How do I export multipass with Corona in C4D?
@@spyketherobot it should be covered in the tutorial. In the Picture Viewer, you can change tabs and select multiview to see the ID pass and then you save it out like any other render. Or from the Corona VFB you can change from Beauty to ID pass and save from there.
Yay, a C4D user! Funnily enough I was looking for some furniture modeling guides. Btw, rather than move your extrude object (for the table), just select the spline, then the extrude object and then select Center Parent To under the Axis menu. It will then line up the extrude object axis with the splines.
One other thing - you don't need to make a copy of the spline for the flute covers - instead you can Shift +C for the commander and search for Geometry Axis. Add this as a child to the flute cloner - then use the offsets to re-position the flutes.
try this with "structural members" tool and polygon mode and your indivvidual profile shape. works fine
Very useful
Fantastic tutorial 👍
Thank you deeply. Kind regards, Ryan C. Reed
Ryan C. Reed here. - def buying this. You're a legend for selling this .
Nicely presented. Never say you can't learn new things.
Don't ever delete this tutorial. Every time I have to draw smooth curves for moulding or any similar curves, I always search to find this tutorial. It's a gold mine. Thanks
@@bldrtom Thanks Tom!
Is it possible to export all those Cloner Instances individually as stls so they retain their uniqueness (like say scale or twist)
Hi! If you set the Cloner type to Instance and then hit C to make the cloner editable, it will convert into a Null folder with all the geometry inside of it as is. You could also try to select the cloner, right click and choose "Current State to Object", though admittedly, I don't know I've tried that on a cloner. See if either of those do what you want.
Yes, thank you 😊 This works! My last challenge now is to export all those separate instances/objects (dozens of them) as individual .stl files 😮
@@idmimagineeringCOUK worth digging around in the web to see if there is a script or plug in that would do that. You can't be the first one to need that kind of export.
@@design.alexander ka-ching! :-) 🙂
Amazing video Evan, but Cinema4D workflow is just not for me. Once you get used to Blender the other programs just does not look practical anymore. Maybe it's just a matter of taste! Keep up with the good work!
@fribiesdi Totally get it. I love blender too - there are some real philosophical differences in how those programs operate and I always encourage people to try them out and see which one feels better. It's like Fender or Gibson, Canon or Nikon. Everyone has to find the one that speaks to them.
You're a great presenter Evan. I'm learning quite a bit. Thank you.
Since I have used VectorWorks since it was MiniCAD, I thought, "hmm... maybe I'll catch something new... ya never know." Oh Yeah! The idea of using a 2nd monitor "Floating View Pane?!?!?! I do Zoom meetings all the time with clients, and the ability for them to just look at the Perspective view, while I work on the other monitor to do all the updates?! Must I say it? Game-Changer!! Thank you! Also, I was just working with a colleague who is learning VWX, and he had already found the CTRL-Mouse-Button temporary Fly-over tool, and I was trying to find it myself! HAHA! Plus, Naming Objects, directly connects to Creating Generic Solids before exporting to C4D. Another part of my daily workflow, now much better!! Thank again for this!!

Can the spot light add a Gobo?
Yes!~ There are two Spot fixtures - The ML01 and the ML02. The ML02 does color changing gobos or custom JPEG artwork like a projector. The final shot in this video with the rotating patterns and skull image were made with this unit.
Love it! I will be buying. How far off from the release date?

Great Tips. Thank you. I think that Alt could be used to select the other surface in tip number 5.
Yes! You are correct. Great tip - thank you!
is it possible to use default c4d light in corona render? or you should really use corona lights only for the seemless background?
I believe it is possible to use native C4d lights inside of Corona: I think the question would be why would you want to?
To clarify around this workflow: I use a Cinema Sky object and a Cinema Background object, but all materials and lights are Corona based.
If you change the data type for On/Off to "Boolean" it will create a checkbox interface instead of a float slider!
Yes! I've figured this out and integer radio buttons too. Xpresso is pretty cool! Big things coming soon on this front!

Evan, distinguishing between "intensity" and "exposure" on a visible light source is ... awsome. Thank you so much!
🔥🔥🔥
Ahahah how you could produce this so quickly is absolutely blowing my mind. I am so looking forward to this 1 hour process can't wait to deep dive into it. And im just 23 seconds in ! Will report back here after my first (or second) viewing !
Only Halfway through I feel like I should have definitely paid for this it's so good ! This is so relevant to our field and inspiring! We are such a niche market for content like this, it simply does not exist outside of people sharing their craft like you sir. Extremely Grateful.
@MaxxProducer @SimonBonami Here you go - a little light viewing for your weekend. Hope this helps!
Superb, thank you!
Would love to see how you set up your moving lights when exporting from VW to C4D. I use this software process for every rendering, but I’m having issues with the lighting symbols when moving over to the render phase. I’ll have to position everything in VW and in C4D I’ll just have a bunch of 3D geometry with the spot lights in a different folder. It’s easy to change colors for both lens and light and play around with the beam parameters, but if I wish to reposition the lights or pan/tilt the uphill begins since the light isn’t attached to the geometry as in Vectorworks. Any tips on this? It’s not a big hassle if the show has 10-20 lights but for an arena show with hundreds movers it’s a headache doing different looks.. and the worst part is if I have to change over something back in VW.
Same for me ! Would love to have a deep dive on your process between both softwares.
@MaxxProducer @SimonBonami Great question! I've actually working on a tutorial about this but put it aside - you've inspired me to brush it off and put it together. Until then, here's the short answer: I don't do any lighting in Vectorworks. I have the movers in there as Symbols, but they are just geometry. When I move to Cinema, the symbol becomes one master light at 0,0,0 and the lights on the rig become instances. I then swap out the master symbol with a light I've rigged in Cinema that has the Redshift Area light as part of the assembly. I've made user controls for pan, tilt, intensity, volumetrics and color to dial in the look easily. I then duplicate this symbol and assign the dupes to the clones in different parts of the rig. Where this all falls down is that I have to convert lighting instruments back to just Symbols in VW so they carry over as instances, and doing this kills the unit rotation and focus. So I have to clean the rig up before I can write cues which makes me angry :) Still trying to sort that one out. My system is not a perfect one for sure. Tutorial coming soon!
@@design.alexander Awesome, greatly appreciated! This is my biggest bump in my rendering process right now to figure out how to make easy changes to pan/tilt during rendering, but this clarifies a lot! Waiting for a tutorial on this! Just wanted to mention that your work has greatly inspired by as an visual designer and render artist!
Just started using VW a month ago and was about to happily rewatch EA's 10 Tips from 2022 only to find this amazing new set of tips! Coming from a SketchUp background, learning about tip #9 generic solids is a game changer for me!
Truly like how you explain how to use Vectorworks. Keep them coming!
Great Video! Like how you explain how the "tools" work. So much easier than the documentation. Showing the versatility of Vectorworks.
I'm at probably 10x views on your "10 Beginner Tips" video and I'll probably be a dozen re-watch here as well ahah ! Extremely relevant and insightful. Thanks again for the great content.
This makes me so happy!
Great Tips! I actually have a usage for the naming of objects inside of VectorWorks. In almost all my custom python plugins that interact with objects, the first thing it does is to name all of them. If the plugin at a later state has to change something on only one object it just looks for the name, which by the rules of VectorWorks has to be unique. Interesting and also helpful fact. If you manually duplicate the object and it already has a name which ends with a number it counts the number up by one.
Another instant classic! Great tips!!!
So great!! Appreciate these tutorials!
Seems really sensible but I can't seem to do this in 2024. Is there an updated workflow? The Screen plane bit at 12:45 isn't there in 2024 for me...
@MattSmith-di2io Yes, things have changed as Screen Plane has become legacy. Now, if you have a 3d symbol and you want to make it Hybrid - exit the symbol, then double click on it and choose EDIT 2D. This will ghost your 3d and you can now draw 2D on top of it (make sure SHOW OTHER OBJECTS WHILE IN EDIT MODE is active). When you exit the symbol edit, it will convert into a hybrid. I will post a video update - thanks for catching this.
Here is an updated video: th-cam.com/video/eXFOUU2X6JY/w-d-xo.htmlsi=TIdv2XBOQkGrMasK
@@design.alexander Awesome thanks! I've been struggling with this really simple thing since yesterday but now solved, thanks so much!!

Hello, I am doing modeling within the Cinema program, but a problem occurs when the number of modeling is large in the project. Are there steps to work on the project without access to the program?
Hi, can you be more specific about what kinds of problems you are having? Is your machine slowing down? Crashing? How many objects are you talking about?
Thanks Evan, really helpful , Sense of mischievous humour goes a long way when tearing out remaining hairs.
cool excellent tutorial. I'm having problems.. with the scale configuration when I export from cinema 4d to vectorworks.. when I open it in vectorworks it becomes huge
I try to avoid Cinema to Vectorworks if I can :) Cinema defaults to Centimeters, so something in the Units is messing you up when you import. Try adding a 1 meter cube to the cinema file before you export and then use Modify>scaling in VW to get things correct.
