I learned much of what you showed. Bike on its side with drain plug down. You may not quite get a full 60cc out. To help reach that amount, best to do in summer when gearbox temp is high. Rest bike on its side for 30 minutes with syringe in place. After oil has settled to one side then start sucking it out. Double check. To fill I turn bike to other side with drain plug facing up. Once oil is in it does need to burp due to air in the box. I too have the aluminum version. Changing oil is a small price to pay. I use Phil Wood grease for the tiny planetary gears under the cap. Good idea to clean out old grease first.

What is the white stuff you use in the end? Why do you use it? Is there no need to use fat for the screws?

Thanks for the video. I purchased the Priority 600 with the C1.12 gearbox back in August 2023. It was pretty quiet (almost silent). But suddenly within the space of just one ride, the grinding noise has increased significantly. This is especially in the upper gear ranges 9-12. Did you experience this as well?

Next time start with the syringe half full of air. Connect it. Push the air in to the gearbox to pressurise it, then suck out some oil. Do the opposite for filling it up. Force some oil in and then suck some air out and repeat til the syringe is empty.

Audio feedback is a good thing, IMO. You'll know: (1) how hard the motor is working; (2) when the motor cuts off; (3) when the gearbox is taking a beating; and (4) when the gearbox is buggered... then for therefore adjust accordingly. Quite similar to driving a car with manual transmission and a bike with a derailleur.

Ya know maintenance is much easier when you follow the correct procedure, in this case, you're trying to vacuum the gear oil out through the fill hole. Why?

I am really interested in this gearbox but if that is how dirty after only 2000km, well that seems like a lot of wear. Plus it would seem to me that they could have made the change process a little less messy and awkward.

Everything sounds loud on this move... Is there any data sheet from manufacturer stating the noise levels? And from my experience with GB's I would reduce backlash, improve gears MTE values, and find a way to damp the amplitude / change frequency of this system

How fast can you pedal until the highest gear gives out?

I like how the higher the gear you go, the louder it gets.

There's a hole at the bottom of the gearbox to drain the oil. You can't get the oil out using the hole on the side. Watch Pinion's oil change video!

I have an Shimano Alfine 11 speed rear hub gear box and the Gates carbon belt drive and it runs silently. I didn’t know the Pinion gearbox was so grinding.

Personally i dont care about the sound. Its not like it sounds like a dirtbije or something. The sound is a small price to pay for an automatic gearbox motor combo with 130nm on an enduro EMTB!!! Gimme it now!!

I have the Priority 600X Pinion and I thought long and hard about a titanium frame. I just couldn't justify the price difference. That shifter squeak though would drive me up a wall! There must be some solution for that very annoying sound with every shift. Perhaps a Teflon shim between the rub points? Thankfully, my 600X makes nowhere near that amount or volume of noise while shifting! Pinion has made a believer out of me.

I don't know how I feal about this Alu-housing on a Titanium frame It is a nice bike with amazing transmisson but there is a significant risk of corrosion is on the gear housing side even though they have coating on...personally I might put some masking glue as interface... the biggest concern I have is the screws I dont know if a stainless steel (2205 or some super-alloy grade to have enough strength/ductile to serve on bike but has lower pitting potential to protect Alu-housing from being eaten up) would be enough to serve as proper interface to prevent Alu housing corrosion

Looks similar oil colour to an Alfine 11 first change. Cannot comment on the Rohloff as it is over 13 years ago since I did the first oil change lol.

Why not as a explosion engine a drain hole at the bottom and a filling hole on top?
