Aftermarket Glock triggers, failures, and widespread inconsistencies.
Regardless of who makes a aftermarket trigger for the Glock across the board there are massive failures, inconsistencies, incompetence, and potential lies. Sometimes its a user error, sometimes its the opposite. What is true regardless of which is occurring is that reliability cannot be guaranteed and that should be seriously considered. This video will go over a situation involving Tactical triggers llc and Apex Tactical.

    Gotta agree. Disappointment with a unit that withstood 6000 rounds and then feeling put out by removing one screw, pop on new rings, and add a drop of locktight and screw it in and heaven forbid wait a day really comes across as entitled BS to throw out a $200 accessory that does its job. Hell, the average Joe isn't putting 7000 rounds through their AR in 5 years. Dont like it, fine. But your argument here seems to me very petty (or vidictive) IMHO. Cheers.

      Entitled? Actually shooting guns and not liking gimmick products is entitled? You neatly ignored a lot of very specific points and if youre actually gonna argue people who don’t shoot should waste their money on something they won’t break because they don’t actually use it what point are you even making. It wouldn’t even matter if they had it or didn’t have it if they didn’t train and they’d still be out 200$. Dog you sound vindictive. You’re emotional tied to an overpriced recoil system.

    Look at the trajectory of your shells when ejected around 2 o’clock tells me your gun is running very gassy probably because of the suppressor putting the JP silence spring on probably increases that and if your spring is too heavy, you can have problems with the bolt locking on the last round it’s all about the fine tune man

    • @autonomousdefense
      @autonomousdefense 2 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Bolts never had problems locking to the rear. What you’re talking about has never been an issue nor is it even the subject of this review or the problems with this product. Regardless of the pressure this system was fired suppressed and unsuppressed and the system failed at the exact round count JP claimed it would which again, they do not openly tell you when you purchase the product. And it’s not about fine tuning, fine tuning is a gas port drilled properly to allow the gun to cycle and fire reliably. If you have a properly built “duty” style rifle using a BCM upper your failure point shouldn’t be a recoil spring assembly.

    I have aftermarket triggers in every Glock I have and have never had a problem. You need to watch Johnny Glocks videos about chasing the grit and checking the frame for points where it’s interfering with the trigger. Johnny Glocks, Overwatch, etc are solid go to war triggers.

    • @autonomousdefense
      @autonomousdefense 8 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Really? because you dig into Johnny Glock deep enough you will find similar inconsistencies like all trigger manufacturers. I’ve seen plenty of his content digging deep into the internals. None of these triggers are “go to war” triggers, that’s a ridiculous statement. This comment your making seems like you didn’t watch the video because if you did it would highlight the fact that these people who have good reputations and their companies both clearly demonstrated incompetence at best and dishonesty at worst. Nobody in a fucking warzone is running anything outside of a factory trigger for blatantly obvious reasons. You simply saying you have aftermarket triggers doesn’t mean you’ve actually shot them heavily or taken them anywhere outside of a flat range either.

      As far as I could tell with the armorers plate on the back there wasn’t any contact the second time I adjusted the trigger. First time I adjusted it there might have been but I immediately stopped using it that first week. The second week after it was adjusted again is when it still continued to have light strikes spanning 400 rounds in one range session. Again the striker did not drag on the cruciform when it was adjusted the second time

    Lmao should’ve gone with the Overwatch Precision. I have 8 of them, they’re rock solid, all safeties intact and I have had 0 issues with any of them including one with about 17K rounds through it. Interesting you had so many problems.. but I now ONLY use Overwatch triggers. It appears it’s possible your frame is out of spec. That happened to me when I first starting shooting, had a S&W M&P Shield and the frame was out of spec and I had to send it back to have it destroyed and a new frame sent out.

    • @autonomousdefense
      @autonomousdefense 9 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I really doubt the frame is out of spec. Quite literally has never had issues and continues not to have issues as I continue training for uspsa matches. This gun had 9k through it and by the end of next month it will have an additional 2k. It’s getting 1000-2000 rounds per month fired in it right now with maybe 1 light primer striker per 400-500 rounds with whatever cheap ammo I can get my hands on. That especially with shitty ammo with military primers is exceptionally good performance. I would have considered my gun the problem until those email exchanges demonstrated people saying things that either A, mean nothing, or B, demonstrate a complete lack of understanding of the Glocks internal mechanisms.

      @SullyCortez 9 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@autonomousdefense interesting. Yea when I first got started, I picked up two Tactical Triggers and for awhile they worked great in My G17 Gen3 and G19 Gen 5. But after a while, I didn’t like the idea of drilling into the housing and monkey-ing around with set screws so I opted to go for a more “factory” style approach, and as I said Overwatch is where I landed on. It’s too bad cause my Tactical Triggers ran great for approx 5K rounds… HOWEVER… I will say it did take some work to get them to function in my both frames, and whenever I tried those triggers on other frames as I started shooting more and acquiring more guns, they WOULD NOT work in any other frame. So I definitely feel your pain. If you ever get the chance to try the Overwatch TAC trigger (or Falx if you prefer curved) I have a feeling you’ll like it a lot. Especially since Overwatch uses stock Glock trigger bars and DOES NOT modify them, they only add NP3 coatings to protect the metal longer.

    Every time I handle a new Glock I want to purchase, I field strip the slide from the frame and do those safety checks just to be sure because you can see those kinds of failures even from the factory. Never trust any piece of equipment you haven't personally verified yourself. That said, I'm disappointed in Apex's response because per Glock, the trigger bar dropping from the safety shelf when the trigger is reset on the trigger safety is NOT a safe condition. They should know better than that. You indeed did have a defective trigger bar or trigger shoe. And you're smart to return it to OEM. If you'd rather be safe than sorry, stick with the OEM internals. Get those calluses and put them to good use

  • @dylanholbrook6239
    @dylanholbrook6239 10 วันที่ผ่านมา

    You can get sub 4lbs with all oem parts and un modified springs or disconnector. Pre travel and over travel screws are junk, always. Just shape the birds head with a file. Make a gen 5 trigger bar shaped like a gen 3 where it meets the disconnector (the birds head)

    • @dylanholbrook6239
      @dylanholbrook6239 10 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Also, the shoe is polymer and can be shaped to the point that it is flat faced at a 90° break for the bottom half of the trigger you interface with. Smoothed and flush trigger blade when depressed. And it's all free to do

    • @autonomousdefense
      @autonomousdefense 10 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@dylanholbrook6239 I’m aware of all this my factory setup with a minus connector sits at 3.5lb and with its high round count it’s pretty smooth. That’s part of the reason I made this video because the factory configuration is already pretty good. I haven’t considered altering the shoe to resemble a flat face or making the safety tab flush. I’ve definitely done more complicated things than that so maybe I’ll alter the shoe.

    • @autonomousdefense
      @autonomousdefense 9 วันที่ผ่านมา

      By their own admission this trigger was defective and their customer service lead not only argued in the face of a video but did so in a condescending way. Im pretty sure the only reason my email got sent to someone higher up at apex was because of the exact words “I will make this known” I can’t tell you the last time I heard an apex trigger fail because nobody uses them. Relatively speaking, to how many people shoot glocks and shoot them at a high level, very few people actually use apex.

    • @autonomousdefense
      @autonomousdefense 9 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Frankly this was a spectacular fuck up on their behalf. Let me ask you, if it was that easy for someone to make themselves look like an idiot and then have someone else at their company overwrite their decision, would you trust them to manufacture a trigger especially when their policies basically give them immunity or at the very least attempt to give them legal immunity should the system fail.

    I have had a aftermarket trigger in my Glock 19 for so long I can’t remember what it is. But I have 1000’s of rounds through it no issue. Go back to stock or a different brand. Some of them do work well.

    • @autonomousdefense
      @autonomousdefense 10 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Some of them do work well some of the time and nobody seems to be able to explain that fact or admit to it. That isn’t exactly what you would call a “finished” product if half the time it doesn’t work or it objectively works only when the drop safety shelf isn’t physically engaged. Which several triggers do in fact “work” but don’t engaged the safety shelf when the trigger is in the safety position without the slide.

    • @autonomousdefense

    • @autonomousdefense

      They really don’t like to get dirty. Glocks own recommendations are to clean and lubricate it after each use. Having had my hands on one the reset starts to get really fucked up. Personally I don’t like any of that from what I’ve seen and heard most people switch away from it. There also appears to be a difference between the original test versions and the commercial released version. The released version seems to have had more problems than the originals. I also don’t like the Timney triggers for the same reason. Everyone thought it was revolutionary and the next big thing till about 5 months later failures upon failures upon failures became more and more widely known.

People who train really hard dont really use them and people who are hyper competitive in USPSA usually run a different handgun altogether. I'm pretty sure this is one of the main reasons whenever you look into ANYONES trigger for a Glock they're NEVER, EVER, reliable or consistent between different guns of the same make and model. I'm pretty sure the market exists entirely because people dont generally shoot aftermarket triggers and people don't find flaws in them because of this.

Both those titles are thrown around by people who have zero field experience or high volume use with firearms. I've watched "Gunsmiths" fuck up costumers guns, I've watched dudes who had private businesses working on rifles assemble them like dogshit and lie to costumers. I've worked on more rifles and handguns that are used by dudes who actually train with them more than most "Gunsmiths" and "Armorers" have. my skill set is not using Lathes or CNC machines but rather making these relatively easily modified weapons work in extremely high round counts in different environments. Dudes who work on guns are a lot like dudes who work on vehicles. Mechanics will lie and scam the fuck out of you or lie to avoid legal action for damage to your vehicle. Check the tolerances of the trigger main pin.. if the relation between trigger pin and where it inserts into the frame becomes sloppy, you will lose contact with the safety plunger.. the only reasons it happens on new glock's, is because of a casting defect on the gen4 and gen5 plunger where it contacts the firing pin.. take a round file and re-profile it. New glocks are nowhere near as good as gen3 an earlier glocks.. anyways, replace your frame and i would bet that almost all your problems go away. Old frames cause alot of problems.

This Glock has had absolutely zero failures minus a single light primer strike in 500 rounds since I put my factory trigger back into the gun. This video also very clearly demonstrates for a fact, companies don’t know what the fuck they’re talking about and would sooner sell you something unsafe than admit they’re lacking experience. I’ve never noticed anything sloppy or wrong with that trigger main pin nothing is different between it and any other Glock I have my hands on at the moment I will consider what you are saying and look into it more

      Again these issue only occurred with other peoples trigger bars, trigger bars that aren’t the same generation and can’t even be verified to be in fact OEM parts. Why would I replace my entire frame to resolve a problem isolated specifically to other peoples trigger bars. I’m not dogging you, you’re just a guy giving me feedback but this order of resolution to a problem is the same thing someone who manufactures this stuff would say “it’s not our part it’s your parts, replace everything and it’ll work” meanwhile the actual OEM parts work flawlessly. Historically speaking when a pattern like that happens it’s because someone’s lying to get money out of you. good example is automotive mechanics.

    I have both. I consider myself more of an "AK guy" than an AR dude but I 100% understand the benefits of what you get out of an AR-15 that you don't get with a AKM pattern gun so I keep both. Both are "Duty Quality" guns that I do maintain very well. Built for different SHTF scenarios. My first weapon (Specifically for bugging IN during SHTF situations and home defense) is a Zastava M92ZPAP. Completely kitted out to be a modern fighting weapon. Were talking quality red dot/flashlight/flash hider set up. Its 10 inch barrel makes it fantastic for clearing rooms and CQB type of things, but even 7.62x39 out of a 10 inch barrel... it only loses like 200 fps of velocity compared to a 16... So your STILL moving big hunks of 30 caliber lead at super sonic speeds exceeding 2000 fps with quality ammunition. I personally use different ammo in different magazines. My steel Yugo mags are packed with standard 7.62.39 FMJ and my Drums and polymer magazines are loaded with hollow points. The FMJ's will tear thru a car effortlessly, glass, drywall studs, it punches through all of that, while the hollow point are for hitting soft targets up close and personal and delivering substantial damage as quickly as possible. The Flash hider I use adds a little weight but it suppresses damn near 100 % of the flash even in pitch dark conditions, its not as good as a suppressor but its literally the next best thing. For a gun of mines size its a must have. I use the 4 piece flash hider from AK builders but I also have a strela that is even better. Now if I gotta roll out. Leave home forever. Gotta carry bunch of shit far away on foot.. I got my AR-15 for that. Standard 16 inch barrel size. 3 prong flash hider ASR mount. Stubby VFG on a 15 inch rail. 1x6 LPVO. BCM butt stock (the one with the two sides of storage on it), Raptor charging handle, Enhanced BCG melonite/nitride treated. And a real good flat faced trigger. all things on it it doesnt weigh nearly as much as my M92 with the 75 round drum in it. The main reasons my bugging out rifle is an AR over an AK is.. Its just lighter. Mobility will be higher. Endurance will be easier. Also, If things got so bad I had to leave home forever, most likely im headed out to the country lol. Rural areas, woods, mountains, difficult terrain to navigate. ETC. Firefights if they should occur will happen at longer ranges potentially in the country than in a urban area. So having a caliber that is easier to be accurate with at 500 plus yards could be an important thing to have. Its also generally easier to mount heavier optics such as scopes and lpvo's that will actually hold zero through firing. Also if my gun gets damaged in the field, its gonna be easier to find a upper or a lower to replace what ever is damaged on my AR vs if my AK gets busted up and becomes unusable for whatever reason. But when it comes to optics and holding zero. AK's just do better with lighter weight optics like red dots.

    Thanks for sharing your experiences, which I can only corroborate. I had a JP SCS in my Bul Armory BL9 PCC 9mm. Initially indeed smoother and more silent, but ~2000 rounds in, I started to have malfunctions. It took me a while to figure it out, but the plastic rear buffer started to crack and dump small plastic particles in the buffer tube, causing cycling issues. JP SCS concept sounds great, but adds more complexity and maintenance issues, than it actually solves. Thus, I switched back to the standard spring and buffer set up.

    I agree. It really isn't worth it.

    Great review. I took a new build to the range today with the JP system and didn’t notice any real difference. Not for the price for sure.

    Thank you for a great video! You touched on every point and made your case like a lawyer. However I didn’t mean to insult you by saying like a lawyer, but you explained and made your case!! Again thank you!🙏🏼

    If anyone thinks AK's can't be reloaded quickly, go look at Klayco47. That guy is blink and you'll miss it fast. If you're half that fast, you're probably going to be good enough.

      Aimpoint T2 1.93 or 2.26 Or just use a 1913 section as a riser for lower mounts

    What do you use now? Regular spring and buffer?

    • @autonomousdefense
      @autonomousdefense หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes actually, standard spring and a H2 buffer or appropriate weight based on the build. I actually revisited this rabbit hole of tuning guns based off the buffer system and oh boy. The vltor A5 and BCM MK2 systems might be gigantic crocks of shit. Weirdly enough if you look deep enough into it. It appears flat wire springs and higher mass H3-H4 buffers might actually accomplish the same thing JP, vltor, BCM, and giessele. Claim to do with their proprietary recoil systems. It’s really weird how all of these companies all tried accomplishing the same thing. I think I’ve found more people using springco springs and flatwire springs than people who actually use the vltor. Eventually I’ll put out another video about It if I find anything of significant value from trying something other than a standard buffer and spring again. I’ve got a feeling it won’t make that much of a difference.

      Anyone who skips through a video and makes absolute statements that aren’t even said in the video probably shouldn’t post a comment making themselves look stupid. God forbid anyone actually claims the original design that’s changed very little in the last hundred years is somehow superior than gimmick products nobody fucking uses.
