is just so urban. There are no good places to walk or things to do outside anymore
What area are you referring to if you don't mind me asking??
@@Meanderin_Mitch Right now I am in northern Texas. It's not a very big city, but still a pretty normal town. I love to walk when I can, but there are little areas to do so. Streets, cars, businesses, and out in the countryside most of it is private property.
Idk about you buy even just walking around outside, even if it's down the street, helps reset me! If I had they choice I'd go with a trail in the woods, but sidewalk out in the sun can be great too! Just gotta make sure you hydrate very well to avoid heat related issues!
Money, and time
What would be the most amount of money and time you could spare on any given week? I did an overnight trip last month where I spent less than $10 total, went out around 7pm, enjoyed a campfire and some leftovers, slept out under the stars, made some instant coffee in the morning and was back home by 8am! It doesn't always need to be extravagant!
Do you live anywhere where there is fairly close free land to camp on? That would definitely help save money!
I’ve been outside a lot this summer and hiking and camping are my favorite. But the aggressive wasps/hornets are so so horrific this year and where I live we have a few cases of west nile from the mosquitos. I’m sure it has to do with the earth getting hotter 😢
That's super frustrating about the wasps and West Nile! What kind of camp do you prefer to do?
May not be the most ideal, but wearing bug netting could make it safer! Also have you tried different kinds of bug repellent??
@@Meanderin_Mitch burning coffee grounds around the campsite works pretty well for mosquitos, i do have ways of prevention, it just makes the whole experience more expensive and time consuming than it used to be.
@@carlabober my bf and i prefer rustic campsites in state or national parks, like singular sites away from everything and in the woods. the wasps aren’t much of an issue in the woods but they are where people are throwing garbage or eating food (downtown areas in my city). the mosquitos are definitely more aggressive than i’ve ever seen, all bug sprays i’ve tried don’t do much. however, burning dark roast coffee grounds in a ceramic bowl or just throwing the whole container on the fire has worked amazingly well to keep them away. thank you for asking!
@@mouserat374 of course! I love those kinds of sites too. Do you have a favorite place you have been too? I've never heard of the coffee grounds idea but I like that.
The sun, Insect bites, and the constant maintenance of bug repellant and sunscreen it takes to keep those at bay.
Are you dealing primarily with mosquitos?
