Kerry Anderson...State Title Holder 2023...Roger Pace "The Ancient Shotgunner"
Kerry is a 3 times State Title Winner. She is a good shot and in this video she talks us through her gun mount routine. It obviously works for her. In a sport where women can truly compete against the men ,on an equal footing ,it is surprising that more women are not participating in the sport. We also have a look at the ShootOff stock and the 2 piece recoil pad designed for women. Hope you enj...
Gun Mount...National Champion...Gary Coppola...Roger Pace "The Ancient Shotgunner"
In this video I asked Gary Coppola, a National Australian Champion In 2018, and a State Champion Winner in 2023, to talk us through his gun mount. A consistent gun mount is extremely important if we want our gun to shoot, where we look, in the same place, every time.He gives some good advice, and obviously that gun mount works for him. From time to time I will get other good shooters to talk us t...
Shooting with one eye open...Roger Pace..."The Ancient Shotgunner"
In this video we watch Rino Rossi, who recently won the State Single Barrel Championship. He shoots with one eye closed. We watch him shoot and get an insight into what a one eyed shooter sees. Does he always see the barrels or the front bead?. For the final shot, we had a power failure, and so the clay did not come out of the trap house. Thank you for watching...if you are a one eyed shooter I...
Check your point of impact...Roger Pace ...The Ancient Shotgunner
In this video we look at how to check your point of impact...or...does your gun shoot where you look? It is good to do this every few months to reassure ourselves that our point of impact is,indeed, where we look. You will see that my POI was to the left. You will see where my pattern is and I then moved my stock 2mm to the right and that put the pattern right on centre.. Hope you enjoy the vid...
Left handed shooter set up ...Roger Pace...."The Ancient Shotgunner"
In this video, Mario, and his famous $5 gun, shows us how he sets up as a left handed shooter. We look at his gun hold points and also where he looks for the clay, out in the distance, .and always in soft focus.. As we talk ,clays are going off everywhere. I manage to get most of the shots on camera so that we can see them breaking quite clearly. Hope you enjoy the video and I hope you find it ...

Review...2 Bertuzzi Shotguns and a Beretta SO6 EELL ...Roger Pace
In this video we look at 2 shotguns made by the Bertuzzi Brothers in Brescia Italy. One brother did the metal work and the other Brother did the wood. The chequering was done by their sister. No one in the family wanted to continue in the gun making business so the two brothers have closed up shop. No one knows how many firearms they produced. The beretta SO6 is a magnificent example of great w...

In this video...I thought I would spare you having to be constantly bombarded by my face...so I have invited 3 guest shooters. They all had to shoot 3 targets...from lane 4 and explain their set up...each one is different. Bruno is a good shot and is shooting his DT 11. Rino won the State Single Barrel Championship...just a few days ago...he is shooting his DT 11 which he is always constantly w...
Lane 3...things to watch out for...Roger Pace
In this video we look at lane 3. This is the centre of the layout . There are no hard left or right swingers. The targets come out within a range of 44 degrees. We tend to relax on this lane because the angle that the clay takes is only small. However, many targets are missed from this lane because we might get a straight away target... but are they truly straight...or do they bend a little? Ho...
Lane 2...Very windy today...Tips and Tricks...Roger Pace
Extremely windy today. We shoot from Lane 2. The angles are a bit easier, but there is no room for complacency. "Easy to hit, easy to miss." our gun hold point is 3/8, of the width of the trap house, from the left. Various techniques are used to hit the clay, but what we always do is 'SEE BIRD...SHOOT BIRD.' We let our subconscious do the shooting. Do I hit them all ...watch and see. Thank you f...
Lane 1...Tips Tricks Hits and Misses !...,Roger Pace
In this video we shoot from Lane 1 . On this lane we need to position ourselves so that we can comfortably swing our body for the left hand swinger. Our gun hold point is 1/4, of the length of the trap house, from the left. We let our subconscious do the shooting. It is "see bird...shoot bird". We do not hesitate, we do not think. We see it we shoot it !!! I also demonstrate one or two other sh...

Over the years people have often asked me to do a video of some live action on the layout. People who watch my videos know that I usually sit in my study and give out advice about how to shoot clays. Well the time has come for me to "put up or shut up" In this video I shoot one clay from each lane. Did I hit them all???? Watch the video and find out. Thanks for watching. Stay well !!! ...Roger ...

Use it when practicing your gun mount to ensure that it is consistent all the time. Let me know what you think. Stay well, happy shooting and thank you for watching Roger Pace

Hi Roger.. I am left eye dominant and have been shooting right handed. Is it ok if I pick up the target with both eyes open and close my left eye when I pull the trigger
Such a simple explanation... Same pressure EVERY time
Spot on, keep them open. You wouldn't close an eye playing tennis etc.
😂😂
Thank you for your insight! I'm Left hand/Right eye, and was ready to give up on trying out skeet shooting after borrowing a shotgun, and trying two days of contorting my head to the left, to get my good right eye down the rib and bead. I got 1/25 or whatever it is. I'll try your way of not aiming, and if that doesn't work, then try the harder option, and switch to the right hand!
Great video, didnt know about the lever release! Thanks
I’ve seen non ported barrels with virtually no muzzle flip.
thank you unc roger. ima lefty with left dominant but like to shoot guns with right hand. always felt a bit odd with closed eye. shooting a bit right than used to. still new to this tho
Theres nothing wrong with the gun. Change the selector to the left and it will fire the second round. This is how hum caps work
Hello roger hope all is well with you. Will u be posting any videos again.we miss them
Thanks for the tips the biggest thing I have noticed in the short time of shooting clays is that consistency is key. Once you get these pointers in your head your score will improve as I have found out.
Is that straw trick with one eye open or both eyes open
What type of grease is best for sp?
What type of grease is best for sp?
High rib is great to see your target without blocking it with the bead. 60/40 or 70/30 is great for rising targets. Take a look a trap guns...
I wish you would have talked about how to correct the cast of the stock. I know my new gun doesn't fit because another one I have fits great, and it has a cost off of 1/4 inch.
Great tips
Very useful video! Thanks!
Very simple and next to free is a peice of clear cellophane Scotch tape on you shooting glasses. Enough to use two eyes and and have the brain use the eye that has no tape over it.
Your correct, but the video don't lie. The toe hits your shoulder first, every time. Nice video.
And beretta brx1 no. BX016931?
Is there a way of loosening up the silver pigeon 1 ? A friend purchased one recently and even with lube it’s very tight.
Then we see it, then we shoot it. Sounds easy. Thanks.
Thank You For This Video ❤

Thanks for this amazing info.
👏👏👏
How did you raise the comb? Glued leather or rubber?
Just tried this. Works great. And really helps me to get my adjustable stock spot on. Thank you.
Great video! Have you ever had an issue with the gun not wanting to break after you’ve assembled it out of storage? My issue is: when I’m storing the gun, I use snap caps to release firing pins. Then I let the lever down. Once I go to reassemble the gun, it takes effort to break the gun open for the first (and only first) time. It also makes a painful sound, as is something was cracking. Ever heard of this? Thanks again!
Roger.....do you use your Silver P. 686 Sporting for trap or some other clay shooting discipline. If yes, does it serve well for trap? I have recently joined a club that has a 5 Stand Sporting set up as well as Trap shooting......and skeet also.
Roger.....do you use your Beretta 686 Sporting for trap shooting or some other discipline?
Good video....very helpful ....Southport NC USA
Very helpful.....thank you
Just changed my shotgun so looking for advice on checking gun fit, tried the drinking straw method and it was perfect alignment. Made sense in the explanation and getting a good result can only increase confidence. New gun has a much thicker stock but it's bang on with this test.
Sounds like a brilliant trick! I'm trying this when I get home!
Hi Roger love your videos. I've just patterned my Beretta sp1 Not an adjustable comb. It's shooting slightly left, any thoughts of altering the comb.? Many thanks in advance.
Ported barrels are absolutely worthless on all fronts! i'd bet anyone that they could never tell the difference if all else could be held equal. And if you could not tell how much louder they are than non-ported barrels when standing next to them, you are deaf as a post! A marketing ploy. Nothing else.
My Lincoln only has numbers
Perfect gun fit instructions. Thanks.
Simple instructions in a short amount of time. Well done Sir and Thank you 🙏🏻
Glad it was helpful! Thank you for watching...much appreciated.!!!
Whats up Roger ? Getting old and no new films ?
nice job!
Thanks! ...and thank you for watching !!!
Beretta , Italians do it better .
Yes ok
Miss your videos Roger… Was at Skeet practice this morning. And remembered See Bird Shoot Bird. Hope you are well and have more video content coming.
Thank you very much...I promise I will do a video in the next two weeks Stay well, happy shooting and thank you for watching !!
Very rare in. Canada I would buy one if it was still in good condition in a heartbeat. Yes they were too expensive to make. So the DT-10 was born
Neil the only gun I have had that has not had an issue. You are very right. Stay well ...Never been to Canada ...maybe one day !!!
Thank you Roger
You are very welcome. Stay well, happy shooting and thank you for watching !!
Great video, thank you. I just hold a nickel firmly against each firing pin to release the pressure. It’s soft enough to dent similar to a primer and this saves the assembly/disassembly steps.
Very true. Good on you ! Stay well, happy shooting and thank you for watching !!
Just out of curiosity, what length barrel do you have on your 686 for Trap Shooting?
Joe My 686 had, i think, 28 inch barrels. I have since sold it and bought a second hand ASE gold Beretta with 30 inch barrels Stay well, happy shooting and thank you for watching !!
