In this milestone video, I share some of my latest triumphs in rehab after my patellar tendon rupture. I'm getting around without crutches although I still need to take them out in public. I'm standing in the shower which means I get to get a better shower than sitting on a chair. I can finally lift my heel off the ground after 4 weeks of my quad not working. Christmas decorations are up and I'...
3 Week Post Operation - Patellar Tendon Rupture
มุมมอง 8K4 ปีที่แล้ว
This is a milestone video 3 weeks post-operation on my patellar tendon. I have a couple of shots from physical therapy and talk a little about things I can do this week that I couldn't do last week. Keep that positive attitude and remember this injury takes time but it will heal! Have a Happy Thanksgiving!
2 Week Post Operation - Patellar Tendon Rupture
มุมมอง 3.8K4 ปีที่แล้ว
This is a 2 week milestone post-operation update from my patellar tendon. I've been told that I can begin putting weight on my leg, WBAT, but still not allowed to bend it for 4 weeks. I started back to work today, and will begin physical therapy on Wednesday. This is still expected to be a 6-9 month recovery, but every day gets a little better!

6 Days Post Patellar Tendon Surgery Q&A - Part 1 of 2

This is the first of a two-part series where we ask our friends and family to give us questions to answer. Eva, my oldest daughter and I did a Q&A where we answered 6 specific questions about what life is like now that I'm post surgery and what the next several weeks and months might look like.

In today's episode, I'm in Marks EZ Go showing y'all how I get around Belterra to stay mobile. Surgery was a great success, and Dr. Dustin Moore knocked it out of the park. The past 2 days have been off and on with pain. Last night from about 5-9 being the worst of the pain so far. I give props to all of the athletes competing in the Crossfit open workout 20.5 this weekend, and give a shout out...

My daughter Eva Foster helped me spice things up a bit by using iMovie and some tunes. In this episode, I am full of gratitude as we say thank you to many of my tribe. I talk about David Goggins book, "Can't Hurt Me" and give Stan Norgalis a huge shout out. I also discover Cameo for the first time as Former Texas A&M LB Tyrel Dodson wishes me well on my upcoming surgery. Thank you Richard Lindn...

    Hi, I completely tore my left patella tendon on 25th April 2024 -- whilst trying to jump and grab a 12ft wall on an obstacle course. I'm in a knee brace set at 30 degrees flexion. I've been doing some physio exercises and I can do side and rear leg raises fine, but the normal straight raise I cannot get it to lift (very frustrating). I can feel my quad trying to lift it, but from my knee down it refuses to activate. Do you have any tips/guidance for this? Thanks. Byron from UK!

    Mine was April 24th, day one post surgery, it’s very sore. Just the way it goes, it throbs. Be smart with your pain management, and take your time. If you are like me and go 100mph most of the time, this injury will teach you patience. Or it will drive you insane 😊. I would not stand without a brace in the shower till the licensed PT tells you you can. Error on the side of caution, remember everyday it gets a little better

    • @jbrandonfoster
      @jbrandonfoster หลายเดือนก่อน

      I didn’t shower for at least a week. I was unable to stand unassisted for a while… I showered on a shower chair for a while. Keep in mind your leg will be straight and immobile for several weeks. That makes showering challenging.

      I would say no. I am not a doctor. Use a garbage bag to cover your leg. My understanding is the licensed physical therapist will tell you when you can stand without the brace. Any questions call the doctor just to clarify. They don’t mind. If anything it shows that you really want to do what’s right and follow their directions, it’s a good thing. Good luck, in mid July you and I will be walking with no issues 👍

    • @jbrandonfoster
      @jbrandonfoster หลายเดือนก่อน

      My knee had to stay completely straight (part of the protocol) for 4 weeks.. I think I was 10-15 degrees after first month. It was a very long process.. but staying with the PT and you will eventually get your full flexion and strength back. I’m 4.5 years removed and this morning I did 250lb squat for 6 reps 🤷🏻🤷🏻

      @@jbrandonfoster Thanks for your feedback. I am 7 weeks post op and I can bend 84 degrees. Not only did I tear the patellar tendon in my accident, I also had a minor plateau tibial fracture, complete ruptured the ACL and meniscus tear. Today at physio, I was able to walk with only a single crutch. I have attempted to climb into my Ford F150 but that's a huge under taking. I cant drive my other vehicle because it is a manual shift.
