Today’s video is my promised Penny Shopping at the Dollar General haul from this last Tuesday. We had a huge penny list this week, so big in fact it was actually made up of three separate penny lists. Literally thousands of items were possibly pennies from yellow and white dot apparel & accessories to green dot home and lawn and garden. This haul is not necessarily just to show you what I got, but for you guys to be able to use it as a visualization tool on what you need to be looking out for in your own stores, especially if you are beginners at penny shopping and want to get a good luck of items that are potential winners. To get started it is very useful to see what you need to be looking out for in the stores especially as a lot of these gems can be hidden, so remembering certain details can be very useful. I've sped up a lot of this video so you are able to more easily look through the items without endless chatter! You can always take this with you to reference or take screenshots of some of the items if you feel that will help you. Sometimes it can be very overwhelming finding penny items in a dollar general store - you’ve got to think of it like a mini treasure hunt! Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose but it’s all part of the fun. I just couldn’t believe that in just one store there was over 90 penny items with a value of over $600 (the clothing/apparel of which was over $500 just in itself). Doing the math, that’s over 99% savings. I paid a grand total of $0.93 before tax. Not only is this perfect for dressing your family on a budget, but a perfect way to donate to causes close to your heart, especially around the holidays.
In this video I also give a quick rundown of what you need to be looking for on the DG tags so that you can be confident that you are purchasing penny items. We now have the wonderful gift of the dollar general in-store scanner, something that we didn’t have last year, making it even easier to do. Be sure to download the app, to verify your purchases before heading to the register. Sometimes there can be sneaky exclusions we aren’t always aware of at first, and some stores may have already rolled back over to full price, so this is a super handy tip to ensure you don’t get caught out. But if all else fails keep hold of the receipt, you can always return your items in the worst case scenario.

Like I always mention please don’t go into DG and bother employees about asking about penny shopping, locating penny items etc. This will not get you anywhere! Remember these items are supposed to have been removed from the shop floor. So be courteous and respectful in your store and don’t leave a mess, and always, as it should go without saying, thank your employees!
