for me what hurt the most was the way everyone was talking after the execution, people cared way more than Wolfgangs death than hers, instantly diving into his. Especially after her whole monologue about her feeling like this was actively her only option, and how noone would even care if she died or care too much to investigate, Evas fear of being hated and overlooked and powerless being shown in her last moments with her classmates and execution only for everyone to basically have her death as an after thought REALLY hurt man </3 love Eva she shouldve lived (i could be wrong lol i might be misremembering)

The execution felt more unsettling when there’s no “upbeat” and goofy music that Danganronpa usually has to make up for it.

The fact that when she finds a hand of hope, it just breaks and she falls into the fire pit makes me sad.

This execution gave me chicken skin when I first saw it (it doesn’t help that I watched it with my lights off lol) like, at least the oficial games have funky music that kind of help you focus on the absurdity of it and not take it so seriously. With the orchestal soundtrack here, it actually does feel like watching a teenager fight for their life as they’re tortured to death.

They did not disappoint with this one Im excited for the next chapters

1:57 I never thought I could be feel nostalgic while being so horrified by hearing that charging sound again, I am a little disappointed by the fact we didn’t get the chanting, but that’s a very very very minor nitpick, this chapter is peak. Edit: OH WAIT, the music after the charging has the same melody as the chanting on loop, neat

I am SUPER curious about what the deal is with Cara Koskinen. Very interesting that they used her in the execution.

It’s such a small detail, but the subtle animation of Eva turning to face the collar around 0:30 really stood out to me. It added a sense of dimension.

I feel like if the team would have kept him alive, Wolfgang would end up being a Gary-Sue and just take over the trials, not leaving enough Damon time to grow. I am sad that he was the first to die, but, time for Damon’s character development.

Dang, even though she murdered Wolfgang, and threw both Damon and Diana under the bus, I can't really hate her, I just wished both her and Wolfgang survived, I enjoyed all the characters being alive during the prologue, mock trial then Chapter 1's daily life 😭 I'm scared for the next chapter, I really want my other favs to survive, but I don't know if it's true but iirc, there will only be two survivors for this killing game? (not sure if this is accurate or not).

The conflict between people liking the culprits and victims and disliking the characters and victims and bashing on the characters who die is insane

I knew it was going to be someone from the Dining Hall precisely bcs they had the strongest alibi. That’s a twist. I just hoped it wasn’t either Eva or Mark. And if it had to be one of them, I prefer Mark to be safe over Eva. But, to be more excited I preferred to think it was someone from outside. My most suspicious people were Diana, Toshiko and Ingrid. I was rooting to think it had to be one of them based on what made sense. Diana bcs she had no alibi, and her excuses were convenient. Well turns out she had to do but wasn’t the killer. Ingrid, her headache was too convenient. + she was able to see the party heading down. Toshiko, bcs she return to the pharmacy. Also the thing about the footsteps and the socks and maybe she was lying about Wolfgang. But I just couldn’t explain to myself how they could cause the blackout if it was bcs of the Taser Gun. Regarding the ones that were at the Dining Hall. I thought it had to be either Eva or Mark. At a point in the Class Trial I was scared for Mark. Bcs he was Jett’s roommate. But then I thought it has to be Eva. She had Desmond’s blackmail. There’s just no other way.

Ngl. I geniunely thought she will be the Kyoko/Maki of the game because of how she was acting Also isn’t it a funny coincidence that the first person we see when we wake up in the killing game was Eva and the second person we see was Wolfgang?

Im upset shes gone, especially after everything she went through. She really didnt deserve such a gruesome death...

Seeing Damon crying was something I didn’t expect at all… And yet somehow that made it more painful. Ultimately though, I think Eva being the first killer fits in with the chapter’s theme of hypocrisy. Especially since most of Eva’s problems were caused by Eva herself and not anyone else. It was Eva who chose to lie to everyone more than once and pushed them away. She lied about her talent. She lied about the files so people wouldn’t see she was a mathlete under the guise of protecting everyone. It was Eva who pushed away and betrayed Diana who gave her more than one opportunity to have a friend and be accepted into the group despite her differing opinions. And ultimately she had Damon, the only person who agreed with her views standing with her and yet she used him and tried to throw him under the bus when she was trapped in a corner during the trial. And it was her who killed Wolfgang, the guy who said she was dangerous and ended up proving him right. And the end of the day, she blamed everyone else there for her problems. Yeah they’re not innocent in this either but at the same time, Eva is the one who proved everyone right in being afraid or wary of her. The first chapter is about hypocrisy. And it is very fitting that the killer be dripping in it. Someone who until the very end never took responsibility. I think it’s honestly very smart.

Lo que más me duele de todo esto es que NECESITABA ver más del desarrollo de la relación entre Eva y Damon... Por dios, se pasan todo el capítulo trabajando el uno con el otro, me pasé los 4 tiempos libres con ella y terminamos así... Realmente espero que los de PEG jueguen la carta de "luto" o algo parecido con Damon, puesto que si bien nuestro prota se hace el fuerte y todo, está clarísimo que el hecho de que Eva haya sido la asesina y a su vez alguien en quien confiaba (al menos un poquito, porque si no, por qué revelarle el chantaje de Wolfgang?) le debe haber afectado Bueno, a esperar dos años más!
