Ohhh. Aluminum frames, after finished making at the factory (welds, and all), are then heat treated for toughness. By welding them, or heating up an area, you will lose the heat treating properties in that area, making it softer. Depending on where it is at, (high stress or not), there could be a breakage problem in use. The frame can be heat treated again after welding (for example), but they probably use special fixtures to hold the frames shape.

Those rotary scotch bright pads are also great for cleaning off gasket surfaces, (I use medium grit). But first, you must scrape off all the gasket thickness, so you can clean the surface with one or 2 swipes and not deform the surface.

You don't do "quick and dirty" vapor blasting based on principal. I love to hear that. The principle is,----------- "A job worth doing, is worth doing well.". I studied manufacturing engineering in y self paid college, which is a guy who has seen a lot of processes. But this is the first time I have seen vapor blasting. I thought it was a sand blasting cabinet at first, which can also be used with a huge choice of media to use, but vapor blasting probably leaves no media to clean off the parts. I would guess for aluminum, sand blasters may try walnut shells, (you buy it crushed for sand blasters), as it is not very aggressive. Doug in Michigan

Powder coating is nice. But you really don't want it under the heads of bolts either. It compresses, and bolts can come lose.

The correct size "spanner wrench" works pretty good too. Nice looking tool though. :)

It’s so cool seeing these resto jobs lately. It’s been getting harder and harder to find a lot of parts for these older two strokes. Taking care of what we have is so much more important now compared to 05 or even 2010 when nearly every part was still available.

The passion that goes into these bikes is what I’m going to be striving for, it’s damn near close to perfection, amazing job guys, I’ve never been into the 2 strokes just because I race and the 4 stroke is the way to go as far as that concerned BUT the 2Ts are sick and they will never stop being cool fun and exhilarating I hope to see some 4 T content in the future because the attention to detail is second to none it really highlights the love you guys have for what you do, it’s not just a paycheck and that is something to get behind. Just wanted to say, I just found you guys and I’m getting SUPER into bikes lately, before I found you guys I just bought a 24 YZ 450 I just started racing last season and I’m doing well it’s in my blood, I’ve had some downtime and I’ve been watching videos and doing research as much as I can. Recently I found out I’m going to be getting a little bit of money, I’m only 23 and I’ve realized I like working on bike lbs just as much as riding them.. almost hahah , But I have a dream. I am going to be buying a 36ft box truck and turning it into a complete mobile repair performance shop, equipped with the whole 9. So if someone wants thier bike overhauled and rebuilt I can do that and also swap peoples tires at the track, I’ll be at the ameture races next season so I figure I’ll be in the perfect place where my services will be needed, and I’ll be mobile so I can go on service calls, it’s a dream rn but I’m going to make it a reality soon, I have to determination and drive. I whatched your video and you explicitly expressed not to worry about what anyone thinks and I really needed that because with my age it will be hard there will be a lot of naysayers but it will happen. Yes, you can measure from a point on the swing arm to that point on the Works Connection adjuster, but you still don't know if both of those points on the swing arm you are measuring from (one on each side), are the same distance from the swing arm pivot center. The hash marks maybe just as repeatable.

All the builds with so much attention to detail and cosmetics is second to nothing, totally off the hook and then to see some of them in magazine articles etc is incredible 😃 I learn something from each video and Charles and Uncle Tony make it interesting and fun - as far as a name be a Honda I would call it the " red-devil " thank you for the information on these videos
