My name is Tyler and I have hobbies. Lots of hobbies. I'm not very experienced in any of them but I'm trying to learn. I've always wanted to get into video editing and tried a little back when we recorded on mini VHS tapes...that wasn't easy or much fun. Now that it has become much easier to do I added it to my list of hobbies. So that is what my channel is about. It's me (and sometimes my girlfriend, Jeanette, and my brother, Travis) venturing into somewhat unknown hobby territory. This includes painting or anything in the art realm, DIY projects (we have a lot of home projects on our list), bushcraft/camping, and any other hobby or interesting activity we try to explore. This is The Inexperienced Adventures!
Turning a Dresser into a Kitchen Island on Wheels
We turn an old dresser into a kitchen Island. The wood for the bottom was 3/4 inch plywood. The flip top and cubby lid were made from edge glued pine. The legs and wheels were purchased from Menards. The flip top does not match the original dresser top because we didn't have a stain to match it. We may eventually replace the original top to match the flip top. We tried to keep this project inexpensive. Obviously we had the tools and some supplies already but the things that we needed to purchase specifically for this piece only cost $100. That cost went to my brother since this was going to be his when finished. $100 for a kitchen island is not bad at all.

Purchased this at a thrift store for $10. I paid too much for it...It was water damaged badly and someone tried painting it with grey chalk paint. I had a feeling about it though and I'm glad I purchased it. I was really excited to see all that beautiful wood hiding under the horrible chalk paint. We play Cornhole under them. This is only a small portion of our yard. If we want to play other games we can go outside the fence line.

Cool idea but top doesn't match at all and that storage underneath is so small and u lose all the cabinet storage if u use the bottom storage. Very odd setup.

we put in pea gravel around our pond as a seating area, but it gets dragged out of the area since we have no edging and weird problem is some of my shoes the gravel gets stuck between the lugs and gets tracked in the house LOL

Regarding the tools etc needed to do this properly for a long term effect - can I rent the majority of the items needed to dig etc? Or are they items i should purchase and keep? What grade sandpaper you used
U wanna remove that sod down to hard flat ground..otherwise you end up using way more rock than had to. Now your low spots will collect dirt and grow weeds on top. Been there..screwed it up.
Personally I like the more natural look, especially in a backyard. Looks great! Hope it holding up for you.

Big ones are field stone and the small ones are pea gravel.

glad you said it was temporary, i took all my graas out so it last years before grass started growing in because of dirt and seed that birds drop..then the other thing that kill me was the dogs every time they would run through on it i had to go fix that. the outside cats using it for toilet., now I'm looking around for something permanent..

Yes. I talk about that in the 1 year update video. We cut small blocks of wood to put under each leg of our furniture and covered them with the stones.

I don't think we really saved anything. You can find kitchen carts for pretty cheap. This was more about creating something unique and working with our hands. This probably cost around $150-$200 for us to make.
