I think some of the answers will be revealed in due time. I'm really interested in those future game details. I think most of that will probably be cases like using the proper name of a city or character. Including a future character could be interesting too (like Juna and Towa in Crossbell). I hope they announce it for PlayStation and PC too. The console exclusivity could be something like Metaphor ReFantazio. In that case, most (if not all) of the promo material has the Xbox logo, but you know it's coming to other platforms. They will probably announce the other platforms in their December shareholder's meeting. That gameplay IS NOT running on Switch. I refuse to believe so. If it does, they have wizards working at Falcom 😂Like you said, that's probably Switch 2 or PC dev footage. I am also thinking about the Western Publisher thing. Could there be a scenario where Falcom asks NISA to work with the original script? I think they would love to get a simultaneous release for this game. They could probably check that everything in the English script is in the right place, maybe work on the new logos/signs/menu text, and handle the distribution over here. I think an English dub would be awesome for the game over here. I'll still be playing it in Japanese, but an English dub is essential if you want to reach a bigger audience. But all of that will depend on the Western publisher. I think Kondo also said in an interview that the SC and the 3rd remakes depend on the sales of this remake. I think he's probably saying that to not get everyone's hopes up (and because he can't confirm or deny anything right now), but I can bet they are going to make the whole trilogy either way. I don't think their plan was to remake FC and call it quits. They probably want to focus on this remake. Man, the "news" that Falcom didn't know the remake was going to be revealed there is so dumb. When I woke up at Midnight I saw the Trails in the Sky Remake Announced then I was like "Woah Sky Remake is real." I felt that and it's really awesome. Can't wait to see what Sky Remake is capable of.

The thing is, if it were XSEED localizing the remake, wouldn't it have made sense for the reveal to include mentioning them? While it may appear the same XSEED script is used in the dialogue for the preview pics, it's possible it's just a placeholder. Given The 1st is a straight up remake and not a remaster like Ys Memoire, maybe the same doesn't apply to XSEED having publishing rights for the former, especially when Falcom is practically in bed with NISA now.

I am positive the fanbase is worried over nothing. Sky the 1st is a Switch 2 launch title, the localization hasn't started yet and it was just announced. There is obviously not enough information yet, because there shouldn't be. Just wait and see what happens. Don't worry over it. Too many people are being dramatic over nothing.

Thought about the sky remakes earlier today and I swear we might at least get a PS version announcement at TGS, because TGS starts exactly on kais release date which Falcom probably wanted to get out of the way, expecting Nintendo to do their direct after TGS.

Didn't XSeed make the first 2 Cold Steel games? And they turned out fine.

Even with my dislike of Daybreak 2, Van easily takes the cake as one of my favorite protagonists, so I would love if you see or hear more about what he was doing behind the scenes in Liberl. It already kinda bugs me that they really talked him up as being super active in Erebonia but they never actually go over what he did during the war despite supposedly playing a huge part in bringing it to a close. But I guess you could just chalk that up to the early warning signs of the declining writing of his arc. Regardless, more Van is good. Especially if it includes more of his interactions with a certain little lady. Those were honestly the highlights of his games for me, I love their chemistry

Falcom finally self-publishing? Hell to the yeah. Some people would probably be disappointed by no dub but i'm original voice purist anyway so, yeah, wouldn't be a deal breaker for me. If it's not an switch exclusive and not published by Nisa or any of publishers that are on my no-buy list i'm 100% buying it when it's available. Hope it succeeds and SC and 3rd will get remakes too, who knows, maybe Crossbell duology will get the same treatment, and someday Ys V, let a man dream...no seriously, i genuinely hope they'll remake Ys V someday.

I think they will end up porting to other platforms eventually, but it makes a lot of sense to make Switch or Switch 2 the lead platform. There is no competition in Japan between switch and ps5. At the end of its life, the Switch is outselling PS5 on a weekly basis 5 to 1 when the PS5 is mid cycle

I wouldn't worry too much, as I do think it still will do really well for a multitude of reasons. Beautiful Visuals, being the first in the series, gameplay improvements to keep up with some modern standards but also faithful to what veterans like, not locked to PC only (heck even being on a Switch even for a while isn't too bad, especially in Japan where even by it's 8th year, it's still a Top-Dawg) and as you mentioned it has a cliff-hanger. A Japanese only dub wouldn't hurt too much, even tho i would still prefer to have dual audio with an English dub (heck the Atelier Ryza games don't have a dub and it's currently the highest selling Atelier and even brought a huge bank for the new Atelier Yumia), and I know majority of Yakuza/Like A Dragon fans always like to prefer playing the newer entries in Japanese, despite some of them having a dub. Sure whether Falcom self-publishes it, might be a bit wonky depending how much they handle with merch and CEs (I know NISA is abysmal with tracking, but they do work it out well), but if they are pulling for a WW release, then fine by me. I think Falcom not knowing, is mainly due they probably didn't know the direct was happening which is more plausible. I kinda laugh thinking that Sky the 1st would be outsourced, some people thought that Gust, the Atelier devs were making this, but LOL NO

It will definitely be on other platforms. They cant bring new players if it will be on switch only. Im worried for the english dub though. They didn't have it on Zero and Azure.

I would absolutely love connections to future games, tweaking of existing crafts, and more spotlight on some of the traveling companions. Daybreak turned Zin into a badass and a connection to the underground. Show us more of that side in sky. As long as we don't find out that this remake is part of some multiverse plot, then I'll be happy with whatever they do

That and I'm not even sure how many of the actors from the X Seed games version of FC to the 3rd are still alive or even retired BUT the ENGLISH dub of Hajimari didn't really keep the FC/SC/3rd actors for Estelle Tita Agate anyways.

I feel like SC would be pretty inexpensive to remake considering like 90% of the world map could be reused. And all of the returning characters could have their models reused (especially the ones that appared in like CS 3 and onwards). They have the script in both Japanese and English so their'd be minimal new translating/localization required. The main things that would take up development resources would be new music (if they decide to redo the soundtrack), animating the cutscnenes, modeling any new areas that weren't in the previous game. And recording for voice acting (if they decide to have both the English and JP version fully voiced). Sky The Third would be a similar story.

My only hope is that if theirs no English dub option, that theirs at least an option to change the subtitle size and color. Because quite honestly sometimes it’s really difficult to read the standard white subtitles. And for a game as text heavy as the trails series not being able to read some of the text means you’d miss out on a fair amount. Regardless I’ll still be buying a physical copy of this game as the sky trilogy is one I have not played yet❤

I never play these games in eng dub because the jp dub is usually leagues above. Maybe I it fits better due to it's anime style... that's how I feel at least. But I get the feeling that if you are already used to something (the voices of the characters in this case), it can be a pain to adapt and accept a different version of it. Well, I hope you guys get your dub but if not... welcome to the sub club haha

I just thought that was funny Also for the op I'm interested in what version of "Sora no Kiseki" they would use, one like the OG or one like the vocal version as they are 2 very different tones

hope it's not switch exclusive at least release it in pc. Kinda disappointed if they just doing the fc, i like sc more and tc also refreshing. i don't have any problem without english dub, the translation also so liberal in OG and not rare they change the way they talk, moreover i prefer their original personality. i heard people hate it when estelle translation start getting closer to her personality in sc/tc. I just hope this doesn't make the game action based combat, or at least let player choose.

How big is the scope of this game? If it isn't gigantic then they can focus more on graphical fidelity. Focusing one platform allows them to optimize for that. I do think PlayStation and PC versions are coming though. Also about the Direct, I think Kondo expected the Direct to be in September instead of August lol

Ah yes, the "We'll have to wait and see" video that the Sky remake is infamous for by now cause every video is saying that because it's true lol Man, each week that goes by and no English Dub is confirmed for this game still my anxiety grows lol It would be very crazy and head smashingly confusing if for a Remake there isn't one but we'll just have to...wait and see.

The original voice actors for this game don't really matter. There was almost zero voice acting in the original games. Edit: I'm talking about the English voices.

Most likely Sony didn't want to put out a bag for it. Plus it makes sense for Falcom to develop the game on Switch because it's dominating in Japan.

Potentially platform announcements at TGS, but I'm not gonna hold my breath too much. But yeah it wouldn't surprise me if this has been a side project for a number of people at falcom for a while (we know from Kondo that their employees wear many hats), and what we've seen so far is mostly all that exists. (It would make sense with as little info as they can give about VA and publisher.) Once Kai releases, then the game can enter full production-as we already have confirmation that Kyoto Xanadu will mostly be used for training fresher hires, as Tokyo Xanadu did the decade before.
