website for the train? thank you
We booked through Agoda. Fast and easy. You get an e-ticket to your email.
Why would american ordance be all the way in Battambang??? ....ah...i looked up rbk 250 cluster bombs. Russian ordnance. So most of the ordnance is chinese or russians ordinance....probably there from the 10 year vietnam occupation of cambodia. The sign makes it sound like it was from american bombing which was nowhere near Battambang.
This place is not Siem Reap. This is Phnom Pehn.
@@wanmohamad3212 This was 5 minutes out of Siem Reap on the way to Angor Way.
So so sad.😢
Yes, very sad.
Propaganda. I saw what the North Vietnamese Army & Viet Cong did to the villagers. They were terrified of them. There are things the US did wrong not to the extent of the NVA and VC. We built schools, orphanages, medical facilities. Did medical missions. Provided food. Research the POW treatment at Hanoi Hilton. The horribly burnt girl was bombed by the South VN AF. We did everything possible to avoid civilian casualties. Sometimes at the loss of US lives. Ever been handed a live grenade from a toddler given to them by the VC? I saw it twice. We ran the other way and were ambushed. The US admits what we did that we shouldn’t in our history. The VN government does not and provides half truths. I have been in the similar Hanoi war museum. This Canadian individual is clueless
Thanks for your comment Doc...
In 1954 we went from North to South to escape the communists, but they still pursued us to steal our freedom and impose the communist regime on us.
This is what I will say. Vietnam was an amazing country. The people were reserved but extremely friendly and helpful once approached. The food was amazing and the coffee was delicious. The country, as I said in a video, far exceeded my expectations. I met some really nice people and we were even invited into a few people's homes. We talked with the translator. Exchanged gifts. It was amazing, but not recorded.
@@andrewabroad50 Do you think they tell the truth about what they think in their hearts? If Vietnam is a amazing country, why did millions of people in the past defy death to cross the border and now they still line up in front of the consulates of Western countries to ask to settle down?
@@andrewabroad50 Do you know that Vietnam has a penal code that states that anyone who expresses disagreement with state policy or the actions of leaders at all levels, whether small or large, is considered a crime or treason?
@kimdungnguyen7424 i found people on both sides. I am not a socialist, so I would have been fleeing or fighting myself, but it's not my place to judge others in a country I do not belong to. I was a guest and honored to be able to experience it. If you watch my Cambodia videos, I make it quite clear, I am not a socialist. 💯
Exactly why I would not live in that type of country, but if I choose to visit, of my own free will, I choose to be respectful and follow the rules, or don't go. It's like when we enter a temple, we don't worship that god or follow that religion, but if we choose to enter, we will remove our shoes, ensure our shoulders and knees are covered, and be respectful. I love your comments and I agree
War is terrible. If the government of North VN only worried about building the life’s of they people and didn’t attack South VN ,there was no VN war….the people of both regions wouldn’t be in the state of death😢
Agreed, war is terrible and people suffer. I like to meet and connect with the people. I'm a talker 😁
The crimes committed by the US government are undeniable. Don't make excuses. And don't mix concepts. Don't equate the Vietnamese people with the American invaders. At that time, there was no North Vietnam or South Vietnam, we were one country. and the truth is that the Vietnamese, who are very simple and gentle, were forced to take up arms to expel the American invaders. It's a part of history. History gives us lessons, we put them aside, we don't forget them, but we look to the future. I'm Vietnamese and I don't hate Americans. Your name Nguyen Kim Dung but you're not Vietnamese at all. Your nationality is US right?
Hey Andrew, it was great watching the Thailand (Phuket) director's cut. Very enjoyable. We watched the one early last year I think it was when you stayed at the Dewa, but the director's cut with bonus, never before seen footage was excellent. We have just come back from a three week trip to Phuket and Natai. We love Thailand and have been there several times ourselves. It was also good to see Lindsay doing some of the camera work and she did a splendid job. We also sampled some of the "cookies" and other treats as we did last year..... Looking forward to seeing more extended versions of your original video footage. Stay well you two and we'll see you on the tv again soon.🍺🍸🍷
Much appreciated as always. Lindsay came a long way since her first few videos. Filming yourself is kinda weird at first. She says she's ready for the next adventure and promises to do more videos. Thanks for the comment and well wishes. Say hello and thank you to wifey for us. Cheers
There is no display of China's crimes during the war B/W Viet Nam and China in 1979

I know it's been way too long. We have been tied up and in a holding pattern since pausing the adventure. I think we are getting close to finishing up here.
Smoking? In 2024?
Lol... Ya. Normally we vaped, but from a legal perspective, vaping is illegal in most SE Asian countries, or was, things change a lot. Lol So for $1 a pack, we opted for 'no trouble' Thanks for the comment.
RA 1967
Excuse my ignorance, what is RA?
Thank you for the revisit to the Requiem Collection. I put that exhibition together, along with a group of Vietnam Veterans, and gifted it to the people of Vietnam in 2000. Good to see it still alive.
The museum was quite the experience. Mainly photos, but captured the events well. Very impactful. I would be lying if I said I didn't choke up a couple times. Well worth the visit!
that ungrateful country was a waste of American lives and money.
This is what I will agree with... It was a waste of lives and money. I found the Vietnamese people very reserved, but extremely friendly when engaged in conversation. I have wanted to visit Vietnam, since I was a teenager... all because of the Vietnam war.
@@andrewabroad50 that's probably a government mandate for them. they are mostly interested in the money that they can get from the Foreigner's. especially from Americans.
@@robertmartinez4174 a government mandate, that's funny. I think they try to get as much money from all tourists... the worst scam of the whole journey was the taxi from Ho Chi Mien City airport.
The fat Buddha iis actually Hotei is a god of good luck and good fortune and may be called the ''Laughing Buddha. '' He is also known as the ''cloth sack'' monk or Budai in China. He is characterized as a bald, chubby, smiling or laughing Buddhist priest with loose robes, large earlobes, and a round, protruding belly.
Absolutely correct. No disrespect to the laughing Buddha. One of my favorites!

I’m assuming Jane Fonda is on the board of directors.
Love the comment. I think there was some mention of her in the last part of the museum.
Interesting video. I don’t think it’s pronounced Ho Chi Man City.
I am horrible at pronunciation
More like America's Museum of Shame. Darn, I missed that war. I was a proud Vietnam/Draft resistor....with a brain even at 18 years old. That museum isn't on my "bucket list"
I agree... Shame. I have wanted to visit Vietnam for over 30 years... It was a bucket list item for me. Thanks for watching and commenting
@@andrewabroad50 Thanks for the respectful comment. The irony for me is Vietnam still has a Communistic system which was the reason the US went there in the first place. They also have a capitalistic approach to business and foreign policy. American veterans go there and basically support that economic system and society they fought. I have Vietnamese neighbors across the street. Great people. Vietnam is a smart country. They "play" friends with the US while presently playing "friends" with Putin this week. We were never going to defeat those people.
Yeah, the exact word to say is "no word to explain", love the way you are actually get the point of this museum <3 How did we go through this war? Amazing Vietnam <3
Yes... Horrible time in history. Thanks for watching and commenting
Thanks for all the information, especially regarding Tuk Tuk's. The TukTuk guy I'm going with charges $28 USD. I'm okay with that, considering it's a round trip and so many stops in between.
I think you will be happy paying the $28. Well worth it. Great experience! Thanks for watching and commenting!
Temples 1. Banteay Kdei 2. Banteay Samre 3. Banteay Srei ... up north. 4. Ta Prohm 5. Bayon (east gate) 6. Angkor Wat
The temple complex was so big and there were so many temples. I did my best to get the names correct. I was so caught up with everything... even a little overwhelmed with Bayon and Angkor Wat. What amazing workmanship! Going to Angkor Wat was a huge bucket list item for me. Thanks for watching and commenting!
One of questions that Robert Mcnamara asked PAV's general named Võ Nguyên Giáp what was it exactly happened at Tonkin? His answer shocked me that "There was NOTHING from aside of North Vietnam at that time"
I have wanted to visit Vietnam since I was a teenager. I grew up with the western Vietnam war movies of the 80s. I choked up several times during our museum visit. Vietnam is a beautiful country. We met some great people and look forward to returning. Thanks for the comment!
The birds for sale at the temple / palace for release. It is for blessings and good fortune. The same is done with fish. You are giving them their lives back.
I didn't find out about buying the birds and setting them free until after we left. We learnt quite a bit this journey. Next time we go back... I'm going to free some birds. Have you traveled the area or are you from Cambodia? Always nice to have local contacts and knowledge 💯
@@andrewabroad50 I have lived on the Big Island of Hawaii for 40 years. I have never been to Cambodia before but will hopefully be there in a few months. I have been up and down in Thailand from Bangkok to Chiang Mai and Chiang Ri. Most of my time in central Thailand (Chyiaphum city in Chyiaphum Provence) where my Thai wife has a house and family and rice farm, etc. Been in Vietnam and Laos and "Burma" as well. Plan on being in that region very soon for retirement. Anyway, the Thai people do those things as well with fish and birds. Look for me in Chyiaphum (hahaha no one goes to Chyiaphum). Thanx

I remember going to this museum as a part of our curriculum at university here in Vietnam, and I was shocked and traumatized even though I've learned all about the war through history class.
As a Canadian, the Vietnam war (American War) wasn't taught in school, but I knew a lot about it. I've wanted to go to Vietnam for a long time. The museum choked me up several times. Thanks for watching and commenting. Vietnam is a beautiful country.

We made a mistake by escalating the war, mostly by Lyndon Baines Johnson a war criminal. Looking back in hindsight I think 🤔 the USA 🇺🇸 wanted capitalism but they should have allowed Vietnam 🇻🇳 and their citizens the right to decide themselves. There was a lot of sick leaders back then such as Westmoreland who helped escalate the war. I have met many Vietnamese people who are peaceful people who never wanted war.
I seen your comment and wanted to translate it, then got busy and forgot. I apologize. Vietnam was a beautiful country. It far exceeded our expectations. I say that in several of the videos. I have wanted to visit the country for 30+ years because of the Vietnam (American) War. War is ALWAYS a horrible thing. Innocent people suffer. Now on a different note... The food and coffee was amazing, the best we have had ANYWHERE! The Vietnamese people were welcoming and very friendly. To many examples to cover. We met some really nice people. There were people who spoke no English but we sat and used the translator. Amazing experience. Thank you Google Translate for making those interactions happen. They were unforgettable and I will remember those people for the rest of my life. It always amazes me that where people have suffered the most, they are always the nicest, friendliest, and most compassionate. I wish nothing but the best for Vietnam's people and we will definitely return. To be there during Tet... again, amazing. Thanks for commenting starslight100!
Looking around today... I fear lessons were not learned. I always say, and think it's correct. It's not the people, it's the governments. Thanks for the comment KJJ782!

Does you guys know how much the extra bed cost per night?
I see many familiar pieces of military hardware. I have flown on the CH 47 helicopter and have also received training on the maintenance of that helicopter. I was stationed at Con Thein cam lo and Quang Tri military bases. While T Con Thein I remember seeing one of the very large Allis Chalmers dozens on the north end of the base that had been destroyed during one of the many battles with the communist north Vietnamese. I'm sure the communist have their own propaganda version of the events. Our only reason for being is South Vietnam was to assist our ally. Another fact about the war LBJ micro managed the bombing of the war in the north Vietnam. Had the bombing been properly conducted the bombing should have been done as was the bombing that was done during world War two in Germany and Japan. Having said that the war should have been over in six months. When north Vietnam stopped the aggression on south Vietnam and only then should the massive bombing of north Vietnam been stopped. That is what should have happened. Instead LBJ picked targets like bridges and never really destroyed the true military targets. That is the fact in this matter.
I really liked your comment. Always like to hear first hand accounts.
@andrewabroad50 I remember when LBJ went on television claiming that one of our navy ships had been attacked in the gulf of Tonkin. It was later determined that was a made up story. After I had been drafted into the military and was in the class room training portion of this training I remember the training also including speeches that LBJ had made previously about why we were in South Vietnam supporting our ally.
The War would have been stopped in one day if you give LBJ a riffle and fight in the Vietnamese forrest.
