I hope you're enjoying the first book! I would say that the first one is the best. I gave it 5 stars. The second is very good. I gave it 4 stars. I didn't like like third book. I only gave it 2 stars. You could definitely read the first book as a stand alone though if you wanted ☺

Your review is so nice. The words flow out of you nicely. I’m currently reading the book. I’m only a hundred and seventy pages in. It bugs me that nothing happened till now. I want to be intrigued and hooked already. That being said I am interested and want to read through it quickly to know what happens and what the story is about. I also cannot help but think of Jane Eyre while reading this novel. I think there are some similarities. 😉🤍

I haven't finished this yet. I finished the first part today, and I'm on to the second part. Honestly, when the little girl's part was over, I felt kind of lost. About a quarter to a third through the book, it felt like it was building to a satisfying climax. But after that climax, it's like another story goes on, and you have to get re-invested in it all over again. I'm going to keep reading, but it feels like the first part of the book could've and should've been a novel all to itself.

I really liked your review and video. I just finished this book myself on kindle unlimited. I agree that some bits were definitely a bit sensational and unrealistic! But it was a very captivating book overall. I was able to guess a lot of the plot points, but I don’t think it made it a bad book, because it’s encouraging to read more and then be rewarded with more information (and guessing things right sometimes!). It didn’t end how I expected it to, not sure now if I would have still wanted a different ending. Lastly, you mentioned really enjoying realistic thrillers and so I have a recommendation - The Last Resort by Heidi Perks best thriller I have probably ever read. 5 stars, I read it in like 3 days and was hooked, and it felt like a situation that could actually happen!

I am sorry to hear that how to solve your own murder was a fun concept but was actually disappointing in execution! I will skip over on this one instead... A shame about the dialogue and you're right, I would find it unbelievable that she wouldn't know not to do that, and then it didn't have any consequences either!

I love this book but I have to say the last story ruined the whole experience a bit for me. Spoilers! In the first story Clara felt so human to me and that made her death so sad, but after finishing the last story I just found myself not caring about her anymore for she is this immortal being. And at first, humans seemed to be suffering from their own actions but actually it turned out some extraterrestrial presence is to blame.

Lovely review for a lovely book! Like you I was a bit worried whether this new series would hold up to the TTMC and like you I thought it absolutely does. Richard Osman‘s humor is fabulous (the one about Steve and the private jet still has me chuckling) and sometimes laugh-out-loud funny. The only „drawback“ about WSM: Now I can‘t wait for the next installment to come out - just like with the TTMC series. 😉 Happy reading from tiny-town Austria, Monica 📚🐾 🐾
