Scoliosis Explained
มุมมอง 358ปีที่แล้ว
What is scoliosis? Can you cure it? Is it genetic? Do you need surgery? Can you still play sports? Will your back hurt later in life? Does physical therapy work? These are questions I get all the time from kids and parents during initial evaluations for scoliosis, so I thought I would consolidate my answers into this video for anyone curious. These answers apply mainly to adolescent idiopathic ...

I have plantar fasciitis for 8 months now and 3 doctors told me to buy HOKA which I did and they are making me worse in every way. I throw them in the trash yesterday. I got so many problem wearing them... I juts ordered toes spacer~~~
Sleep. It does wonders if u have any problems with sleep
I did look up scoliosis exercises and there’s a bunch that actually help
How about a over the counter insole with a Met pad built in? Also I run ultra races up to 100 miles. My fear regarding toe spacers would be they may give me blisters between the toes. Perhaps wear the spaces over toe socks? Thoughts?
@vagnsteen5130 Both good ideas. I don't run much, but I will put spacers over toe socks if I do it for any meaningful duration. And assuming the built in met pad is positioned appropriately for your foot that should work well
I have scoliosis and believe I was born with it. I tried minimilist sneakers cause they look cool, the benefits seem logical and because i ecpected it to help my upperback pain. It didnt help.
@Mor2know-qm7pe Pain is complex, as are the solutions. Footwear may only be a piece of the puzzle, or perhaps not a necessary piece at all in regards to your back pain
Those shoes will not work at my job. My shoes must be slip proof, waterproof and safety toe so those shoes would be pointless.
@loriolson3191 I've heard red wing king toe are pretty wide, haven't tried myself but may accommodate toe spacers
That's why animals are so healthy and full of energy...they are always grounded ❤
Diameter? I wanna buy
@@siragito405 I believe this was a 2in dowel
interesting but that music, jeez. very distracting
My MN is on my right foot but between my 2nd & 3rd toe. If you tape the toes would you tape the 1st and 2nd and then the 3rd & 4th?
Is 10 minutes a day enough? Or need to be for longer than 10 mins?
I'm pretty sure that my scoliosis was caused by me falling down an entire stair case at barely 3 years old, I hit my left eye on a step and got it cut, my parents later told me that they remembered that they could see through my eyelid and that they could hardly look at me, I passed out from pain and the blood and trauma while getting stitched up got me to forget about the whole event for a good portion of my life, not wanting to look back although I had vague memories and maybe that I also suffered a concussion. But it's like I was cut out from the pain in my body and I stayed tense in my muscles and tissues. I think that my pelvis probably got misplaced from the fall and that parts of my spine suffered pretty severe impacts, although I've had other falls later on in my life as a kid, but my body never adjusted, because I was completely shut off from pain and in this rigidity. They fixed the cut, but I wasn't given any X-rays or anything to see if I had anything broken or misplaced, I was just sent back home (I live in France and am in my 20s). The fact that I've never been asked if I had traumas in the past by any professional or specialist deeply questions me, the lack of research and studies, even statistical ones is very problematic. I've also realized that scoliosis is an industry and that some professions make a living out of chirurgical treatments or braces for exemple. I'm not saying that you're responsible of this, but I want to challenge you in what you think that you know about scoliosis, I'm aware that I might have my own bias and blindspots. But I still can't understand that we cannot explain medical causes of scoliosis or that we haven't found ways to treat it. I would have given all of my money away to the one person that could have got me to heal and trust me that is more money than any professional could ever make with their specific treatments from treating one person and there's many people like me in my situation, that would go as far as selling their houses to be freed from this burden. I don't even think that the traditional ways to address scoliosis or some cases at least create viable businesses because they're not scalable. What the industry does is keep people in misery and the only alternatives to surgery that doesn't fix the underlying issue, are all these money vampiric ways to cope with the condition. I kinda feel like scoliosis specialists are scams so I'm starting to accept the condition and I expect that if I am to heal from it, that it will come from myself and that I will have to figure out the causes on my own at this point. Because I just do not trust the multitude of doctors and specialists that I've seen, some of them openly lying to my face.
@gallici-anima-christiana Sorry to hear about your experience. I'm happy to discuss further if you're interested
@@DrHoulihan It's okay and thank you. So you're aware I don't live in the US, but sure I'd be willing to talk if that's not a problem for you.
@gallici-anima-christiana Not a problem, you can reach me at achoulihan@gmail.com
There is not a shoe wide enough for my extra extra extra wide feet. I think I developed neuropathy from decades of overly tight shoes. I wish I can use toe spreaders, but I would have to go bare feet 24/7.
Thanx
And yet these people have actually results to back up their claims instead of hypotheticals, theories and some fancy letters in front of their name
If you have scoliosis… don’t listen to this guy… there are many wonder videos that are legitimate and what he is promoting here is fear mongering… probably, about 95% of the videos for scoliosis on TH-cam also help treat the very problems he is trying to scare you with…
Standing or walking w/ my barefeet inside the concrete flooring of my house will have the same effect as standing on the soil outside of the house?
I haven’t pooped solid in a year, I don’t have pain just gassy
LOL what an idiot
Hey doc I work at a warehouse, it’s mandatory to wear steel toe shoes or composite toe shoes. I can’t find Hokas with composite toe
how long should i ground each day.
But what of you have achilles tendinopathy too, zero drop heal is going to make that worse
Damn They on his D tuff 🤦🏾♀️
Bravo!!!!!!!
BRAVO!!!!!!!!
Be so careful w Cbd bc can have thc and if ever had a head injury it can really give you wild symptoms.
What's the name of the practitioner for this
Soft Star just dropped their primal Chelsea Boots, which cost a little more money, but are going to be wider and barefoot/correct toes friendly.
what about lebron james? one of thr greatest athletes of all time has a toe that’s pointed inward and he performs at the highest level. Also, a lot of athletes in general have this tendency as well yet they perform at the highest level
@chrisk2423 It's not that suboptimal foot health will automatically disable an athlete, but it can be an important tool in a toolbox of items for improving performance
Is earthing with whole body (laying on grass no shirt and no pants) better than just feet? Does larger surface of the body allow more flow of electrons? Logically yes, but can someone break this down? Thanks
How's the durability on these? The soles look good but the leather upper seems a bit flimsy
@@bangbangcabrera Still going strong for me
@@DrHoulihanGlad to hear! Thank you!
A question about this but for people with high arches. Walking barefoot really hurts the heels and feet in general. Would this help out at all?
@bridgetbarrera difficult to say, there's more I would need to know. Could possibly allow you to comfortably distribute more weight to forefoot if that is what irritates the heel
DONE GOUNDING OFF AND ON FOR 10 YEARS AND STUDIED EVERYTHING. THE ORIGINATORS OF "EARTHING", OR GROUNDING DID TESTS THAT SHOW IT TAKES 45 MINUTES FOR ELECTRONS TO AFFECT EVERY CELL IN OUR BODIES. 45 MINUTES TO ELIMINATE INFLAMMATION, THIN OUR BLOOD, AND OTHER BENEFITS. MY INTEREST & SEARCH NOW IS TO SEE ANY EFFECT ON CANCER. AS A BUILDING CONTRACTOR, NEVER USE ANY HOME WIRING (LIKE GROUND WIRE). LIGHTNING STRIKE NEAR HOME WILL KILL U.
What do you think of the RFA - the "hot needle" approach? I think I am going forward with it.
@@scottg3472 It's pretty successful from what I understand

Please go to another hospital, you have to persist
I need high cushion shoes, can the toe part be elevated a bit higher?
And not everyone has the luxury of hiring physio.. definitely we wont visit ur clinic for being too selfish to share ur knowledge n skills
Coz other wise u wont make any money out of it
I had them since childhood. My mother has them also, my grandfather also.. How are they not genetic? I mean.. How? Genuine question?
This has helped manage my autism a lot better. I’m less stress and getting less paranoid which is a common symptom of autism. Thanks Doctor 🫡 👨⚕️
Grounding? No Way! 1-Because it’s available in far too many locations. 2-It’s too inexpensive (cheap) to access. 3-Because individuals & companies cannot package and resell it for a profit. 4-Because it’s not available in travel sizes. 5- Because my partner still can’t find a location in a color to match her skin color. 6-Because I’m unable to find any listing with a toll free 800 phone number and it’s return policy!
Nice vid thanks for sharing
Hi, on my left foot my big toe points inward like a bunion and sometimes I get a shooting pain near the heel of my foot roughly where that nerve is. What does that mean?
Yeah if its you own .gym.not in public.gym😂
This makes sense to me because we came from the dust, and to the dust we shall return to. ✝️🕊️🙌🏼❤️
I am so confused.... 50% of people say go carnivore and the other 50% say go vegan.
Resume of my research so far. Hope this can help you. What they both have in common is "restrictive eating", starting with no refined sugar, no process foods, no seed oils, no chemicals such as additives and preservatives, eating less often. The other thing I'm also noticing is that maybe some of use are supposed to eat mostly vegan and others mostly carnivore ??? Could be due to genetics and hereditary genes and maybe a lack of proper microbiome in the gut. I recently got diagnosed with Crohn's, however last summer I had to undergo antibiotic treatment to save my foot from a weird aggressive aquatic bacteria. I'm thinking that my body is now lacking certain types of good bacteria to digest and handle certain types of foods, I'm now trying to re-establish my good bacteria via multiple fermented foods and even probiotic yogurt enema's. I also cleaned up my diet, even though it was 90% clean to begin with. I've added magnesium citrate supplements, lots of vit D 10000UI per day, L-glutamine, curcumin tablets, ginger, apple cider vinegar, and intermittent fasting, 16/8h, only 2 meals per day and 3 to 4 day fast per every few months to reset and clean my immune system.
You can list a lot of pros and cons and you don't have to prove anything. There're 24 different body types and you talk like there is one. And all people are the same.
I wish that they made a crocs with zero drop and no arch support : /
So you want money first before sharing what could help the majority of who cant afford it?
