    Well you turn the fancy coin accepter into an old style coin-mech, you could just cut a slot in a piece of wood and put the switch on the bottom for cheap. The coin accepter must have the same ground as the receiving device (PCB, computer) or as stated one maybe floating way above ground and ground is the reference. If a device is low powered (brown out), digital switching happen within 1-3V range 0v being low, 5v being high. Devices can be a pull high or pull low to indicate activity. Coin-mech's are a pull low (ground) to activate and so are action buttons. Tie the two grounds together to have the same ground reference voltage. (hope no noise or ground loop issues) 12v runs lighting and hold coils but switches run on TTL 5V (or less today for 3.3V MCUs)

      100 percent correct! Thanks for watching. I appreciate the insight too. I'm always learning. Yes it's a glorified coin chute at this point but my cab already came with it. I don't know how to tech out if there are any ground loop issues but since it was connected both to the USB of the PC (5v) and a separate 12v power supply plugged into the same power strip. I can only gather that those two grounds aren't bonded even though they should be. I just now thought of trying to power it via the same ATX power supply that is supplying the PC. I'd like to think that those two grounds are bonded. A lot of people reported them working sporadically and causing weird behavior with their USB keyboard encoders. I imagine caused by mixed voltages sharing the same ground that isn't bonded with the USB PC ground. Adding the switch was the cheapest quickest fix. It's way overthinking at this point but it's more about the learning and exploring for me and these principals do transfer to other applications.

    I kind of regret not getting a cutout in my control panel for a stream deck now. Granted it would be yet another thing to set up on my arcade and I really don't need that in my life right now, but it would be nice.

    • @TheLivingArcade
      @TheLivingArcade 4 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Thanks for watching! Yeah it would be nice but then it's another thing to always be messing with instead of playing haha. I wish there was a way I could share built profiles but everyone's setup is so different and it wouldn't really help them

    I have an arcade1up cabinet, is there a way at i can use a stream deck on it??

    • @TheLivingArcade
      @TheLivingArcade 11 วันที่ผ่านมา

      you can if you mod it with a windows PC. Similar to the raspberry pi mods out there. You don't need anything super powerful. I'm running a used dell optiplex with a gt1030 super low spec GPU. These can be found within the $150 range used everywhere. Look up what HDMI driver board you would need for your a1up to connect it to the internal monitor and you would need an amplifier for the speakers

    • @TreFKennedy
      @TreFKennedy 11 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@TheLivingArcade thank you, would a mac book be as capable as a dell?

    • @TheLivingArcade
      @TheLivingArcade 11 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I have not used a macbook in that manner. I do know that launchbox, which I heavily rely on, for many of the features I pointed out in this video does not work on mac. But there are other alternative front ends available. If you already own one, give it a shot! The main principle is using software that has shortcuts that do things and mapping those shortcuts conveniently to the streamdeck buttons. Be aware that mac security at times, doesn't play well with other software and hardware triggering key presses and running applications. Needing permissions ETC. Hold off on purchasing a streamdeck and just try getting a front end running on that macbook and playing games. then go from there

    4:50 are you sure? The white one looks ever so slightly smaller than the Kowal Oversized actuator. Or Is it just a camera perspective thing?

    • @TheLivingArcade
      @TheLivingArcade 14 วันที่ผ่านมา

      You are correct. It was my mistake that was pointed out after I posted this. It was so long ago I put the kowol oversized in the reference JLF that I totally forgot it was in there and referred to it as the original factory in this video. You can see I pinned the comment. I like the newer red oversized actuator from the new "mod kit" performance wise but I hate the feel. The new white actuator from the factory JLX is amazing. I believe it's delrin but I can't confirm. Whatever it is, it glides in the gate. It feels more solid. Would be heaven if someone made an oversized in that material.
