Arlene and Jerry Mahoney moments on "What's My Line"
Arlene was a Hottie
This show was so fun. And it didn't need to be mean either. Unlike today. This is what we lost.
Pretty good questions if you have a certain person in mind.
They don't make shows like this anymore, nor do they make stars or women like Arlene Francis.
It’s always so funny when Fred Allen said John…….may I ask you a question.
Yes, my favourite moments, too
Fred Allen was a little crusty on the outside, but I think he was a real softy on the inside. ❤
My favorite Dorothy moment was when she and Arlene wore the big dresses and when she was announced, Dorothy said “I know you’re not applauding me; you’re applauding my courage”. The way she said it was hilarious.
I loved Fred Allen‘s non sequiturs.😂❤
That wasn’t very nice of that woman contestant to say to William Shatner that her phone number had been changed.
What a doll!❤️
They had a few cocktails
John’s elocutions were a treasured, iconic part of What’s My Line, as were Arlene’s and Bennett’s salty and witty responses!
Dorothy’s father seemed so cute and sweet.
Your opening without Fred Allen? Without him i dont think the show would have become the hit it was. RIP Fred Allen
“You gotta watch those cheesy hotels.” 😂😂😂❤️❤️❤️
Healph
Groucho shaking thier hands after Dorothy’s slip had me
Oh, how funny.
We had bread boxes back then, just the British sense of humour!
I thought he said it because you didn't eat bread 😀
Fred was one of a kind. It's a shame he was taken from us too soon.
Most hilarious Wordsmith host on TV ever !! 😂😛
John laughing and hopping in his chair at his own antics is so adorable.
Great video.
Bobby Darin
You should have had the episode where she asked Yul Brenner if he had blond curley hair.
“John, we have enough trouble in this business without your starting that.” 😂
Arlene seemed jealous when Martin would talk with beautiful a woman.
I never seen it like this. More like she is pretending, They look very devoted one to another
How absurd, making a point to enter a long list of guest hosts, yet, excluding Hal Block and all the others that were a pretty important part of the show at the inception of it. 🙄
That was so cute. “Are you my father?”
@@leannsherman6723 one of the most touching moments indeed
When Americans were so much smarter, so much cooler, and filled with so much promise.
She was soooooooo sweet! One of my favs :)
I wonder if this would work today?
it might really. There's this trial from 2000 I found here on YB with Betty White on the panel and it was really very interesting. Very close to the original. The MG was perfect and the occupations were great chosen
My favourite Steve Allen moment was after his show, the audience got up and went home, apart from one member, a gentleman who was fast asleep.
hahaha 😁😁
Witty panel and witty guests AND no toilet humor. Those were the days.
When I don't want to think about any thing I put on WHAT'S MY LINE. I Puts a smile on my face.
Whoaa the real WML girl congratulations
John Charles Daly started as a newspaper reporter on ABC.
She was quite brilliant. She figured out more 'lines' than anyone. She also figured out who killed Kennedy and lost her life because of knowing.
Because she couldn't keep quiet.
A Delight!
RIP
That "Oh Dorothy" killed me 😂😂
I appeared on her radio show from Sardi's in 1989. She was very sweet and personable. I asked about the diamond heart necklace she always wore from her husband, Martin. Someone ripped it from her throat and ran off.
She was indeed one of a kind. So sad she got Alzheimer desease
I wonder if John's 'circhmlocutions' began as a way of filling up time when the show looked like ending early
Today it might be considered a word salad, but he mostly did convey what he meant.
Thank you so much for compiling this!🙏 Fred Allen was hysterical as was Steve Allen. I would love to have seen a conversation with Fred Allen, Steve Allen, and Bennett Cerf. It would have been witty and intelligent.
I simply can’t listen to this enough times. I’m betting that he was a really kind man. 😂❤
He was - yes. Pitty how he died 😔😔
I adore Dorothy Kilgallen.
Both Arlene and Dorothy are smart and classy women . Also , both are simply gorgeous.
And both were also incredibly accomplished for the time. Dorothy was famous nationwide for her journalism work and Arlene had found success both as a stage actress and even a TV show host (parts of episodes from her NBC show, "Home", which focused on new household products and recreational stuff, are actually on TH-cam!).
Can anyone explain what is funny about Bennett Cerf asking about "wee ones" ? Where is the joke?
Who was the guy with glasses at 1:15?
