One reason is GM created scarcity of parts this is simple supply and demand. Now a plastic bumper is worth $3k+ . GM needs to provide parts support for the cars to reduce the desirability of stealing for stripping for parts.

I feel for your dilemma but I fail to see how a car manufacturer especially one that doesn’t make cars anymore can be responsible 8 years on for scumbags stealing them. Maybe the govt could not be softcocks and put a bounty on car thieves heads…might bring the numbers down . If you don’t want your car stolen there are 5 basic practical things you can do to make it harder for the amateur car thief …..relocate your horn/wiring ….relocate or put some locking device on your obd port….get a bcm programming lock installed into the software …..instal some means of mechanical lock on the pedals /steering column . …..put your keys in a special place not easily seen when not in use. The bcm lock would be the most successful but it means the arseholes would have already trashed your door lock and got in by then….all this info is on this site if you do a search .

So they admit their car is so poorly designed some cheap device on Ebay can circumvent all security. They didnt learn from the VN ignition that could be broken by an unregulated screwdriver. Its almost like they want their vehicles stolen and destroyed so they can sell some more.

The biggest factor is that GMH cheaped out with the electronic architecture in the VF, pulling from the global parts bin, and cobbling the last model together like a cheap Lego set (electronically speaking). The components and systems they used were designed with the lowest cost as the priority, and functionality comes last. With these components/systems being common to global GM vehicles, it means there’s far more available on the aftermarket globally than there is for earlier models - like these more generic key programmers. The rest is just laziness or penny pinching on GM’s part. Think back to VL Calais, all the way to VE (and the LWB models from VQ) - the factory security system had an additional horn mounted high in the engine bay, where it couldn’t be easily disabled. This was in addition to the regular horns. They cut that cost on VF too…… I’d rather a better electronic system than a fancy screen with music streaming.

What a poor response. Who regulates big flat head screwdrivers? They're used for breaking into cars. Still manufacturers try to improve security. It's not about the tools used to break in. It's about closing off loop holes in the security system of products you built.

Thanks for this video. Sadly all the immobilizers and horn relocations in the world won't stop them towing the cars away. We've seen the videos of VFs being dragged up onto flatbeds and another where one was towed out of a storage unit. Sadly the justice system holds the key ..... harsh penalties for anyone stealing a car. Without support from the government this will continue until there are no VF V8s left in Australia. As for Holden - clearly the same level of support as when they were making cars here.

Well i don't own a VE/F, but i do own a Falcon FGX XR6 Sprint, i don't see any on the street, so on the occasion i do go out i remove a small relay from the fuse box in engine bay, not allowing the engine to start and put in my pocket, best i can do.👻

I saw on another channel that some people are doing a horn bypass set up. When the parasites reach in to cut the horn cable ( those of us in the know will know where that is located) it will set the horn alarm off still. What about a fuel cut off switch like we used years ago? Hide a switch some where and flick it off when needed.

Microdots… 10,000 of them mixed into invisible paint…. Placed randomly on core parts and panels… Uniquely coded and matched to your vehicle on Department of Transport computers. The Australian Governments need to first legislate to make microdots mandatory as a condition of registration. Within 2 years, 99% of registered vehicles could be microdotted and matched to vehicle registrations on government computers. Then State Governments need to direct Police and make it compulsory for them to conduct microdot checks at regular vehicle stops and when visiting wrecking yards. Perhaps science needs to develop a scanner capable of detecting and reading microdots on vehicles to make the police check process more efficient and faster. The scanners could be computer liked to the Government computers, to enable them to check online if the microdots match the vehicle registration. When new and second-hand spares are sold the seller must obtain photographic proof of the buyer’s identity. Retailers must upload additional codes for specific parts onto a vehicle’s registration… such as new brake calipers, diffs, engines and gearboxes etc. The system will only work if people demand the governments set it up, connect it to their computer systems, and provide the police with the equipment, instructions, and training to implement it nationally. There is little point to people getting their vehicles microdotted if police are not going to check for them and until police have the tools to read them.

I almost brought one of these things a few years before Holden closed I'm glad I didn't after seeing all the thefts now

My mechanic has made me a fix. He's relocated the OBD2 port and hidden it. He's also modified the port and rewired a unique connector on it. He has made a jumper cable that fits the unique connector on one end and an obd2 connector on the other end. To connect any obd2 device you will need the cable.

Get a bcm lock from OBDSync. Also do your own Horn relocation.

My Maloo R8 was stolen and turned into a stripped tin can in late December 24. If Holden isn't sued in yet another class action over this design flaw that allows the horn to be disabled from the outside of the vehicle I'll be shocked. I paid $100K for that car and to have such a ridiculous design where the alarm can be disabled so easily is clearly a design flaw and a disgrace. I got a good insurance payout but it wont bring back my car which was one of the last Maloo's built...the 8th last Maloo R8 built in fact. Holden need to be held to account over this.

EVs are for people who don’t appreciate the symphony of a V8 or other performance engine. EVs are far dirtier especially after the battery is gone and Lithium with other bad chemicals ends up in land fill. Casanova Bowen can shove his EV mandate where the sun don’t shine.

I think many late cars are susceptible to being stolen due to key fob programming. Your videos in my view has definitely caused traction how to take precautionary measures. I'm sure many VF owners (including my mate with a VF SS) have now installed ghost immobiliser kits, coupled with cop lock, steering locks, GPS tracking etc.

One important tip to add. If you are in a cold climate, the plastic can be very brittle. Park in the sun for a bit to get it warm, or go for a drive first.

As an early GenF GTS owner (Nov 2013). I love my GTS it was my daily driver until Aug 2022 and race car (continuing). Daily drive duties have been taken over by a Kia EV6 AWD. They are both very good cars. From my driving and race experience, if I am driving my GTS beyond what the EV6 can do, I shouldn't be doing it on the road. The GTS has more power, and can push harder, but the AWD of the EV6 means it can get all its' power to the road, while I have to be judicious with the GTS to not just make smoke.

Okay electric vehicle owners do some research on how long does it take to extinguish an electric vehicle if it catches on fire. We know it doesn’t take more than a half hour to put out a combustion vehicle. But electric vehicles can’t be extinguished and all the fire fighters can do is watch and make sure it doesn’t spread anywhere else.

My 6L80 transmission is playing up in my 2011 VE SSV. I really need to take it to a transmission place for them to look at it. Might do it in the next few weeks.

🇦🇺😎👍Back of the 80s there was a lot of GTs , GTSs , SS Toranas, LS Monaros , Chargers , GTR XU1s , lots if Mazda RX2 , RX3 , RX4 some RX7s.. Lots of Holdens and Fords of all types. Lots and lots of panel vans decked out and plenty of women in the back. There was a very healthy motorbike culture. One pub on Thursday nite would have anywhere up to 40 plus bikes out the front . Road bikes mainly and from my memory the streets were full of cars all the way round town with lots of men and women of all ages congregating. Back then Ipswich ROCKED 🏁. The nite clubs rocked , and the drive in closed about 10.30 and everyone headed into town for a race from lights to lights 🏁. Ipswich LapZ went 7 days a week . The main nites were Thursday, Friday and Saturday nites . That was back in the days of plenty of prosperity. Ipswich had alot of heavy industry. Lots of money to burn
