    Looked like a great train trip Lindsay and Andrew. The toilet was a bit......well it's Asia and we love that rawness. Loved how you were not too sure if you could smoke where you did. I'm sure they didn't mind. The first class berth looked pretty good. My wife and I are looking at going on the train from Bangkok to Chiang Mai. That looks pretty good too.
    Another great video mate.

      Thanks again for the great comment. We are headed to Chiang Mai too. We ran out of time while in Thailand, so we are heading back. We were also going to take train from Bangkok

      The train was a great experience!
      We ended up taking trains all the way from HCMC to Hanoi, with a few stops along the way. Enjoy your trip!

    Do y think they change the bedding after u have used it ?

    • @andrewabroad50
      @andrewabroad50  ปีที่แล้ว

      We know for a fact they do not change the bedding every time. We saw them fluff the pillows and refold the sheets... BUT ♥ Vietnam
      The train journey from HCMC to Hanoi, with stops along the way was an amazing experience!

    I just got off that train right after we were already on board and a barely a few minutes before departure. We were going from Danang to NhaTrang and let me tell you that if you have never been in a fourth world country jail cell, this is your chance to experience just that. As soon as we got inside the sleeping car the stench of a mixture between urine, sweat, feet, street market, and poop, punched us right in the nose.
    The bunker bed cabin was so tight that if you need to make a quick run to the bathroom, you might not even make it out of it before you cr@p your pants, the bedsheets and pillows were obviously not clean, they were stained and full of hair ...there were some chinese and Vietnamese smoking inside the car, don't forget that the aircon is turned off every time the train makes a stop (according to a couple that we talked to before we escaped from our car) ...the toilets seemed to work from time to time (if lucky) ...Honestly we were so relieved when we got off and took a grab back to our hotel. Will never make this mistake again.

      LOL... I love your comment.
      Not one train we took was even close to that bad... there is some truth to what your saying though.
      I enjoyed every minute of it... GREAT experience and talked with some nice people.
      We ended up taking several trains from HCMC to Hanoi, with stops along with way to sight see.
      Thanks for the great comment though... Loved it!

    A lot better than bus ride. 40,000 VND is about $1.80.

      Yep... I enjoyed train more than bus and it was cheap, especially just getting seats.

    How early in advance did you book your ticket?

    • @andrewabroad50
      @andrewabroad50  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It was only a couple days before that we booked the sleeper seats. You can get last minute seat tickets pretty easy at the station and they are really cheap.

    Smoking? In 2024?

    • @andrewabroad50

      Lol... Ya.
      Normally we vaped, but from a legal perspective, vaping is illegal in most SE Asian countries, or was, things change a lot. Lol
      So for $1 a pack, we opted for 'no trouble'
      Thanks for the comment.
