This channel is dedicated to uploading videos of Katas and a little bit of training I like to do from my classes I teach. For example, certain drills or techniques I have learnt over the years. By no means am I saying that this is how it should be done, this is my personal variation. I hope the videos can help people and offer some inspiration to anyone starting their journey 🙏🥋
Shotokan Ryu Kase Ha - Chinte - 珍手
I can't emphasise enough how much this is my favourite kata. The rooting, the breathing, the depth, the flow, the bunkai options. There are so many things I love about this kata, and it feels like it suits me, moulded with it, I suppose.
This kata is very unique, in the sense that it includes techniques not seen in many other kata. The attitude of the kata is that of calmness, building into chaos, then back to calmness, almost like waves of the ocean crashing.
Many high-level Japanese sensei believed the kata to be very technical and sophisticated.

A #core concept of #taijikase was breathing and rooting. Here, I demonstrate a couple of kihon drills you can use to develop this. I also use #shotokankaratekata to help. The two kata are #heiangodan and #chinte . Two of my favourites, especially Chinte. #shotokan #karate #japanmartialarts #karatelife #karateformentalhealth

A little tribute video to Kase Ha Shotokan. Training drills I've been taught, shown, and use myself. Focusing on many principles from Taiji Kase Sensei such as breathing, rooting, 0 to 100.... To finish Ten No Kata, a super important and very effective kata for developing your #karate #japanesemartialarts #shotokankarate #kasehashotokanryu #blackbelt #karatelife #martialarts #budokarate

Kase Ha Shotokan is so fascinating! I'm glad I stumbled upon your channel!
Thank you, I'm glad you enjoy it and take the time to watch it 🥋⛩️ What do you train, if I may ask ? 🥋⛩️
Im very interested in kase ha do you practice kumite
Yes, I do, sometimes pre arranged and sometimes free sparring, I think there are a couple of videos on the channel, little highlights etc 😀
Dear Sensei, what kind of stand You are using😮? I know similar form, yes, but only done in Zenkuchu Dachi. Could You help me please 🙏 ? Thanks a lot and Oss...;-)-...!
Hello, thank you for asking, so it's Fudo Dachi. Fudo Dachi is 50% Zenkutsu dachi going forward and 50% kiba dachi, roughly at least 😅. It's a strong dance but also great for moving in multiple directions, as opposed to almost getting stuck in some stances at a finish point 🥋⛩️
It's probably the most used stance in the Kase Ha method of Shotokan Karate 🥋⛩️
So is it Sachin Dachi? Or Sochin Dachi? Or, to be honest didn't understand till this very day: Are Sochin- and Sanchin-Dachi the same stance...? Just to explain my background: I am coming from Shotokan as well, but Kanazawa school (SKI-Federation). But always interested to learn different varieties of our style...! Like O-Sensei said: "Karate is one!"So thanks againforTour appreciated answer...;-)- Oss!
@SeishinKarateHM329 Ooo, I didn't see Your answer, before "answering" myself (sorry+ thank you...;-)- Oss!
Oss!
Oss, hope your training is going well 🥋💪
@@SeishinKarateHM329 oss! Sure is 🫡 we are going to participate in the SKIF European assembly next week 🥳 i love how karate helps you travel the world
@Shotokan_Greenland oss that's great. I hope you have a great time, and definitely, I'm heading back out to Belfast soon to train and teach, and I hope to visit some new places next year 🥋⛩️🙏
Why use sochin data and not start with zenkutsu. Stance is as wide as your shoulders...thats why you have difficulty in moving and have a short punch range. You are strong but can improve on it with correct composure. Unless you learn differently in your particula4 group sochin is similar to kiba with weibht distrubution 50/50 and feet parralel.
1) I use fudo dachi, different from zenkutsu dachi. Fudo dachi is 50% zenkutsu 50% kiba dachi 2) I have no difficulty in moving, and as far as I can see, there is no difficulty in the video. Again, fudo dachi makes it easier to move 3) Yes, in Kase Ha Shotokan fudo dachi becomes the prominent stance as it has many benefits. Like all stances, they have their benefits and usefulness. 4) My punch range is an interesting one 🤔 in zenkutsu dachi it wouldn't be much different. 5) My composure is also an interesting one to comment on... 🤔 But I appreciate the time you've taken to comment and watch it. I hope this reply helps 😊⛩️🥋
@@SeishinKarateHM3291. Mentioning Kase I want to remember many moons ago he did change his fudo/sochin to the wya you do. Let me explain where I come from and i have trained with a number of groups....all did the same thimg...zenkutsu weight distribution is 60/40 F/B - attacking stance. Kokutsu is 70/30 B/F, kiba id 40/50. To ge to sochin you "turn" your zentkutsu into a kiba da 50/50 and feet facing +- 30% of centre. HIPS 45DEGREES - NOT FACING FLAT FORWARD.EXCEPT FOR KIBA AND GOKUTSU STANCES ARE AS WIDE AS YOUR AS YOUR SHOULDERS....THAT IS IF YOU DRAW A PARRALEL LINE. From what i observe your stances are "much" wider than this. Sochin dachi is not a wide stance. At the risk of being arrogant....if you work on yourmstance your karate will be strongsr and you can be faster. Try the option agais t bags and see if it wòrks for you. Reme er the wider the stance the easier it is to legsweep you and the more difficult to prime your kicks correctly. From your sochin do an ushiro and check, wheremyour leg goes. Enjoynthe thraining - still the best there is. ster.t
@ToastSoon4808 Again, as stated, I'm not using sochin dachi. I'm using Fudo Dachi, which is an equal distribution of weight. I practice against bags quite often, and again, every stance is useful, I've stated that, for me, fudo dachi works great, it's well balanced for attacking and defending. And the wider the stance the easier to sweep is an interesting observation, not sure that's quite how that works, as it depends on the participants, the situation but again closed views are always fun and interesting to read. The kicking again, when done properly, is not a problem in Fudo Dachi. But again I've stated enough that I use fudo dachi not sochin dachi. Two different stances, but each observation to their own... oss 🥋👍
Execution with soshin dachi
That is Fudo dachi I use, but yes you can use any stance and play around with it 🥋⛩️

Plenty of grappling in karate, but bjj is great to for when you're on the floor 🤔😝...... but in all seriousness, karate has plenty of grappling techniques and bjj I respect and have trained a few sessions In it before and loved it, that and judo I thought were great and complementary to my karate 🥋😊

What stance is this called? Your stance is very strong
Thank you for your kind words. It is called Fudo Dachi - translates to immovable stance, although it can be very fluid in movement, it is a signature stance of the Kase Ha style of Shotokan by Taiji Kase 🥋😊

Who punches like that in a real fight ?
It's a drill used to develop certain aspects and skills. If you think that's how karate would punch in a 'real fight' you haven't quite got the idea of karate 😊🥋
