Video of my new Cannondale Topstone Lefty 1 and initial setup
Turn your phone. Christ.
Thanks for this video. Kohler sent me this replacement part and no instructions on how to install.
So helpful! Just wish I found the video before I started trying to unscrew that decorative screw on the faucet handle 😂 but my hot water is flowing perfectly now, thank you so much! By the way, my debris was coming from the hot water valve below the sink, which I replaced the stem on.
This video is tolerable if you watch at 2x speed.
Love to see more vids on the SS for maintenance. :)
Fantastic. I am about to change the original battery that came in my '16. It is not having isses but I feel it is just too old now to go and take a chance far from the house. The video was very helpful, I am going to follow your method.
Thanks for the excellent video. For anyone who can't clear the blockage with compressed air (me!) I have a solution, but not everyone with have the piece needed. Take a piece of aluminum TIG filler rod, chuck it in a drill and use it like 'Roto-Rooter'. First, push the rod in the side that works, (Hot or Cold) and a 36" rod almost disappears. Then, do the same thing with the block side. You can find the place and if you can't force it out, your can 'drill' it with the welding wire.
This was so helpful BUT I went to hardware store to buy a 27mm socket wrench and it’s too small!! 😩 I guess you need a large wrench size for that size socket thingy.
Thank you for this video. After I damaged the fake screw trying to remove it I was about to damage the sleeve and found your video and easily popped it off and was then able to replace the cartridge.
Totally found this video after damaging the fake screw too. Lol
I had exactly the same issue (same model Kohler faucet); my hot water side was clogged. Your excellent video gave me an idea. I disconnected the hot water hose from the source, hooked up a wet-vac to the end of the hose (airtight using a combination of PVC step-down piping and duct tape), set the faucet 's hot-water lever to open and turned on the wet-VAC. Out came a piece of rubber from the hose. Problem fixed--all without having to disassemble the faucet from the countertop or disassemble the valve as shown in the video. I think Kohler needs to inspect their quality assurance of the hose manufacturing (probably made in china). I would not have thought of using this method had I not seen your video. Thanks again.
Unfortunately I bought one of these before reading reviews... does anyone else's water flow sputter everywhere out of the sprayhead?? I'm on my 2nd one, same issue . Waiting for response from Kohler currently very frustrated
A life saver. I should have watched your video before trying to remove that decorative screw! My line was clogged as well with a chunk of rubber from the hot intake hose.
Please pin my comment, I have the same sink. It’s not the valve!! Easy easy fix! After 3 tries I figured it out. Keep your sink installed no need to take it apart at all. Unhook your hot water line (after shutting off water obviously) then put the hose into a bucket and turn the sink handle to the middle position and allow water to run, you will start seeing water come out through the faucet as normal, put your thumb over the sink faucet closing off the water and increasing back pressure that will come out of the hot water line and into the bucket, this pressure is enough to force all those black pieces of plastic out. Do this for a minute or so. Hook it back up and enjoy your hot water. BOOM
This comment saved me. Just bought one of these today and had no hot water coming out. Blew out the hot water line and saw the black gunk come out. Hooked it back up and it worked perfectly. A huge thank you.
Thanks
Thanks for posting. I ran into the same issue after turning off the water to work on my dishwasher. I realized low pressure from the faucet afterwards. I pulled everything and checked(for hours) the mixing valve was my first thought but it was intact. I eventually I figured that the hose quick connection had pieces of rubber inside especially the two check valves. I flushed the line that seems to clear it for now but I know now that the culprit is the hot water valve from the wall. A quick tip for more flow remove the small o ring from the restrictor. Cheers.
Outstanding vid man. Very well done...thanks!!!
Is the handle meant to just come off at any time? I bought this and the handle comes off every time I turn it. Nothing is hold it in.
You are the real hero of TH-cam. I spent all day flushing and troubleshooting my tankless hot water heater before I realized this was my issue
I just had one installed as part of a kitchen Remodel . I am not going to do that when I spent $350 on a faucet. A replacement plus plumbers cost is what I want from Kohler !!!!’n
I've seen other videos on different models of faucets where it was black rubber things clogging up a faucet. I wonder where the plastic bits came from in your faucet.
These companies prey on those that can’t afford their high end products. It’s a disgrace. Fake screw to make it look solid…
JUNK
I have the same faucet but it has started to leak at the handle. I don’t know what to do.
I know it's been two years since this was posted but I had to comment as this video saved me a lot of time. I have this faucet and have been using it for about 6 months and the faucet handle was getting lose/wobbly. At first, I too tried to unscrew the handle and started to scratch it up and it wouldn't turn. Rather than break something, I decided it was time to go to my favorite place...TH-cam...and look for a video. Sure enough, this one popped up when I searched for my faucet. Wow. This was super helpful. While I didn't have to get as far into the faucet as the video, it showed me right at the beginning that the "screw" is fake and only a "button" covering the real screw. Who would have thought? Anyway, thanks so much for this video. Was a great help and I finally tightened my faucet handle without breaking anything in the process, which is always a good thing! LOL
Nice workshop carpet.
Thanks, that was very useful. 👍
I want to thank you for posting this video. I was so pissed at Kohler, when I should have been mad at the failing valve on the wall. I'm replacing the valves on the wall with 1/4 turn ball valve style and clearing the internal plug inside the faucet. It should be much easier thanks to your help. Also- 1 1/16 = 26.99 mm for people who do not have that big of sockets in metric.
Is your 3 pawls to star ratched much more louder? Thanks
We had this faucet model 5 years with no problems whatsoever. Then recently the water flow diminished to just a trickle. We contacted customer support and they sent us a new valve. This didn't fix the problem, and we verified the supply lines were not blocked. So we contacted Kohler again and they sent us a new unit. Wow, that's awesome support. We still don't know what the problem with the old unit was, but we're very happy with the new one!
I'm having that low water flow problem also!
Thanks for the video. Saved a lot of pain. I used a 1 1/8" deep socket to remove valve nut. Valve replacement was smooth. Body and hose had some debris. Cleaned hose with a coat hangar. With hose removed, I put a big cup over the body and just let the water run for about 30 seconds. Very messy, but effective. Faucet works .
I had debris lodged in the body of the faucet. I used these instructions to remove the handle and the valve and the attached a bicycle tire pump to the nozzle where the faucet head attaches and was able to blow out the debris. As annoying as this problem was, in Kohler's defense, they were willing to ship me out a whole new faucet.
Hi
Thanks for the video. I dissembled per your instructions, blew out the lines with my air compressor, problem still existed. I ordered the replacement cartridge, Kohler K-1198201 BTW, the correct size socket is 1-3/32". I had to look for a shower valve socket.
1-3/32” = 27.78mm. While both may get the nut off, I’d rather err on the socket that’s the smallest size (27mm)
ADiDaPhat,
does anyone know if this faucet has a flow restrictor in it?
Haha we all had the fake screw looking pop off cover .... go figure that one other than they sell you a new one after you've boggered up the fake plastic looking screw... still working on why my handle is leaking at the bottom..... the sage continues... now off the Higginbothum Brothers hdw for a 27 mm deep socket which of course I did not have!!!
Same thing happened to me this week. Installed the Soux about a month or two ago. Last night the hot water just went to almost nothing. Tired blowing through it with my mouth and it was like it was almost fully closed. I did your method with the compressor. At 60 psi, still clogged. Turned it up to 90 and a big piece of black hard rubber flies out. :/. I hope long term it’s ok…
Hmm not sure this is my issue. My pull out hose is leaking but there's no hole in the hose where the hose comes right out of the faucet base where the decorative spring starts
Thanks!! Great video! This help us replace our valve.
You have shown us a good view of the pre-welded clamp bar inside the (below roofline) gutter, which is normally covered by that fancy black plastic trim. I too have such a "Fixed Point" clamp factory welded in situ in three positions along the inside of the trenches on either side of the roof, which are "supposedly" of better value to people who want roof racks and other things carried above their vehicles, than long (full length of roof) load clamping bars to which we (who do want to position cross bars hither & thither) can retro-fit our cross bars wherever we want - be they forwards of center or towards the rear of the roof, differently of any fixed position (hidden) clamps give us now. Sadly one of the three FIXED (hidden below roofline) clamps - is directly opposite the rear roof mounted radio aerial - so guess what - either I figure out a far better way to fit above roof, raised rails and reposition the roof rack forwards or rearwards of wher THEY want me to fit things, or I don't have an aerial for the radio (not gonna happen). So now - I too have (not the same car - nor the same OEM of clamp either, but I too have the lovely job, of making an inverted question mark bolt with clampo attached, so that I can tighthen down a nut onto the clamp, after I slide it under the factory fitted pre-welded clamp mount, to hold say a modified THULE gutter mount leg onto the roof, using the under-roof gutter as the gutter for the thule clamp, and a modified "? shaped" bolt - inverted so that the bendy bit goes under the roof fitting, and I can tighten down a threaded nut onto the straight leg of that inverted ? mark bolt. All I have to figure out is this, do I use a lovely above roof line molding to tighten down that J (actually it's more like a slightly bent J bolt that an inverted ? bolt isn't it) .. To hold the Thule tall leg foot, onto the roof, using that pre-welded clamp... Be back sometime ion the future, hopefully with a small video of what I did, and not a "what went wrong" one.
Thank you for this great video. I had the same issues with my faucet and blowing out the hot water line with air fixed the problem👍🏼
Thank you! This was exactly the problem I had too…from trying to unscrew the non screw to needing to blow out the line with the air compressor!!!
Would these fit a g8
Sure, the Kohler Sous® "Pro-Style Single-Handle Pull-Down Sprayer Kitchen Faucet in Chrome" sold by Home Depot looks great but has several problems that are user-reported on Kohler's web page: www.us.kohler.com/us/sous-semiprofessional-kitchen-faucet/productDetail/kitchen-sink-faucets/1165183.htm?skuId=1165128&brandId=empty&fs=true& Home Depot sells two versions of this faucet, the "Pro-style" version (in four choices of finish) currently selling for $255.48-$347.55 and a second SKU model in Stainless Steel finish only that currently sells for $513.08. 1. The sprayer head (for all versions) is not metal, it is chromed plastic and is not user serviceable. It costs about $60 to replace when there is a problem such as the sprayer lever sticking or falling off. The spray lever is spring loaded and doesn't lock in the spray position and must be held continuously or it will return to normal stream mode when released. 2. A commonly reported problem (that I am currently waiting on Kohler to correct) is that after some time has passed the stream/spray pressure drops to a trickle. Some users have reported that the hose in the overhead spring swells internally and constricts the flow. Others have indicated that the plastic mixer valve under the handle fails and must be replaced. In my case, a call to Kohler customer support was answered after a reasonably short wait time and the representative took my information and promised to send out a replacement valve and sprayer head but indicated that due to limited availability they would not ship for at least 30 days. They emailed an order confirmation with a tracking number link to their website that gives an entry error message. Now that I am in the position of not having a working faucet in my kitchen and will have to wait a month before receiving parts that may fix the problem (or not) I am thinking that the $250+ was not a great investment.
I tried unscrewing that decorative cover too and was unsuccessful. Good job in figuring out that it was just a pop out cover.
Any idea what the source of the plastic was that caused the clog?
It's the rubber gasket inside the shut-off valves... When you replace them get the quarter turn valves instead.
Thanks for explaining how to take this apart. I was screwed by the non-screw cover. With your video, I was able to figure out my hook-up line was clogged.
Great, you should do videos for any YT canals like cycling weekly or something, you are great to speak and you skill is good too.. btw nice Cannondale 😉
Any idea if these crossbars will work on my 09 Pontiac G8?
Thank you for this video... yeah there’s not much about these multiclics. By the way, do you really need to cut a hole on your bartape? No way to wrap around it? Great video!
THANKS so much for your video. I have been in the same boat as you. Flat aero bar as well wondering if these will fit. It looks like the top part is rubber that can conform to any bar shape.
But would they fit with zip ties for would you need tape?
