ƒ-5 6 What does it mean?
มุมมอง 2456 ปีที่แล้ว
I had a question about what ƒ-5.6 means on an 8x10 view camera vs. a full frame DSLR. However, let’s think about aperture as it relates to lens size, and not a particular camera. A 300mm lens will have the same size aperture at ƒ-5.6 on every format camera. And a small camera will be smaller because the distance between the back of the lens and the image plane is closer, and that distance defin...

    great video. thank you. I have been shooting on a C22 for two decades and I LOVE it. my C22 recently broke on a shoot where even though I turned the knob, the film did not advance (if you know anyone that could repair this). I just bought a "new" one with a 80 mm lens my other one is 105 mm). I noticed on the right side of the new C22 an option between sheet film/multiple exp and roll film. my previous model did not have this. I assume this does not allow the film to advance. my question is, is it possible that my older model has this option somewhere and I have inadvertently turned it on? I don't see the option but wanted to ask. (note, when loading film, it loads fine. it is just when exposing that the roll film does not advance). thanks.

      @paulubl4380 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Brian, I am currently not set up to make a dreadnought… Would you consider a jumbo? Also, would you consider a jumbo made with Birdseye maple? I have one on my website now, and the only reason I still have it is because I said it aside for a young man who couldn’t afford it, but he had to go with him a more economical factory instrument. Here’s the link to the maple guitar: www.northwoodsluthiers.com/steel-string/p/sitka-spruce-birdseye-maple-jumbo I also have a guitar with an amazing sound board made from a single piece of Alaskan yellow cedar with back and sides made of black limbs. Here’s the link to that guitar: www.northwoodsluthiers.com/steel-string/p/alaskan-yellow-cedarblack-limba-jumbo

    • @paulubl4380
      @paulubl4380 ปีที่แล้ว

      I do have some birch that could be made into a jumbo, but I guarantee that the soundboard would need to be Spruce. The birch soundboard would not work out. Well… On the other hand, I am currently putting together a unique all walnut guitar that has a walnut soundboard. It has a classical guitar body but a 14th fret connection just like an OM. It isn’t quite done and can’t go to our current show, but will be done in about two weeks. If you have any interest at all, let me know and I will send you more information. Thanks!

  • @arcanics1971
    @arcanics1971 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I've just bought the older sibling of these, the C3. What a wonderful bit of engineering! My film hasn't arrived yet, so I thought I'd just make sure I know the loading system. It's exactly as I suspected, but it's always good to check. The camera is almost the same but for some small differences: a different crank, no automatic cocking (so no shutter lock above the thumb release), and no front release button. But otherwise, they are almost identical.

    • @arcanics1971
      @arcanics1971 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Also, unlike the C33 and later, the C3 doesn't have an interchangeable focus screen. But fortunately the one that it comes with is very bright and useable.

    Thank you Paul. Great to have a reliable source of information. Even if we 'think' we remember how to do it....always best to check with a reliable source! Sincere thanks. [Edit....The F4 is magnificent. But that did not prevent me making rudimentary mistakes. I omitted to use the Program setting until half way through the film....got the iso setting wrong for good measure....and also forgot to lock the aperture ring after setting to Program. Accordingly, my first ever (SLR) roll of Kodak 400 iso (24 frame) color film is almost guaranteed to have been a dog's breakfast (not yet developed). Moving on now to fancy pants Ektar 100 color negative....I mean....what can possibly go wrong?]

  • @bronsenlasala4758
    @bronsenlasala4758 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Maybe you know, but when you load film into the F4 it normally advances to 1. However my F4 is not resetting the frame counter inside of the viewfinder (Currently it reads 150 and counting as I take pictures) and the camera does not advance to 1 when I load film. However when I take photos the frame counter in view finder goes up by 1 and the one near the mode selector also goes up by 1.

    this is also known as the "K" back, as opposed to the others, which have a 'standard' lever winder, like 35 mm slr's do, but also have this winding lock below the winder, and these levers are on the right side, the K's have the knob on the left!- also the STANDARD backs have a std counter set/reset process, aka with back door operation, the K back must be synchronised to the film by the method you describe here, as NO auto reset is installed on this back

What I love about the twin lens reflex cameras is that they are simple and complete as a single package… And usually they have very sharp lenses. However, except for the Mamiya TLR's and the different lenses you can use there is not much of a system to most twin lens cameras.
