    Loved your home video - the post-war 40's seemed to be such a happy time, with WWII over and families being reunited and growing. I was a result of the post-war baby boom, having been born in 1952 and the eldest of four. Love the house and seeing the beginning of what now, 70+ years later, a well-established area. Current views of the house look just like the original - I had to google the address and see what the home looks like today. Is it still in the family?

      Glad you liked the video and it was meaningful for you. My folks sold the home in 1955 and moved into another still in Wellesley. I started 5th grade in a different school which worked out fine when I got to Junior and Senior High cause I had friends from two elementary schools instead of just one. I am blessed with the family and childhood that I had.

Four of my family in this video have gone home to Jesus. One child was in a bad car accident in 1994 but survive with severe injuries. He's doing well but had a long recovery. You're welcome, so glad you enjoyed it and it was memorable for you. We indeed had wonderful family gatherings when our families were young. Kids are now in early 50s and we are spread all over the country so these gatherings are wonderful memories of our past. This video is digitized from my Super 8 movie film which I shot using a Kodak camera with a mounted spot light for indoor shooting. No sound. I used a Wolverine Moviemaker digitizer I bought on line to digitize the film to mp4 files. I did not want to send out my movies for digitizing so did them at home on my own. I'm retired so had the time. I eventually graduated to analog video camcorder and then a couple of different digital camcorders so my later videos have sound. I'm gradually working thru all the raw video footage I have saved. I have about 50 finished videos on my channel now. Thanks again...

      If you still have your Dad's films, you can get them digitized to MP4 files either send out or take to local photo shop. Get the files back on an SD card or USB thumb drive then load onto your PC hard drive and edit with downloaded or online software to make into finished video. Most 8 mm and Super 8 film will require a speed change in the MP4 file to make it look same as the original. It's worth doing as the old film will deteriorate eventually and be lost forever. Blessings.... DM

      @@becky-in3tw Exactly right. We live in the moment never realizing that it might be one of the precious few that we'll look back on as having been among the best. I'm so thankful that my grandfather started the habit of documenting family with an 8 mm, wind up, movie camera. I continued it going from film to video along the way. Now I have hours of these wonderful records to edit and save, over 50 so far from 1940's and up. Many more to do. Blessings DM

    I don't think this way because I'm a pessimist or a depressed person, but I wonder which of these individuals is now dead, which ones no longer talk to each other because of petty BS, and which ones are divorced? Decades of talking to families and hearing there stories as a funeral director is why I wonder these things. I'm glad to see they open presents "the right way" handing out one at a time, announcing who they are to and from while everyone watches.

    • @Dave-Maynard-videos
      @Dave-Maynard-videos 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Interesting perspective you have but with life experience to go with it. I can tell you that there are three of my family in this video that are deceased, one was critically injured in an auto accident, none have divorced and all would very gladly look forward to gathering and would lovingly interact with each other should we ever get together like this again. We have been and are ndeed a very blessed family.

    • @Dave-Maynard-videos
      @Dave-Maynard-videos 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you for your comment and concern. How did you come to view this video and what did you think was embarrassing? I use YT to create videos from a variety of old family films and videos. I'm not aware of a better or easier forum to use in order for my far flung family to easily access my videos. The choice of "visibility" is not easy to make to allow the best access to any videos. Perhaps you're familiar with the visibility choices and their limitations. I have many private and unlisted videos on my channel as well but we have a crazy/normal family that hasn't objected to the ones I make public...so far. It also confounds me as to why certain of my videos will have so many views while others are relegated to obscurity.

    • @louisehans9771
      @louisehans9771 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Dave-Maynard-videos I found it by scrolling thru' YT. I am not on facebook but I understand that many family members share photos and old movies there. What I find embarrassing is (I come from a crazy/normal family) that do they all agree to be posted for everyone in the world to see. Maybe I just am too private a person. I did enjoy seeing a wonderful close family at Christmas. I did not to mean to be rude.

    • @Dave-Maynard-videos
      @Dave-Maynard-videos 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks for explaining how you came across my video. I'm still trying to figure out the dynamics of YT. I did not take your comment for rudeness but just the expression of someone, as you say, who is more private than we are. I'm very careful about my video editing to avoid anything that would be embarassing for a family member. We have always gotten along and I would never publish something that would be harmful. The most embarassing thing in this video would be the two guys with their gift shorts on over their pants posing as geeks. One is my son and the other is my deceased, nephew/godson. They would be the first to enjoy and laugh at themselves as they entertained the rest of the family. Blessings...
