You basically could play that battle with the warlord games starter army, the light infantry would be 6 horsemen, I habe played that against my nephew and it was a lot of fun
Please help, im just getting into black powder and I’m a little confused with the army building rules for the Austrians. Under the infantry brigade it says I can’t have more Hungarian than German infantry regiments, is this referring to the whole army or in that particular brigade, I assume it’s for the whole army though it doesn’t say that even though it DOES say it for the cannon and grenza. Another question how is the author getting 34 points for the Abteilung? The example stats that the two hussar regiments could be replaced with up to four small units each, but with the small units being 8 points but that doesn’t work, nor does dividing the hussar unit by 8 out of 51 points. Any clarity would be GREATLY appreciated
I'm using the Wargames Factory/Warlord Games figures to game the Scania War (1675-79) and the Great Northern War (1700-21). I have been able to modify their two basic figures into several additional poses, including pikemen.
They are great figures to work with and cheap as chips compared to metals
I prefer the hard plastic miniatures because they are much easier to modify, just need a razor saw, Exacto knife and some imagination! Instead of just their two poses, I now have six different musketeers and four different pikemen for my GNW skirmish games.@@scotty7906
Very nice, just staring into Black Powder an I would like to collect either the Austrians or Prussians. I like the base sizes too compared to the 40x40, are they 50x50?
Where do you buy these models from?
I got mine from ebay
my union cavalry boys will go for this colour done 6 tonight
just beautiful
Really nicely done. What size bases are you using?
sorry I ended up selling my miniatures so not sure what size bases they were.
Decades since I last played Shako (1st Ed.) - a good Napoleonic rule set. Btw, if the figures are sculpted wearing the later 'Belgic' shako, you needn't worry about the pom poms because they are correctly on the side (but if wearing the earlier 'stovepipe' shako, they should be in the middle, as you say).
many thanks. appreciated
looks awesome, nice work. Where do you get the grass mat?
Very enjoyable game.
Charging a fresh Union unit which is supported by Union artillery, both of which are getting a defensive bonus for being behind earthworks, should be punished.
Did your wheat field slow the movement of the units moving through it? (I would suggest that it should; that is a way to make a smaller table work better with the rules, i.e. with movement impediments).
I would also paint the white "bottom edge" of your fields in a green that matches you game mat (green).
The rules work just fine for small games. I would suggest that you paint the bases a green to match your mat (on the video they look almost black). They would blend in much better if they matched the green of the table mat/cloth. Nice looking figures.
Many thanks. Sold these figures quite a while ago. They were some of my first armies
thanks for sharing, great looking miniatures
Many thanks. Glad you liked them
The armies look great. Very nice work. I see you found a use for the Team Yankee dice that doesn't require them to roll hits. Mine never seem too!
Many thanks. Yep the red/blue dice came in handy
Very enjoyable, thanks for putting up. I like the way you have modelled the Battlescale bridge onto the river piece. Your decision to go to half size bases does make crossing bridges ‘look’ right.
Many thanks. Yes columns on roads bridges do look better with half bases.
Please do a battle report.
I am uploading one now but it is just an overview of the game. thanks
@@scotty7906 Thank you!
Excellent battle. I watched it again. Did you modify the rules at all, or just use them as is with smaller units?
Thanks. I just used as smaller units.
Excellent job. It would be fun to see some of the die rolling for fire, melee and the charges (to see how that is done in ore detail). Nice to see Shako 2 being used. I met Arty Conliffe at a wargame convention back when Tactica and Armati were popular.
Thanks. I may do a smaller battle in more detail in the future. Just eats up a lot of time filming when playing a game. I do like the rules and find them very good for napoleonics
What did you use for the bases? And how long did it take you to paint them?
I use mdf bases from warbases. I paint in batches...so 2 units of infantry at a time. I would say about 3 hours depending on the type.
@@scotty7906 Do you round them yourself, or do they come that way?
They come with rounded edges
@@scotty7906 What is the thickness? And, what are the dimensions (L x W)?
Great looking miniatures and terrain!
many thanks. appreciated
Nice one mate. Looks great
Many thanks. Still lots and lots of plastic to get through
Fantastic love to see your WSS presentations.
Many thanks. Appreciated
Looks beautiful, I espicially like the mass effect of your armies!
many thanks. Appreciated
Exactly the rules I will be using for my Epic figures with 40 strong battalionsand 20 strong cav regiments. Also will be trying out General d,'Armee same scale
They are good rules. Enjoy using them
Hi, good update and a real growth of your forces. Hopefully you will cover the fight as a video - but I know it is a big job to film and edit on top of playing the game and light changes on these shorter days, so even if you just dived in to do some opening commentary at the start, then again in the middle of the scenario to show us how the battle is developing and then at the end of the game as a wrap up, that would be great and might help you manage the workload better. Cheers.
P.S. have you seen the next Epic release ….. ECW?
Thanks for the advice. Yep may just do recap a few turns at a time so we can get the game done in a few hours. Saw the ecw epic release...gonna be hard to resist
Nice Video Craig, figure look superb. First use of Epic figures I have seen.
many thanks. just working on some Prussians now
What size bases did you use for the cavalry? Looks well spaced with the Epics. Cheers!
The bases for the cavalry are 40mm x 30mm round cornered bases
What an outstanding set!
many thanks
I don't see why the British should get VP's until they reach zone 3 as being stuck in a valley under the enemy's guns isn't most people's idea of success! There should also be some Russian cavalry behind the guns to counter charge as they did on the day. Good to watch though!
yep agree. success is reaching the guns.
Great video! As it happens I've just completed the Heavy Brigade myself (Christmas gift from my lovely wife); I now have all the British and Russians to do Balaklava while another club member is doing the French army. I had to convert Austrian Grenzers for British line and rifles, Russian infantry from Tumbling Dice as well as converted Prussian Landwehr from Hat and Strelets. Great work on those figures, we'll have to compare notes!
unfortunately I had to sell my Crimean collection. I did do some infantry before I sold them..using strelets rifles.
The British can fire and charge if the enemy is stopped by a volly, remember point blank fire +1, also you need to pick up michael hoppers scenario books
ahh thats something I forgot...thanks. I have chris leach fields of glory scenario book but will deffo check out michael hoppers
You did a fantastic job on the figures. Are all of them the warlord epic range? Very nice video on the rules as well.
many thanks. yes all are warlord plastic range.
Cracking video mate, lovely table and troops
many thanks
I think this is the first battle report I have seen for this scale and it looks great!
Hopefully when I get some more troops done I can do some more.
Great Video! Amazing looking armies all deployed in mass!
thanks. I do like this scale for a more mass effect. especially the infantry battalions
Good show keep it up!
many thanks. glad you liked it.
Good to dee an update and a game going with Epic - enjoyed, thanks.
many thanks. hopefully with some more figures painted up I can do a a more detailed report. Just need to sort some scenery out
The armies look great lined up on the table. Nice video
many thanks. looking forward to increasing the armies
Very nice. 👍
The half bases look very effective.
Good stuff much like my own choice of halving the bases i am using age of eagles however i bought the complete range upto scots and guard and im not liking the thought of painting my lot lol but yours are giving me inspiration and i thank you for that all best
Thanks, I am currently struggling my way through the French line infantry but also doing the cavalry as a change.
Looks great!
A fantastic video! I love the very hard work you did on painting the two armies. Very impressive collection. Thank you for sharing this story. Cheers!
Outstanding.
Nice review, thanks for what you do.
Fun stuff! Thanks for what you do!
Many thanks
Fun stuff, thanks!
