It’s a con. A comic book is the actual product, the original art is more valuable of course. With movies you have the 35mm print and the original posters as the actual product, a vhs is a piece of merchandise and not the real item. A few will of course have some value but this is a millennium fad that will die an early death as vhs sealed in plastic is a mediocre side product.

Great video, very informative. I have a question though. Which I hope maybe you can provide some feedback on. So for me, I have a Big Trouble in Little China unopened VHS from 87, which is the year the VHS copy was released. However, I do know it is a later release, because it does have a sticker seal at the bottom and it has the Fox Studio water marks, not the CBS/Fox Watermark. However, all of the copyright dates are correct on the box, it’s pretty much an exact copy of the first print of the 87 run. Also still says Fox/Cbs all over the box where it should. So my question is that did they just have extra boxes and use them up around 1990, or did they even start using the Fox Studio watermarks even earlier than 1990? I would appreciate your opinion on this.

I have CBS FOX VHSes of Red Sonja, Quest for Fire, Rollerball, Aliens, and Fantastic Voyage. Fantastic Voyage is one of those "full cover" ones from 1990. I also have a CBS FOX Betamax tape of The Clan of the Cave Bear. None of my tapes are sealed though.

Super Mario World was my first ever video game. I had a tough childhood but the delight it brought to me. Im 35 now and doing well in life this really warms my heart. I would gladly put that in my office! Is there a way to find out how much a graded video game is worth on paper? and what could be a good way to sell these as an investor?

This stuff will be worthless before we know it... i love retro video games... and even though i think the physical copies are cool... id rather have my 50000 game raspberry pi hooked up to my big screen than all these physical games... i just cant imagine having them and not playing them... 😮

Way back in the mid 1970's I went to an art supply store near L.A. City College with a couple of friends. There were several big bins full of old movie posters, with at least a couple of hundred. I saw no value in owning them and it never occurred to me that I could just use them for wall art. I still kick myself today for my ignorance.

Also folks just remeber Karl lives in Australia. He DOES NOT have the free speech protections we do and is very likely very very careful about his claims.

VHS tapes must not stay selad . They must be watched so often that after a while you can not understand what is going on.

Great video. All collectors should watch it at least once. Lots of take aways. Game collecting is a passion we have and we all should focus on the bright side of it.

I remember at the end of the WWF Coliseum videos they would show the next 3 coliseum tapes that were coming out. I remember one showed a Junkyard Dog tape and another showed Royal Rumble 88. Of course, these two tapes were never made. I wonder why not?? Do you happen to know??

I’m surprised that Nintendo Power grading isn’t more popular right now. I think these are going to go up in value. I decided to get my EarthBound players guide graded. I’m going to get ahead of the game and start grading Nintendo Powers while it’s cheaper to get these.

I love this! I have 2/3 of those still. there’s something about collecting the tapes with the actual cover and box. I’ve consolidated a lot of my things, but I’ll never get rid of the Colosseum home video collection. Way too much nostalgia looking through them.

Who the hell in their right mind would want buy, let alone collect anything thats in a wata case. The games alone graded from wata are inflated ridiculously high and are not worth what the sellers ask for. Any time anything is in a wata case you can find the exact same thing in better condition for thousands of dollars less ungraded

Mad Dog is a bigger man than anyone gave him credit for. I have no idea where the vile hatred here comes from especially after watching this video. He's not a bad guy in this story. And I think he has an interesting perspective on collecting and videogames, and I look forward to more.

Just a quick ?. I have copies of NP magazines that when you got a certain Power Card won a game. Won't say how I got them but this is going back to the early/mid/late 90's. Sealed since then and only opened once to find the winning card. Was about a 1 in 4500 chance if I remember correct. I labelled all of them and would have to go and get the Issue #'s. If you could do a vid on that it would be greatly appreciated. Also have Issues 1-4 CGC graded (working on 5-20) and have copies of # 5-118 fresh of the press. With wraps, pollybaged, inserts, and so on. They called me crazy at the time and I called it retierment :)
