One of my fave CT songs of all time. Thanks for posting! I have it on a Live Portsmouth Soundboard recording. As others have mentioned, it would be awesome if RG would give us an updated studio version sometime. Just to clear up any confusion, I personally asked RG in an old chatroom years ago if this song was a version of My Hue and Cry as people had suggested and he said it was NOT. He went on to say that it really was an instrumental song that they had put together and never named. He thought it was cool that we thought so highly of it.

When, Elizabeth had just started to begin working with Massive Attack on the "Mezzanine" album, she then received the disturbing news about Jeff Buckley's death on a motorcycle accident in the United States. She was crushed inside and she almost even considered leaving the project altogether; however, later on she decided to continue. Filled with grief she needing to vent her emotions and that's when Elizabeth wrote, "Teardrop" just for Jeff. In a recent interview, Elizabeth confesses her love for him and the songs dedication. All the Massive Attack band members, knew she was "in very delicate frame of mind" so, they did "not" interfere with her lyrics, altar, or enhanced her vocals. Those Massive Attack band members just knew, each song she was singing would be dripping with emotion and -- it did... !!! So much so, Massive Attack finally got their big-break onto the United States billboard recognition for "Teardrop", but every song is raw, intense, and purely emotive. There are still those people, who talk about Elizabeth's vocals as nonsensical gibberish and they shouldn't even call themselves fans at all, if they insist she's saying nothing. In a magazine article from the 80's, Elizabeth stated: " ... How is it, that people can be so stupid, regarding me? I remember my secrets, I write them down and the I sing it -- Now, there meaning, is only for me to keep, because they are private ... " In the third and fourth lines of "Carolyn Fingers", Elizabeth refers to this topic and she still remains emotionally sensitive, saying: "Some People Speak of Me, Tell Us -- It's Wrong to Make Fun of Me"
