Never ever use prong collar on any living creature. Be nice to your animals and they will be nice to you. Form the strongest bond possible with your fur friends and train them with love and respect.

This is a very helpful, uplifting start of a basic, verbal only view of how I'm going to start heel training. Though I'm thinking I'll use the word "side" rather than heel. I also have balance & vision difficulties, especially in my peripherals. Or when turning my head. So I want "side/heel" to mean my left or right side & trust my dog can tell which side is best for him to be on. I hope you guys have more videos showing examples of this training with actually chihuahuas as I'm a visual learner.

Im wondering if you have a small breed recommendation, I have a small parrot and I’m looking for a smaller, short haired (or even hairless) breed that stands a chance of socializing with my parrot. I think American hairless are great but I’m unsure if they’re capable of assimilating to a house with a bird

I have a seven year old chihuahua plus a biological two year old brother and sister chihuahuas , the two year old boy only barks as his tiny sister barks at any dog ,although she’s friendly ,she’s scared and hates to play in the park with other dogs where as he’s fine ,but now once she barks he barks n barks ,I walk them all the time ,and take them out a lot even in a dog stroller in all weathers they get mental stimulation and exercise and socialised …but when she’s quiet he barks now and seems too anxious ,that he has to guard her or us …I’ve tried splitting them up on walks as hubby carry’s his sister and walks a head sometimes .hes great passing other dogs then and she’s quiet without her back up big bro … but now she looks back for him and once he hears her bark he goes in to action barking .

These days, robots have less mono tone

i thought about getting a crate for my chihuahua, so she will stop peeing inside not on a pad while i go to work, but you just cant leave them in a crate for 8-9 hours that would be cruel. but it can help in the training or when you just leave short term. (since then she learned without a crate <3 )

The barking doesn't even bother me. My boy is 11 weeks old now, I just want him to stop biting me. Not in a malicious way, but the biting is so annoying.

My dog is 11 yrs old. We moved into a high traffic area with many other dogs and my chihuahua lunges at large dogs. Yesterday she attacked a 50lb dog! She wiggled out of her harness and went for his neck! Thank God no one was hurt, but I’m feeling very discouraged. Now, our mile or two walks are limited. I’m so discouraged. Can you guide me? She isn’t motivated with treats, which is frustrating. I even considered reining her, but she’s my everything. Now she’s housebound…. With occasional small walks outside, not our normal 1-2 mile “sniffaris” as we call them. 😔

I've had several chihuahus over a 25 yr period, and not one has been an all day barker. They all loved everyone during the day, but if they saw strangers at night outside, then they barked. Great little alarms.

My chihuahua-frenchie mix attacks the heels of guests and can draw blood obly when they are trying to leave. Why does this happen and what can be done? She otherwise likes people and has no issue with their arrival.

Our dog will attack (or protect) anyone who he is near at any given time. We are fostering this 7 year old chihuahua . He is typically loving and sweet, but will try to bite when he thinks someone may be a threat to whomever he is closest to at the moment. Any thoughts? Thanks

One of my 2 chihuahuas - 10 month old brothers - is incredibly skittish, pulling out of his halter, scared of people, kids, other dogs. We adopted them at almost 8 months. They are so different. They were raised together in a very sheltered environment with no socialization, etc. His brother is just your average little pup. Smart, takes things in stride, a tiny bit nervous but getting better and is learning his boundaries. The one chi does react out of anxiety. They're walked many times a day, play hard, and have diversions. Both dogs are not aggressive with my husband and me. We can tell the anxious dog is smart and can learn but his anxiety overrides everything. We do our best to communicate as calmly as possibly. He walks on a leash well only if he has his brother as the leader. Otherwise he pulls to go back. We initially were going to only adopt the anxious dog then were sent videos that the pair were very bonded and decided to take both. That may have been a mistake. When we met the anxious dog he hid and would not approach and ran to escape. His brother warmed up very quickly. The night we met them and before we picked them up the next day to take them home we discussed not taking the skittish one even though we had already paid for him and wouldn't get our money back. But instead we felt really bad for them and took them both. Our vet even said he may have to be medicated daily because it is just how he is. I've had so many great dogs. (and was a vet tech) Plus, not all of my past dogs came from great situations, either, but this one is really stressing out the family.

Lady isn't aggressive it's more possessive but I have x2 puppies and she's not being nice. I'm thinking meds to just chill her out more

You will find that chihuahuas are extremely protective of their owners,hence the barking to make you aware something is happening

If only it was that simple. Mines been socialized, exercised etc etc. Never barks for attention but some days he seems to think we need to be alerted about a leaf blowing across the yard

My son recently passed away and I inherited his cane corso. He is a well behaved dog, but my chihuahua attacks him when he gets close to me or my husband. Besides dealing with my grief …I am at my wits end dealing with my chihuahua.

Ugh no prong collar or choke collar on a Chihuahua , dumb dude mentioning this on where ppl are watching for Chihuahuas barking!!! They have history of collapse trach. Get a little squirt gun or water spray bottle one squirt and mine stops and he remembers. Also he talks toomuch get to the point!!

This is exactly what I thought was goin on w one of my Chihuahuas. I have 2 males. They were litter mates. One is well behaved & stays close to me. The other is a melancholy dog. I’ve seen this in him since he was about 1 & 1/2 years old. I’m home w them every day & I’ve watched how he’s grown. He gets bored & frustrated. The problem is about the same time is when I fell & tore my rotator cuff & bicep tendon. Because of Covid it was 2.5 years before I finally had surgery & the first surgery failed & it was another 6 months before the complete shoulder replacement and 7 months of not being able to use my arm. So 3 years later & melancholy Chihuahua is bored & frustrated. I can see this but don’t know what to do to help him. Thank you for sharing your knowledge. I’m visiting family in another state & his barking is driving us crazy which led me to this video. ❤❤❤

Is there any longer videos of this?.. i would love to go into detail about this as I've been upset for the past year now since we got our new dog, he bites and attacks, we were barley able to save his life. Id like to learn a lot more.

🙄Wow, this guy talks and talks and always says the same as before. He always repeats himself as if he himself does not believe this nonsense. No one can work with their dog until they have be resturctured by them? Oh wow, what an ego! My dog only barks on very special occasions and this video was tiring and useless. And no no one must treat him with physical harm, he will never go to a shelter. What ideas you have!

Hi from Sydney,Australia.Thank God my 8 month old chihuahua puppy doesn't lick me. Because I think his tongue comes out the side of his jaw. But he licks everything else,and is so stubborn. His starting this humping males more than females. I wish you could do a video on why chihuahuas do this and if desexing the male if it will stop them.

It's frustrating how many people insist balanced training is abuse. Positive only is great when it works and yes there are people who will simply use aversive tools when they're not needed qnd often use them in a way that is bad, but that doesn't mean they should never be used regardless of the situation

Im a positive reinforcement/corrective behavior trainer. Ive saved hundreds of dogs from the shelter. i use the prong collar but i would never use a prong on a chihuahua.

Wrong: Chihuahua’s can be more than 4-6 lbs.

We have an 8 year old neutered male Chihuahua and a 6 year old female spade Staffordshire Cross. We recently rescued an 8 month old female spade Staffordshire Cross. Both staffies are now getting along after establishing their pack position. However, the Chihuahua is not having it and attacking the new pup. Of course she gets excited and it just blows up from there. Any tips?

You know, I have been used to having nothing but BIG DOGS, even a NEWFOUNDLAND. And, now, I have bad ARTHRITIS, and so, I have figured that now I should get a SMALL dog. But, from what I hear the Chi Chi's are kinda "DIVA'S" OR LIKE big dogs in small bodies. I have never had a small dog, I am not even sure that I would really want one. I may just end up getting a dog that is NOT big and NOT small either. BUT, anyway, please tell me what to expect from having a Chi chi, (short for Chihuahua) of course.
