Also the shield was going to be a privy on the Silver, which is a nice idea. And hey, another silver coin for them to add the marvelous detail of milkspotting to.
From the email with respect to the Shield Sov (which would ihave Charlie Three on the front) "Collectors will also be able to purchase historic sets that bring together a 2025 Sovereign with a historic 1825 Sovereign featuring the Royal Arms design, as well as a historic set that brings together five Sovereigns struck for His Majesty King Charles III." So is it part of a set? Looks like bullion sovs in the image.
@@dleetr not to sure, but if the other historic sets the mint has put together in the past they will have some stupid price tag that will be most people off, but having a 1825 and 2025 together would be cool.
Nice to see a new shield sovereign but I’m not a fan of rose gold. I’m going to give this one a miss and see how the new alloy is-I would have snapped up this design if it was yellow gold, what a missed opportunity.
Yes, they should have done the Shield and all the coins in the new alloy. Rather than 'giving them the opportunity to get the "last rose gold Sov". urgh,
From Australia, 1871 onwards all Australian colony issues Sydney, Melbourne and Perth and subsequent to 1901 Federation of nation all were 22 carat gold alloyed with copper. Only the Sydney mint types 1855 through to 1866 or 1870 were alloyed with silver due to limited refining capacity.
I’m interested in purchasing two silver sovereigns, but only if they’re in bullion form, along with two of the new 2025 gold sovereigns once they switch from the rose gold editions. I’m no longer interested in proof coins from the Royal Mint. I also avoid buying more than two or three silver Britannias per year due to concerns about milk spotting, VAT and the excessive profit seeking nature of the royal mint.
@@user-ul3so3me8s I doubt the silver ones will be released in silver bullion, but I would avoid the proof silver ones especially at these prices. As in the standard gold sovereign opposed to the shield version? VAT is such a killer, one of the main reasons I don't buy silver.

@@iby914 I think a lot of people are happy about that. For the silver in not too sure would make sense if it was 1oz otherwise would be a small coin of sovereign sized
Adding the minuscule amount of silver and pulling back on the copper (there still is copper in the golden coloured sovs) to the blend won't impact the cost in a noticeable manner. Whether they decided to start charging an higher premium, is up to their level of chutzpah, heh.
I think the only older Sovereign that was mixed with just silver was the 1887 jubilee .. the others just had a mix of copper and silver added ..
