Hi, I am a UK-based budgerigar breeder. I have been in a budgie breeding hobby since 1995. On this channel, I share my show budgie breeding experience with you guys. I also talk about budgerigar mutation and visual improvement, I try to bring in my Budgie stud. I also discuss budgie food and their diseases. Every year I plan visits to other UK and European-based breeders, and film their bird rooms and share them with you on this channel. Such nice birds! I'm wondering how often you have to change the bedding in a flight like this with this many young birds.
@@donnadavis8917 thanks you!. There are 3 trays in each flight. I clean two side ones(under the perches ones) weekly and the middle one with food containers one every 2-3 days depending if softfood has been served or not.
@Budgerigar Thanks for your response. What is the bedding you use? When you change the bedding, do you do only one tray at a time and rotate so you don't change both sides trays at once? I ask because I'm wondering what you do with all the birds that all seem to like hanging out on or near the bottom. Also, that lovely yellow hen that was playing with your fingers is obviously very accustomed to your hands. Do you handle your babies as they grow up to ensure they are tame and calm if you show them? Thank you for sharing. I've had American budgies as pets for most of my life and am just getting into keeping and breeding English budgies and possibly showing them in America.

The lacewing is a sex-linked variety. This hen has opaline variation too which is also sex-linked variety. The best pairing (you're maybe not going to like) is a normal. The chicks that are cocks will be split lacewing and the chicks that are hens will be pure normal hens. The worst genetic pairing is that Recessive Pied cock. Worst because you will lose control over what you produce in your pairings. With quality birds like these, controlled results are everything. What I do when I see the parents getting aggressive with the babies I have a cage that I put 2 older birds in and put the babies in there and the older ones will feed them and they learn how to eat by them selfs and I have great results

Impressive. But unhealthy, rough birds, that can hardly fly and do not stand on their feet. They should be like racing horses: proud, slim and very good condition.
These budgies are not stylish, but nervous, unhealthy, lump, no strong legs and body. They hang on the stick, ss if they are sick.

Yes they do. An if you get your birds a couple days ago It won’t breed until 3-4 months after. I had that experience I purchased my birds an I wanted them to breed asap But as far as I know they won’t breed until you have them for like about 3-4 months.
@feyadmohamed238 Thanks. I don't know too much about breeding English Budgies. American budgies breed like crazy. However, even English are not very "modest" once they get going. How long after you put an English male and female together in a breeding cage with a box can you expect mating to start? I hear it's pretty quick and if nothing happens after a couple weeks you should try another pair. What do you think?
@@donnadavis8917 so I got my pair an I was excited for it to breed but however it did take about 3-4 months before they start breeding, NOTE I never swap the male with another female. I allow both of them to have their privacy and about 3-4 months after they start mating.

It’s like the same as humans You can’t marry today an have a baby tomorrow. If you understand my point. 🤗😊 So yes they do take a time. 😊
Having been a budgie breeder in the far past and a geneticist later. These birds should fly outside. And also if one breeds them, select for strength. Meaning they should be able to fly far and really stand on their feet. That makes them healthy, enjoy life and still be very beautiful.
