6 UNDERESTIMATED Project Management SKILLS you want develop in 2023 🚀
There is a long list of skills a PM should have, that might be true. Since 2015 I have been working on all of my PM skills, and I would say that with your professional growth you need to focus on different areas. as a beginner PM there are definitely different priorities rather when you are a senior guy. At the same time we change while growing, our judgement changes, we uncover new improvement areas and it is a beauty of getting stronger professionally.
What are the key soft skills I feel are underestimated and would be a great asset in a professional journey?
00:38 - 1️⃣ empathy
02:14 - 2️⃣ ability to incorporate diversity into the team culture
04:04 - what is dogfooding
05:43 - 3️⃣ communication
06:25 - 4️⃣ business vision
08:22 - 5️⃣ have courage to PITCH ideas
09:46 - 6️⃣ be able to create SAFE environment for your team

I mean, fckups happen whatever our skills or experience are :) it's how we deal with them that matters. But it's always frustrating of course :) Loved the case studies! Multilanguage apps are SUCH a pain! I can certainly feel you there. I loved how you showed your resourcefulness, regardless that it wasn't needed at the time :) So the main lesson is ALWAYS coordinate your actions (and have them approved by!) with the client. We all learn the hard way :)

Ahh intros are tricky! And no it's not my inner youtuber speaking now :))) as a youtuber?? i dropped the intros altogether and it's fine, but as a professional? You have to be creative if you meet a conservative person. Loved the episode, Kristina! When I was laid off, I did the wrong thing by not re-thinking my priorities and jumping into the same career path again. The only change I've made was to accept a remote/WFH position. It was a huge jump for me anyways since I've been used to corporate, high-stress environment, but I should've done was to analyze my aspirations and re-think my career entirely. I still think about it, and actually I do research now from time to time to analyze the current situation and understand what I MIGHT do, in case I need to urgently apply anywhere. Great tips and insights, Kristina. Makes us think before making a move. 👊

Hi Kristina, I am in the process of applying for my PMP application. I have basically outlined my descriptions as you recommend and in the objective I’ve clearly outlined the project. For the description of the 5 process groups do I need to get any more detailed then outlining what I did in each part as you mentioned here. I just want to ensure I am do not need to be any more specific then saying “ I created the project charter and defined the stakeholders etc “

How about instead just make a new email ID, create new account on PMI, and make a fresh application with that email ID and hope for that application to not be picked up for an audit? I am planning on doing so, so your guidance is much sought. TIA
