Fred Johnson's "acolyte" is his Executive Officer and Security Chief who's name is Camina Drummer.

When a ship cuts its drive it remains on an inertial ballistic abiding by Newton's First Law of Motion. If the ship is not accelerating/decelerating it moves at a constant velocity.

Anderson Dawes is engaging in what psychologists call "Projection" by assuming that Fred Johnson would act the way he would if their positions were reversed. Dawes cannot think like an Earther any more than Holden or Fred can think like a Belter.

23:27 if they cut their drive, they're _not_ decelerating, or accelerating. they're moving at a constant speed. but they're harder to spot without the big bright plume of exhaust from the drive

Fun fact: Gunny wears a "space acvities suit" under her armor, which we saw when they blew off her armor on the surface of Ganymede. The reason they blew off her armor is because it's freaking heavy, even on Ganymede. Back in the late 50s and early 60s as NASA was mulling over various space suit design possibilities, one idea was that a full air-tight suit combining both air pressure and environmental protection wasn't necessary. It would work as well to have a skin-tight suit to substitute for air pressure, a helmet for breathing, and a non-pressurized suit for environmental protection. That would solve a lot of problems, particularly the problem of mobility in a fully pressurized suit (mobility is still a problem in modern suits, which is why EVAs are so physically demanding). The skin-tight suit would be a "Space Activities Suit," worn as an ordinary utility uniform as we see the Martian Marines typically wear aboard ship. Cortazar told Amos, "You want to be that 'real boy'..." Remember Naomi had described Amos to Miller as "Pinocchio"...the puppet who wanted to be a "real boy." Naomi keeps trying to teach Holden the Belter point of view, get him to understand their pain and anger, their sense that everyone is against them and they have no allies. But he's not listening. I've been a military debriefer, and I picked up immediately that Thorsen was leading Bobbie in that debriefing. A big no-no. You ask, "what happened next?" questions to keep the soldier on track recounting the combat action, but you don't provide "leading answers" as he did. If Earth had the ability to wipe out a Martian Marine squad so easily, you'd think they'd want every detail of how that happened. Maybe the writers just don't know how a debriefing is done.... I don't know if the Mars Congressional Republic has the same kind of Bill of Rights as the US (probably not) but in the US, a military chaplain has the only absolute confidentiality of anyone in uniform. If a troop confesses a crime to a military lawyer, the military lawyer is bound to advise the commander; the same is true of a military doctor. Only a chaplain has absolute confidentiality; things confessed to a chaplain are truly "off the record." Even I, as a supervisor, had to read a troop "Article 31" (the military restatement of the Fifth Amendment) if it appeared the troop was about to confess to me. There were times I had young troops who I thought were borderline, particularly with mental issues. I made appointments for them to see the chaplain rather than "Mental Health." The chaplain had authority to decide what to do next. Dawes didn't know there was a scientist until Diogo revealed it. Dawes kept digging after talking to Drummer, so Drummer must not have told him anything. Johnson doesn't know about the sample of Protomolecule. Miller's first idea was to destroy Eros completely, but at that suggestion he got "You can't stop the Work!" from Proto/Eros-Julie. But Proto/Eros-Julie agreed to crash into Venus.... Jared Harris has some good "dad stories" of his father Richard Harris.

Richard Harris acted in a lot, both on stage and on the small and large screens. Unforgiven and Patriot Games come to mind, plus a bunch of older movies.

But we did see Epstein stroke out and die. I have a crazy crush on Frankie AKA Roberta Draper. For many reasons, but her lips and eyes are gorgeous.

FWIW, the sirocco is a wind that comes from dry hot air moving north out of the Sahara into the Med. Interesting that Martian ships are still being named after stuff from Earth.

I think the point of juxtaposing the Epstein Drive story with the last episode is that "technology changes everything" - for better and for worse. Humanity just recently obtained and started playing with protomolecule.

Cortazar is fucking creepy. He is still a human, he has memories of caring about other people. But his ability to care about others has been surgically removed. Amos is worried that he is like Cortazar now, but the very fact that he is worried shows he is not like Cortazar. Amos still cares about the distinction between right and wrong, even if he cannot see it clearly himself all the time. That's why he latches on to people like Naomi and Holden to be his surrogate conscience. He knows that if he follows the right people who are better than he is, that he is at least on the right side. So maybe he can put his talents for violence and brutality to use for a good cause. Oh and please subscribe if you're reading this and you aren't! I feel that Fred Johnson doesn't really want dawes, Fred is trying to keep himself in the OPA political game, After loosing standing amongst the other factions..

The voice over Epstein gives during the episode, Explains his wife does have his drive plans. Lots of people aren't paying attention and miss that point, And say it's not clear enough lol..

"Why wasn't Cortazar guarded by soldiers?" The OPA doesn't have a military, as they're not a true nation. They just have skull cracking factions like Black Sky.

Not a spoiler or hint or anything, just a coincidence of skillsets and hiring directors, but something fun to know going forward: The actor doing all of the performance capture for the Blue Dude on Ganymede is Elias Toufexis; otherwise known as everyone's favourite Protomolecule-Lunch & Spy, Kenzo. Elias is a pretty big name in video games as a performance capture actor and just like, a cool dude, so they had him come back and play the creature. (if you're much into gaming I SUPER recommend the Deus Ex-(2/3rds of an unfortunately studio sidelined trilogy, but still worth it)-pair: Human Revolution and Mankind Divided. Elias plays the main character, and it's all performance capture work as well.)

No, Belter Creole isn't as well laid-out as Tolkien's work. Tolkien was a linguist first, a world-builder second, and a storyteller third. The world he created was primarily to give his languages a world to live in, the stories were almost afterthoughts. Belter Creole is also based on existing Earth languages which meant expanding it from the few phrases used in the books into a full language was mostly a matter of remixing those languages in a realistic way compared to Tolkein inventing his languages entirely from scratch, then developing languages that evolved out of them over thousands of years. That's not to say that Belter Creole _isn't_ a well laid-out language, it was also developed by a linguist who was commissioned to do so for the TV series, however, comparing it to Tolkien's work is like comparing Danny Elfman to Mozart or Beethoven. It's good, it's simply an unfair comparison.

There's no such thing as an unnecessarily wide screen, come on! Dawes is a fascinating character and Jared Harris portrayal is immaculate if you ask me.

Bobby's kiwi accent is great in this!

You called out the blood snowflake, and then when you cut back to your room, I see snowflakes on one of the pictures on the wall. Synchronicity! Dawes' visit to the Roci was interesting, you can see him spin a very believable story, perhaps even the truth. You can see Holden put himself in between Holden and Naomi, perhaps trying to protect her? Bobbie taking that drug was good for information retrieval, but made her re-live the experience, which would have been traumatic all over again. Her commanders were ok with that trade-off. Sounds just a little hard-assed to me. Bobbie going to Earth? Not the way she wants (ie part of an assault team), but still, could be fun! About the Roci firing on the Belter ship, ships with one drive cone can't thrust once it's buggered up. I think that's one reason why larger ships have more drives, you can continue on if you lose one. You can feel this is a tension building episode, something is going to pop soon!
