Awesome time to have a Blizzard, just enjoy the beauty of winter over the holidays.
Very cool! ❤
So very helpful and well explained. Thank you
Thank you! So thorough, and that magnet tip is genius! ❤
Thank you!!
You're welcome!
Hey there! I am cleaning my Singer 9444 sewing machine and there is some gunky yellow grease in a few spots. I am wondering if I should clean it off and oil it with some all purpose sewing machine oil, or if it serves a different purpose. I watched your oiling video and I’m confused that you only put it on the wick and no where else. My manual gives me no info on cleaning and maintenance so I have no idea what to do 🥲
It's probably just extra grease but you can certainly clean that up a bit! In my oiling video, I give an in depth tutorial on how to oil your machine. What I didn't cover is that you can also oil the needle bar with a few drops to help the upper run smoother.
Why my machine pulling the cloth and break the thread please help me
Unfortunately that's not enough info to really give a great answer but I would check out my troubleshooting tips video for some help. It might get you back on track!
Thank you for the video! Jess told me about it @behindtheseamswithjess
Thanks for watching! Don't forget to subscribe to save the video for later!
Oiling and greasing machine?
Check out my channel for a separate video dedicated to how to oil your machine!
Great video!! I just watched some other videos and they said that singer HD are not really heavy duty machines. Could you please give your opinion on that too 😊
While it's not an industrial machine, it is much better than other 'strong & tough' or 'heavy duty' machines I have used! I can hem denim just fine with this where I couldn't with other machines. I guess it really depends on what you intend to do with it.
@sewingwithstacy so you recommend singer HD for heavy duty sewing at home? Is singer HD 6800c a good machine? I just got a used one. What other HD machines have you tried? Thank you so much 💓
Ummm, my 4423 doesn’t have a wick… at least not one I can get to through the hole under the bobbin case - is there any chance it’s different cause it’s a different model or is something wrong?
Hmmm I’m not sure. I know I had to use tweezers to get mine out.
Can you use a vacuum to clean out the lint? Thanks
Sure!
Thanks a lot for your reply and also I’m confident to open and clean the machine from now on.
You can do it!
You mentioned presser foot post. My fabric most of the time gets caught there, especially, thin cottons etc , I’m just into only cottons and it get caught there. I have to sometimes cut the fabric out, or gently push it up with a sharp thin screwdriver like tool. Any suggestions to avoid it. Especially , when I reverse stitch it happens.
If it’s getting stuck at the beginning of your projects, you might be backstitching off the edge and then the edge of the fabric is so thin that it has the chance to get pushed up or down since there is a bit of an opening right there. Does your stitching come out ok? If it seems tight, try loosening your tension. That might help the issue as well.
Thanks, very informative and complete. 👍👍
Glad you liked it!
Thanks very much from Solomon Islands.
Welcome! Thanks for watching!
As a guy study martial art this make sew alot easier thank you stacy
You’re welcome. Happy to help!
Thank you !!!!!! ;)
No problem!
HELLO! I did your steps for troubleshooting. All, of them just to make sure Then I did a sample stitch on a cut from the same exact fabric that im.usung, no loops anywhere. As soon as I put my project back in the machine it's back loops city!! Help!
My only other tip I can offer without seeing it, is to make sure you are fully lowering your presser foot once you are ready to sew.
How to winde bobbins and tension
Check out my channel for a bobbin winding tutorial. Thanks!
Nowhere in my maual for the 9340 Singer sewing machine does it say to oil it! Crazy!
They say that these machines come “oiled for life” but that’s only if you use it like once a year, and even then, it will eventually get gummy. So silly!
My machine doesn't have that cotton wick. So, what should I do?
Hmmm… that idk. Maybe check with customer service. If you have this model, it may be a factory defect.
Question!! Does the upper part need oiling as well? I can clearly hear the piston complaining if I use the machine very slowly. At normal speed I wouldn’t hear it, but… 👀
Yes! You can and should also oil the needle bar. You have to remove the upper cover from the side. (Screw is near the thread cutter.) then add a few drops the the solid bar that runs vertically. It should help!
Fumbled the little screw while trying to put the little plate back on and it fell down into the bottom. What a hassle.
I’ve done it once before too! A little magnet stick helped me get it out!
@@sewingwithstacy Good idea!
Great job, this is much better than the Singer channel's buttonhole tutorial.
Wow, thanks!
Thank You!!!!!!!!!!
You're welcome!
I need to oil top
you have to remove your upper machine cover and add oil to the uptake bar.
Thank you very much, I have problems with the threader before
no problem!
Hello there May 4452 sewing machine is stuck in reverse what do you think the problem is?
Check to make sure your back stitch bar/button isn’t stuck down.
Hi, thank you for sharing this video. It is helpful, I was wondering if I can oil the machine without taking the arm off?
As long as you can get to the wick, you can oil it!
Hi thanks for the brother video. Can you tell me where you bought you cat wall thread holder? I just love it 🤩
It was actually gifted to me by a friend!
Excellent! Thank you so much!!!
No problem
Wow, after the show you have to do all the laundry?
During the show I am finishing the next performance set. After the show, I’m preparing for the show after next.
Impressive, thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching!
Wow, impressive
Thanks!
Oiling??
I have a separate video on how to oil your machine. Check it out and subscribe if you find it helpful.
This is a GREAT video! Thank you for being so clear! I didn't know about the saddle and back stitch! I didn't know how to tie a knot with the needle! So helpful! Thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
I sent one back because it wouldn't work on my project. I'm making those hanging towls for the front of your stove. Do you think this machine will get the job done.
Im using a pot holder for the hanger. Help!
If I can't sew these towels then I won't buy it.
I needn't buy this one. It was a fy310. But it won't sew right. This one says it will sew heavy stuff. I just want to know if you think if the brother machine do the job.
I think this does a good job of getting through heavy materials. I do prefer the Singer heavy duty for really thick projects though. You just have to take it slow and make sure you have the proper needles and thread. Good luck!
I've followed the instructions to oil my singer 4452 machine. I have replaced the bobbin house leaving it a bit loose for the thread to pass through but now my machine won't work properly. The thread seems to catch and I can't get it to stitch now.
best thing to try is unthreading and rethreading completely.
@@sewingwithstacyOmg that worked! Thank you!
Who up oiling up they machine
if you sew a lot, you should! it's kind of like getting oil changes on your car.
this is exactly the kind of project I need, THANK YOU SEWINGWITHSTACY!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Bonjour Stacy, j'ai bien suivi votre vidéo. J'ai nettoyé ma machine mais problème je ne sais pas remettre le porte bobine. Pourriez vous me donner des conseils ? Merci d'avances.
The bobbin housing should just drop right back in. Just make sure that the orange/yellow dot lines back up to the front of the machine.
Merci Stacy, après plusieurs jours à m'arracher les cheveux, j'y suis enfin arrivée.😅
Agh I didn’t know the bobbin housing arm is supposed to come out. Mine will NOT budge 😭
No worries, sometimes you can move the flywheel by hand until the hook race is at the back and the bobbin housing will lift out. So turn the fly wheel by hand and gently lift the bobbin housing until it comes free.
Great video! Thanks so much.
You are so welcome!
Help! My fabric is gathering. How do I fix this!!!
Check out my video on troubleshooting. Some helpful tips there.
Oh my, things have changed! Who'd have known a wick is what they use these days! Thank you for the tute. I've just cleaned and oiled it AND I don't have to struggle with threading it now either.
Yay!!
You don’t need to remove anything to get the bobbin case out. You manually turn the handwheel to put the hook race to the back then the bobbin case comes out.
I’ve tried that and it works on only 1 of 4 of the machines I have so I figured others might have that issue too.
Thank you Stacey. I cleaned my Singer Curvey today, but not under the Bobbin case. Will do this first thing tomorrow morning.
You got this! Have fun!
I just got a Singer Heavy Duty 4452 and I can’t find what bobbin it uses. 15 or 15j. Can you tell me? I have a message into Singer because I am new to sewing. Thx
So… this is great debate about this, but I use general metal bobbins. I almost never use the plastic ones the machine comes with. You can use the metal or the plastic, just pick one or the other. The housing becomes acclimated to what you choose.
Thank you for this video too. Just saw how to clean your sewing machine. I will be cleaning my sister's machine this week. 🤞
You are so welcome! Have fun!
