You have shown us a good view of the pre-welded clamp bar inside the (below roofline) gutter, which is normally covered by that fancy black plastic trim.
I too have such a "Fixed Point" clamp factory welded in situ in three positions along the inside of the trenches on either side of the roof, which are "supposedly" of better value to people who want roof racks and other things carried above their vehicles, than long (full length of roof) load clamping bars to which we (who do want to position cross bars hither & thither) can retro-fit our cross bars wherever we want - be they forwards of center or towards the rear of the roof, differently of any fixed position (hidden) clamps give us now.
Sadly one of the three FIXED (hidden below roofline) clamps - is directly opposite the rear roof mounted radio aerial - so guess what - either I figure out a far better way to fit above roof, raised rails and reposition the roof rack forwards or rearwards of wher THEY want me to fit things, or I don't have an aerial for the radio (not gonna happen).
So now - I too have (not the same car - nor the same OEM of clamp either, but I too have the lovely job, of making an inverted question mark bolt with clampo attached, so that I can tighthen down a nut onto the clamp, after I slide it under the factory fitted pre-welded clamp mount, to hold say a modified THULE gutter mount leg onto the roof, using the under-roof gutter as the gutter for the thule clamp, and a modified "? shaped" bolt - inverted so that the bendy bit goes under the roof fitting, and I can tighten down a threaded nut onto the straight leg of that inverted ? mark bolt.
All I have to figure out is this, do I use a lovely above roof line molding to tighten down that J (actually it's more like a slightly bent J bolt that an inverted ? bolt isn't it) ..
To hold the Thule tall leg foot, onto the roof, using that pre-welded clamp...
Be back sometime ion the future, hopefully with a small video of what I did, and not a "what went wrong" one.

Ryan, I have an SS and it came with roof racks like yours. Any chance you could send a picture of the keys it came with? I am trying to get replacements.

Any idea if these crossbars will work on my 09 Pontiac G8?

A few more follow up things. The roof rack did come into contact with the 3m clear vinyl. So, I took a Dremel to the black pieces, and don’t expect any more contact. Clearance with my bike on the roof is 8.5 ft. I also haven’t noticed a decrease in gas mileage.
