Are you considering applying for BFA or MFA programs?

@@LeahMaguire-n7zIf you get waitlisted, it doesn’t count toward your attempts. 👍 Btw, did you create your TH-cam handle to ask this question specifically? 😂
You can audition a total of 3 times across both programs
@@mysticalmaniac2 To be clear, folks get 4 auditions across both programs (unless you get waitlisted or accepted which doesn’t count toward your attempts). In Cormac’s case, he got waitlisted the first 2 times and got into the BFA program on his 3rd attempt. But he can still audition for Juilliard MFA in the future (not that he would). If you want the official word on the matter, reach out to Jerry Shafnisky in the Juilliard Drama Division. Jerry is very friendly and helps applicants with these kinds of questions all the time. 👌

Could you make tips for confidence? It could be general or more specific, like if you’re the youngest one there but auditioning for the biggest part (not related to how talented you are) or just thinking there’s others who are better, and it could be tips on being confident emotionally (if that makes any sense), but also how to come prepared to be confident
Hey Ryan, for sure we can try to share some tips around confidence on the channel. Keep in mind, confidence is generated when you prepare at the level of your aspirations. Strong prep is how you give yourself the best chances of doing consistently high quality work and get into multiple top schools! Don't shortchange the process and don't think there's a shortcut to arriving at excellent work. I encourage you to stay focused on bringing your fullest self to your pieces and remove any worry about how talented/experienced you are. We don't know (or really control) how talented we are, but we CAN control how hard we work and the skills we develop. That will show you off well in the audition and you'll end up very happy with your results. We can talk more about where you're at with monologues and your schools list - schedule a 15min Zoom with me here - www.howtogetintodramaschool.com/freetalk

The next question I’d want to know is how to support yourself after graduating with a drama degree. What do you do now ?
I’ve supported myself in a lot of ways. Artistic projects, education projects, corporate projects, and more, all of which I’m doing right now. But the degree didn’t make me the money. You should know…Career success is much more about your personal philosophy than your degree. You can see this from the stories of successful people everywhere - they have a WIDE range of backgrounds and education. I’ve always brought my full self - including my unique Juilliard training - to various opportunities I’ve been interested in. To be clear, these schools do not provide career success, they provide artistic training. How you use that training is what shapes your career, and every career is unique to the individual. I hope that makes sense and helps! Email me if you’d like to chat more👍 anthony@howtogetintodramaschool.com
Hello, I had a question. I am 21, and I have done some college before but nothing to do with acting. I don’t have any sort of acting experience. I was wondering how much time do you think I should spend getting training and what not in order to then have a good shot at getting into Juilliard. Would it be enough to if I started now and applied this fall to hopefully get in for the 2025 school year? Or is that too short notice? Thank you
You can get into top drama schools with no experience. That being said, you should do everything you can to grow as much as possible between now and the audition. That means align with mentors you trust and are inspired by, dive into the craft and take advantage of opportunities to learn! If drama school in Fall 2025 is what you want, you can have it. My advice is don’t hold back, it starts now! If you’d like to get a head start on discussing schools and monologues, I’d love to hear your story and provide guidance on your best next steps. Schedule a free consultation with me at HowToGetIntoDramaSchool.com/FreeTalk
This is a great watch!!! I’m also a transfer student deciding whether to accept my acceptance to Pace’s BFA Acting program for this upcoming fall! I’m 22 and feel crazy old, so this was fantastic to see.

If you’d like to connect with Jonel, email me and I can see about introducing y’all. 👍 anthony@howtogetintodramaschool.com
Tips about scholarships ... but half the video is talking about a mandatory loan that triples by the time you graduate😂😂LOL its so sad... Do guys perhaps know specific of what this mandatory loan is called? Hopefully you guys can gather another international student roundtable with student that are more recently enrolled! Greetings from Indonesia!
Nevermind, i found it! it's called an up to 9.5k$ mandatory "educational loans" and for students on financial aid it will be eliminated with increased scholarship during the 2nd & 3rd year, neat. And it is said that an average student with high financial aid will still need to pay around 10% cost of attendance, which is still huge amount for someone like me.😅I'm 24 now and the ultimate dream is atttending an acting MFA before i'm 30🙏 Amen.
Thank you!!!
Ha! Of course. NO cry-talking!
For people from NYC who will qualify for FAFSA, is that usually enough to cover everything or is taking out a loan the only way to make ends meet?
This is a question for the Financial Aid office at the drama school. I encourage you to call them - they are by the phones to answer exactly these kinds of questions for you! In general, students will use more than FAFSA to cover the costs of drama school. Have you already applied or are you looking into schools now? If you'd like our recommendations on which schools to apply to, schedule a free consultation here - howtogetintodramaschool.com/freetalk
@ 8:00 "just the idea that art is possible" . that's exactly it 😭You go your whole life not even thinking of art as an option, as something that is conceivable for you. You are aware that art exists, but your brain doesn't even begin to process it as something you yourself could be doing. And then you become an adult and are like wait, this is something *I* could be doing, something *I* love doing. I can make my own choices now and can go after this thing that all my life wasn't even in my field of view. As a child of immigrants who had zero role models working in the arts I really resonated with Torkan's story, thank you for posting this!
Absolutely! Torkan's story is wonderful, and yours is too! Are you an actor as well? Feel free to email me - anthony@howtogetintodramaschool.com
