Posting this video was a big deal for me. It's the first new remater with some sound. It's tricky synching the seperatly recorded sound and video without actual dialog to go by, but I think the synch is pretty good. Plus I think it has some awesome scenes!

At 1:44 is that JoJo Keller (39) pulling wheelie n whip dropping into gravity cavity sure looks him!!! Awesome style!!! NESC!!!
Thank you Lyndon - amazing job of capturing the action and history of the sport of mx - it brought me back..
Unadilla is now a rutted-out, over-manicured and boring track compared to what it was in the 70's.
Lots of great footage of a seldom recorded and photographed section of the track. The part just out of Screw-you, there is a right hand turn then a straight with a dip in in it, then down into a left handed 180 degree hairpin off camber and up past the finish line. It was on this straight out of Screw-you where RD and Hannah tangled at the 1978 Trans-USA race and Hannah bailed off because he thought they were both going down. I was at the bottom of the hairpin and saw Hannah flying through the air….
Great video, Thanks
Monte McCoy 👊🏻
Monte McCoy was the man back then. RIP 👊🏻
I wish they still raced on tracks like this. Today's outdoor tracks are an over-manicured mess, even Puyallup and especially Unadilla.
OMG, I was there. Brings back many great memories. Thanks for posting 👊🏻👍🏻
Awesome 👊🏻
Some good footage here, I grew up with motocross in the '70's, alot of my heroes in this, thanks
Kent Howerton was the man in 1980 and 1981
Jfk stadium where they had Live aid 5 years later
Awesome... pushing it to the limit! Nothing like riding a screaming 2 stroke DB...dang this is the best vintage racing video! Thanks for sharing this!!
bummer no sound.
Man, I can't thank you enough for posting this. It was my first Pro MX Race as a spectator. Fun story, as I was walking into the track before practice, DeCoster was walking towards the porta potty, I asked for his autograph, he said to wait until after the race. Also some dude on a Maico during practice was doing massive wheelies, his name was Doug Domokos! LOL
Wow, Howerton was the dominate rider in the US at that time, with Hannah down. Jobe reeled him in and passed him on that gnarly track with just about perfect looking conditions, no dust etc. Makes Lackey's achievement against Jobe on the 500's in 82 that much more amazing!
Back when Unadilla was a REAL motocross track! They sure did manage to turn it into an outdoor SX on steroids = Dislike.
Love it ! Thank you, Lyndon !!!
Echoing what others have said here...awesome job brother ! Thank you !
Those are 250's - white numberplate backgrounds
Was that a Montesa that won the first race?
1982
My 1st race there was the '79 Trans USA in early October. The dirt was moist like this, and the foliage looked the same. I was hooked immediately and went almost every year through 2015
@@tpm3092 that’s very neat. We lived in Las Vegas but averaged 4 trips a year to cross the mighty Mojave desert and take in the 4 major races staged each year in cool and delightful Southern California. It started in the spring at saddleback park where a dual 125/250cc national mx lit the candle on the racing season. Next it was summer and the FIM 500cc USGP ran at Carlsbad, a month or so later the Super Bowl of mx went down at the Los Angeles coliseum and the last race of the year we traveled away for was the ama fall trans am again at saddleback park it was fantastic. Great time to be an mx fan and for my $ the best era for moto cross in its nearly 100 year long existence. It never got tired..
nobody was fat back then.
Damn!!! That was less than 5 miles from where I grew up!!! That would have been awesome to have been there!!! My brother and cousin rode their bicycles over and tried to ride the track, they said the hills were way too steep. I think I figured out where the track was by comparing terrain on Google Earth. There is an animal boarding place now, if I am rigbt.
It's really cool seeing those rough looking works bike. Paint off the frame, scratches. Really been ridden. Modern teams have bikes that are new all the time. These look like rough diamonds - not shiny - but still diamonds.
How beautiful is this to see! Great camera work! ❤
Im happy i found this video. It's the only one I can find of the 77 car that I bought, and starting to restore to race it again
Great footage, I remember it well.
@@tedulmer7880 you were at that race..lucky…
Awesome video, I was at that race!!!!
Is 31 LaPort on an air cooled YZ (the year he was W.C.)? Over here in the UK/Europe the '82 production bike was water cooled!
@richardjones3684..good recollection and thanks for pointing out the famed riders included in this content. We got to see John banks race at the ‘73 FIM 500cc USGP at carlsbad CA. He was on a Cheney bsa and rode a fantastic race carding 3-4 and capturing 3rd o/a. He bulldogged that thumper around the rock hard carlsbad circuit much to the delight of the old-school thumper fans in attendance, my dad included. Only eight contestants finished both motos, tough race.
Pursang, Cappra, Phantom......old catalan bikes forever ❤👍🏼
Definitely 77. They put those weird trials wall jumps in.
Found myself 421 125 Am and my buddy 57w! Both of us on RM's. I was 15 he was 17.
Were any HD 250's in this race?
Love watching Rick Burgett hammer those corners.
Awesome stuff my friend! Thanks for sharing.🙂
Moto cross at its best rough and ready the best era 👌
У меня досих пор есть cz 250/513🔥🔥🔥в отличном боевом состоянии👍
Honda freight train.
Lawrence is an innovator staying on the pegs through turns....lol..... Great footage!!!
That was great! There were some big names there in that race. What a remarkable era.
I was there
Air cooling , twin shocks, and drum brakes, and it still looks fast !
I still have my tee shirt from those races...the winter am was great
Great footage This was my era of racing I had the pleasure of flagging both the trans am and the 250 nations at PIR Phoenix international raceway with all our favorite riders but who number 16 who ran second most of this moto Was it Rich Eierstadt ? Thx again takes me back
Nice track, natural terrain with motorcycle created whoops, berms, etc. Self-done forward mounted and laydown rear shocks. Exotic European bikes. I miss those days.
