Taking the old truck to both former Ionia Kmart stores and former Kmart express. Kmart started in a old Grant City building on Steel st in 1976 and relocated to the State rd location in 1992. The new store came with a Kmart express gas station/auto center. The store closed in 2008 but the gas station remained open till the late teens.

The tree had a function but McDonald's don't what a clusterfuck idealogy of humans
I'm really confused about where's the garden center and the interior and the exterior where it used to be
😢
Came for 3:25 😭 it makes the video even more sentimental and sad William Vanheest died in 2007 and I think Thelma is still alive, but goes under a different name
Working by the hour...milking the cow ...taking it easy...playing the game and making money.
We miss those stores help a lot of people
If you’re going to demo it then do it!!!!!!! Stop f-in around. Get it done 6 hours max for that build. I do it every day
Y the tree. Could have just built around it

I like the 1981 or 1982 beige Malibu Classic in several shots!
Retail space typically has a service life of about 40 years. K-Mart typically underinvested in upgrading the stores to become more attractive to customers, and they generally became bleak places in which to shop. This pattern held true across the corporation, and eventually store after store failed. Contrast its obvious competitors Target and Wal*Mart. In the end, K-Mart did not even maintain its marquees. Of course other entities with much the same sort of building and price point -- Gibson's in the South, Pamida in the North, and earlier W T Grant and Ames, also went belly-up. Low-margin retailing and attractive shopping obviously contradict. Retailers cannot thrive without healthy profit margins; if they have low margins, they will become unattractive places in which to shop, and their volume of sales will plummet.
A.I
this is abandoned
It looks like every K-Mart I ever went to.
The guy knocking it down must be paid by the hour. Its like watching paint dry lol
Well, if jobs are not exactly knocking your door down, and there's nothing on the calendar for the next few weeks, why rush it? Not saying thats the case, but I don't imagine jobs are too plentiful at the start of winter either.
The tree.... really? Don't care about the building but they could have torn the building down without messing up the tree
Kmart was a family vibe company
Keep America's economy moving, more demo, more jobs...
That is the old vintage Kmart sign
What a great video I enjoy watching your videos keep making great videos I like your videos a lot keep making great videos I like your videos keep making great videos
I remember going in this store.. i was in 9th grade when the new meijer opened. I always felt a bit sad.. i was always walking up here or riding .y bike to meijers. Back then pokemon cards were huge and id go in and boost them lol. Then go eat the free cheese at the deli counter. I still remember how it looks vividly. It felt cozy
its cool

Why wasn't that beautiful tree protected? Where I live they wouldn't have been fined $50,000-100,000 depending on the age of it.
What???!!! No Blue light on the demo equipment?

@@iamgroot1217 your welcome. 2/1/2024
I was never really a fan of Kfart even though my mom shopped there. even so, this is just sad that it had to end this way and no profitable use could be found for the building
What do they plan to build there?
Nothing
I found it odd that the bay doors were not worth re using
🤨 07:45 This looks like an old man slowly trying to eat a bowl of Captain Crunch cereal. Just get a wrecking ball. Why is this so slow?
Why NO DUST CONTROL???
So many in the community miss K-mart.
I would have thought those large beams would be harder to bend than this.
Welcome to McDonalds can I take your order please ... " yes I'll have one mcbush, shredded tree, mcbrick combo with extra insulation on the side, and a side of crushed glass " lol
When you don't accept Karen's expired coupon and she says she'll be back...
lol
Did anything ever take this buildings place?
I hope the operator is just new. It seems like he's afraid of hitting the walls
So why are half of the pads missing on those tracks????
Back when America was a safe and happy place to go out shopping.
I’m not from that area, but I experienced that entire era. Based on my memory I would say that 1984 was the year that brick and mortar retail was at its height and at its healthiest. Things went downhill after that. At first very slowly but as factories shut down more and more the downturn for brick and mortar retail accelerated. The 2008-9 financial crises sent the brick and mortar retail era to a point of it being beyond recovery. Online shopping didn’t kill the regular retail industry. It was already very sick by the time online shopping became a thing. Wall Street greed killed it including a Wall Street a-hole who merged K-mart and Sears together and doomed both of them.
Demolition by excavator goes quicker in sections than being built
Where was this at in Jenison?
USA shipped all jobs out to other countries
It said that William VanHeest died in 2007.
Looked like the building was already falling apart. Walls fell so easy. Roof was bad too
Ill take it down give me a sledgehammer an apple and 10 minutes
Got a blue light special on cinder blocks.
It wasn't a McDonald's
