We did that trip in the 70s with our Frances 26 double-ender. I hope you were able to get up to the north channel at some point. Beautiful sailing up there. We ended up heading down the Detroit river into Lake Erie and then through the Welland Canal to Lake Ontario and then we cut into the Erie Canal over to the Hudson River and headed south from there to Florida. but I always come back to loving Lake Michigan. It was nice coming across your video.⛵️

Great ideas, I would always have bilge plates or bilge keels which would greatly increase the options for grounding the boat for safety away from storms in sheltered shallow waters and also to reduce marina robbery! Fair sailing, SkipRay, “The Ark” project, Kerry, Ireland.

Great to see your update and hear about your plans. I look forward to more videos. For pocket cruising sailboats, you might consider Montgomery 15's, 17's, and 23's. They are very capable boats!

Bit of bittersweet on your last post 😇 was hoping to hear you say that you were now full time cruisers and on your way to the top of TH-cam ! All that said , we stumbled across your page and what a great little Gem! We are NW Ohio , starting our sailing adventures on Lake Erie this year .. hopefully lol ! We could not help but relate to you right away ! You two are so real and relatable to our personalities 😊 an absolutely enjoyed every “episode” . We know your plans for the future but if I could say , we would watch more videos of you two exploring the Great Lakes! Only thing you need is better audio 😅 , we will keep you on our subscribed list to see where you end up. Thanks for the videos

👍 just found your channel & watched several videos. Good to hear about your future plans. Sailing is great and it's enjoyable watching others having fun. I have a 26' trailer sailboat that I'm refitting on my own. This is my 4th. I have downsized from my last which was 58' sailboat that I lived aboard. I enjoy watching sailboats being refitted or built. Hope you post some new videos. Take care & cheers. S/V Cork~Texas🇺🇸⛵

We're pleased to hear from you again. We're fellow Great Lakes sailors planning to make our way south and east in our old rescue boat, but we keep running into setbacks. I'd love to see more during the build, so please do keep making videos at whatever pace is right for you and in eight and half years maybe we'll see you out there somewhere. Your vessel will certainly be distinctive! Best of luck.

I was happy to finally find out what happened to you guys. I'd been hoping to meet you in Fell's Point when I made it back to my schooner (the green one at the end of the dock at Henderson's Wharf. It looked like you went past it a couple of times in your dingy rides.) but my old back injury and other health problems caught up to me and kept me from getting down to the schooner for many months. I like your videos and hope you don't stop making them. Don't let the chum-bucketeers bother you. They're just trolls that post comments much in the way that some people talk just so they can hear themselves speak. The fact is, you made a great travelogue of a VERY interesting voyage making your way from Wisconsin to Baltimore on a half-century old small plastic boat. I was really hoping that you'd find great jobs down there and decide to stay a couple of years at least. I'm glad things worked out for you guys in your "restart," and I'm quite interested in watching your trailer-sailor/camping videos and -- of course -- videos showing the building of your big, new boat! Thanks for updating us.

So good to see you two again! I thoroughly enjoyed watching you sail from Wisconsin to the East Coast. I was saddened when you disappeared but I get that life sometimes gets in the way of life! I look forward to seeing updates of the new build and whatever else y'all get into. I live in Escanaba so not too far from Oshkosh (my daughter is moving to Sun Prairie when she graduates from BDNCC with her associates in automotive technology and a couple welding certificates). I retire this year and in January I purchased a 1986 Com-Pac 27 that I am currently refitting with plans to sail her around locally this summer to get to know her on the water and by the end of summer 2025 depart on the Great Loop and cruise till I can't cruise anymore (or till life gets in the way of life don't cha know). Anyway welcome back and yes, please do make some more videos of your progress and exploits (and just ignore the haters ... haters gonna hate). I get the disdain of making videos. I'm an independent recording artist and I really dislike making videos when I have to do so. I love recording my music but the video stuff is rather leave to professionals, which isn't in the budget, so I don't do them. Music's for listening to anyway. I look forward to your next installment so keep your chin up and your nose to the grindstone! Fair winds and following seas ... Al

"That mast was heavy, though..." You're damned right it's heavy. When I dropped my mast the first time she was 'on the hard' at Neshaminy Creek Marina in Bensalem, Pa. I put a line on the bottom end of the forestay, ran it through the anchor roller and back to the winch on the mast and started letting it go down. Once it hit that (not so) sweet spot of all the weight moving aft, it was a bit of a job slowing it down enough that it wouldn't crack the cabin top or bend the aft rail. Did I mention I was doing this alone in the dead of a rather cold winter with NO ONE ELSE in the boatyard? Anyway, I thought -- from some so-called "stats" I'd found online that the mast was 26 feet high and I'd 'stepped off' an electric power line rather close behind the boat and decided there was "probably enough" room. Well, I missed the power line. I don't know how, because I later learned the mast was 30 feet high AT THE CABIN TOP. Anyway, I didn't realize how 'heavy' the Centaur mast really was until I pulled it back up again prior to launch. I like the way you two did it SOOOOO much better!

Terrific municipal marina staff! We anchored in round lake between the main channel into Lake Charlevoix and the tiny kayak channel north of there that goes around the private wooded island. We were in maybe 5-6’ of water with a stern anchor set to prevent us swinging into traffic to the south of us.
