    • @Rich_Runs_Cars
      @Rich_Runs_Cars 20 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I believe they're usually painted in NATO green BS285, but best to check that! I bought some cheap NATO green to spray my van and it was rubbish quality and colour match. So I went to a motor paint shop recently for paint to touch up my Wolf and to spray my ex-military Series III, so they could match the colour.

    The issue with your dynamic seats and intermittent locking and unlocking doors has to do with a small pump system that can be accessed by the trunk...towards the driver's back seat in America. It has a manifold with many small plastic hoese coming from it which control the dynamic seeats and door locks. Sometimes the pump burns out because there is a leak in the system but, yours seems to still be working. Even so, there may be a slow leak in the seats section and/or doors. There should be lots of information online. Diagnosising where the leaks are is time consuming and can get expensive to fix. Good luck.

    • @Rich_Runs_Cars
      @Rich_Runs_Cars 23 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Thanks very much, very helpful. Is this the PSE pump? I was looking into this. From what I can gather it's also responsible for the locking/unlocking of the doors on the central locking system, is that right? If so, it made me think it isn't the PSE pump as the door locking function still works perfectly from the dash button. Or is it possible this could still work when other PSE-controlled functions don't? Thanks again 👍

      @@Rich_Runs_Cars There are many hose coming from the pump. Each hose goes to each mechanism (door, seats, etc.). In the doors, it reaches a mechanism that has a bladder of sorts. If the hoses aren't leaking but the bladder is, which is often the case, it could cause the doors from locking and unlocking properly. In the case of the dynamic seats, it too goes into a bladder of sorts. So, if the hoses are not leaking then the seat bladder may be causing the issue. Diagnosing it can take time and money for parts and installation. It also controls your trunk in a similar way.

    • @Rich_Runs_Cars
      @Rich_Runs_Cars หลายเดือนก่อน

      You could be right, but he is well know in the Mercedes/AMG community - and he was honest with me that he didn't want to touch the ABC pipework! He was referencing a similar S600 where I believe he did a full engine rebuild, and I think was suggesting that's the only way of being 100% confident of sorting any engine issues/oil leaks. To be honest, I didn't really discuss this much with him, as I was still reeling from the other costs, and I can't see myself spending £6k just on the engine...

I’ve found when re-fitting the tunnel or matting back, taking the handbrake lever off completely or just unbolting it (but leaving it connected) and moving it over while refitting helps immensely. The 5 speed automatic transmission that Mercedes-Benz used it a masterpiece, with a V8 or V12 you dont need more gears than 4 or 5 the motor has enough torque to move this full size sedan around. And the 5 speed automatic transmission is really reliable compared to the transmission that replaced it. I have never understood why a normal vehicle need more gears in a automatic transmission than 4 or 5, it is just something that will break and be expensive to repair...

      Yeah I love the M157, great engine.... I know many prefer the M156, but I generally prefer forced induction in bigger cars.... S65 is epic though! 🙂

      Hi there. It's running a 2.0 litre Ford Zetec blacktop with individual throttle bodies, Kent 285 cams, a wider bore exhaust manifold and silencer and a remap to around 195bhp. It has a Ford viscous LSD, adjustable Gaz suspension, MT75 gearbox.

    My opinion to whoever decides to buy S350,500,600 W221 from now onwards. No matter how cheaply or well you purchase W221 be prepared and happy to treat it as a yacht. Typical works that pops your way (but not limited to) are: Air struts air suspension changes, changing box that is attached to transmission changing gears, intage manifold change, parking break. You need to be rich enough not for purchase of the car but rich enough to spend during ownership while still enjoying it. Then happy S Class driving days.

    W221 is arguably in my opinion last S class that has greatness in it. Some would say W222 but 222 starts having elements of saying good bye to boomers/Xgeneration and transitioning to younger that likes swipe sreens and lights and electronics. I have no idea what I am going to do once my W221 2012 model comes to the end. I highly dislike new cars where you feel like entering shop selling TV's where static energy just . . . you feel it.

    That doesn't look like a proper Wolf bonnet. Where is the spare wheel carrier fitting on it? I know you shouldn't carry a Wolf spare on it due to the weight but it just doesn't 't look right, too 'clean'. Also missing the strop fixing at the front.

      There should be a large oval shape plate which holds the pickaxe in place, tightened down with the wingnut.

      Yes, I know, it's a slightly odd one. I wondered when I bought it, but there are some oddities amongst the military defenders I've seen. I realise they usually have the wheel fixings - slightly odd it had the drilled holes for the pioneer kit fixings and not that.

      I also don't recall seeing a 110 Wolf with a rear mounted wheel like mine (even though it has the side mounting plate).

      Mantec swing away rear wheel carriers are legit on Wolfs. Seen many with them.

    Nice Landy... Note: all Series Landies had sliding windows, not only military, ok 😂. Like the steering wheel, that is totally military, like the 101... Good luck, I think it ended up at a good home... 🇿🇦

      Yes they usually are! I've just bought these so have yet to paint them.... They're old used tools so the paint on the shovel is pretty much gone.

    There is a switch on the transfer case near the diff lock selector. Pays to check that as well.

      You beat me to it, I had just had exactly that issue, replaced the light switch and the light worked again. Made the comment before watching your excellent video to the end.
