Fantastic job Tim! 😁👍 Glad to see you could already put their present to use. Happy wrenching my friend 🔧
Thanks Zane. It was nice to break up the mechanical work with a different kind of job.
That turned out great. I might have to steal that idea.
Thanks! I'm planning on having the seats made in the same color vinyl by my daughter. By all means, steal my idea. That's one of the reasons I post videos.
I visited your channel and watched some videos, the content is very impressive. But due to video optimization problems with your channel, the video is not getting viral and views, likes, and comments. Your Problems need to be fixed.
I had one of these years ago. We converted it to a hunting buggy. Mostly all original. Took the bed off…built a flat bed and added a bus seat on a welded platform that put you seated above the cab. Added a set of oversized tires and rims. We would take it to the woods deer hunting. Loved that thing!
It's looking and sounding really great!
Thanks! I have been watching the progress on your truck, especially the body work. You're moving right along and giving me a good sneak peak of what I have in store when I start working on the body.
Looks amazing man! Great work and good video. Thank you.
Thanks! I'm happy with how things are coming together, but this was the easy part. Body repair will be the real challenge with paint removal, dent fixes and rust repair. Thanks for watching. Stay tuned for more progress.
Engine sounds great Tim! 😁👍 I'm happy to see how far you've got, can't wait to see the wheels cleaned up. Happy wrenching my friend 🔧
Yes, it's running nicely. I'm anxious to move on to the body next. I think it will be more work than the frame and engine. Thanks for your encouragement Zane.
I really am enjoying your series. If imitation is the sincerest for of flattery you should be feeling good about yourself right now as I've copied a number of your suggestions with my 55 Willys pickup project.
I appreciate it. I'm glad you're finding the videos entertaining and useful. I'm no expert by any stretch, but I'm learning a lot as I go. I too pick up lots of good info from others who are documenting their projects. I hope you're having as much fun on your project as I'm having with mine. Thanks for watching!
Great video. New subscriber
I appreciate it. I'm currently working on a 1949 Willys pickup. I've got a bunch of videos up on my channel on that project if you want to follow along.
I have always love these red engines. The sound and the way they work! Good old school engines. I miss my 1978 Scout II
Very nice truck
Thanks! I drive it every chance I get in the spring, summer and fall.
Arnt you supposed to put Rvt on those seals ?
I always put a light coat of Permatex Indianhead around the outside of the seal, but nothing on the inside of the seal that mates up with the crank. The manufacturer of the seal specifically says "do not put oil or any other material on the seal to crank portion of the seal.
That would make a really cool door to a shed, compressor room etc.
Id keep it incase i ever got rear ended by a semi or high pickup/suv
My grandpa worked for international back in the day ❤
Is it a 68?
My truck is a 67. That tailgate fits C series 61-68 and maybe some earlier models.
😂👍
Nice job Tim! 😁👍 Glad to see you're making progress 🔧
Thanks, Zane! Slow but steady.
This is nothing about a replacement nobody gives a fuck about your new truck bed stupid waste of time
Great video sir very informational!!! 🤘🔥🤘🔥🤘
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it.
After watching your innovative way of using those hub assemblies I'm kicking myself. Not long ago I changed the rear hub assemblies on my daughter's Pontiac Vibe. After the old ones sat in my scrap for several months I hauled them off in a load of scrap iron. I wish I had kept them. I could use them to move my 8 X 12 shed to another location. Doh!
Looks good. I'll be stealing that wooden block tube straightener idea when I'm ready to start on my breaks.
"Please stop pronouncing my name ' willies'." - John Willys.
Very informational and helpful information...thanks for doing this series.
Glad you found the video useful. Stay tuned, there is still a lot of work to do before thus truck hits the road.
Glad to see you had help Tim 😁👍 I have worked on older stuff before and even I didn't know they done the studs that way. Good to know! Mistakes happen my friend. Nice to see you could find all the parts you needed. Happy wrenching to ya 🔧🔩
I can't even count the number of times I have broken things while taking them apart due to lack of knowledge.
I bought an restored an old Elliot Progress Junior no12. Its a very simple drill press and just like yours, it has no lifting mechanism but its very rigid and solid. This is a very good idea because the just the table unit is quite heavy. So me being quite young it hasnt cause any problems yet by lifting it up and down manually, but i could see that it could easily crush a finger or two if it dropped accidentally. Thank you for this idea
Amazing work sir! Your clean work is an inspiration!
Thanks! I really appreciate the comment.
I have the same one where can I find that seat I need one lol same teal color
I wasn't able to track down teal seat covers either. If you look closely at the thumbnail for my video, you will notice I went with black covers. They actually look pretty good. I got them on eBay pretty cheap.
@@TheToolmanTim nothing like the oem color tho lol
Nice original Kaufman Sorels!!
Good eye. I'm surprised at the things people spot in my videos that have nothing to do with the subject. I wear those Sorels every day in the winter. Can't beat them for comfort and warmth.
On the custom radiator hoses… have an exhaust shop make the funky bends with exhaust tubing, then flare to the larger size, then it is just 2 shorty hoses needed!! I did same on a Scout rad to a Mopar 318!!
@14:30 You put the valley pan gasket down DRY???? Really?
Go back and look again. I had a thin coat of black RTV on the block and the gasket. Both sides were coated.
Fun tip for the water tubes and water neck and thermo riser… after clean up and soaking in Phos… paint the INSIDES with brake caliper paint, then oven cure. You now have a ceramic lining and now immune to rust!!
That is a great idea. Especially considering how expensive replacement tubes are.
Cool truck!
great-looking truck
Looks fantastic all shined up Tim 😁👍 Sometimes you get lucky with older batteries. Happy wrenching my friend 🔧🔩
It's funny because it never fails to start the truck easily, but it always tests out as "poor" on my load tester. I should probably keep some jumper cables behind the seat just in case.
Like how it turns over
New starter last year probably has a lot to do with that.
Mine is way worse as far as the front rack the plastics suck the headlight is the dimmest light I’ve ever seen. No air filter no electric start. No brakes either. Paid $175 for it tho. Not running. Got it running fairly quick. It will idle fine but it bogs down a little when first taking off.
These things are built tough and pretty simple to fix. You'll have a bit of change in all the parts you need to get it working right, but it will run forever if you take care of it.
Where did you get this grinder?
Harbor Freight el-cheapo grinder. I think it cost less than $20. It's not great, but it got the job done.
Thank you !! Another question,About how long did it take to cut each bolt and do you know what kind of blade i would need
@@felixpalomo5348 I probably spent 5 minutes on each bolt. Any abrasive disk should do the trick. I just used the ones that came with my grinder.
*Awesome job on the bracket fabrication Tim!* 😁👍 I would have added the gusset as well, just for extra assurance. Good call on the alternator upgrade. Looks perfect all dressed up with the belt on. Bravo my friend! 🔧🔩
Thanks Zane! It's funny, my brother called today to tell me he was thinking I ought to put in some extra support when he saw that mount in the video before I added the gusset. Well, there are at least three great minds thinking alike.
Nice job!!
I appreciate the comment. In about a month we'll be planting in the garden for our 5th year. It's still holding up well and only needs a little touch up here and there on the paint. Our vegetables have done really well every year and have not been bothered by animals.
Love the music!!
Thanks. I had a lot of fun picking out music for this video.
Looks awesome
Thanks! I ran that setup for a while and then replaced the air tank with a brand new 60 gallon vertical tank. Same pump and motor though. It takes up a lot less floor space now.
Slick idea!! Gonna try this on my Craftsman drill press.
Go for it! Mine is still working great. Thanks!
Is that a Daisy Red Ryder BB gun over the door?
Yes, it is. Good eye. I got it for my birthday when I was 10 or 11. It still works, but shoots so weakly that I can see the BB come out and drop to the ground about 30 feet away.
Should have used brass and brazed it!!!!
Ooh the advantage of having a yard full of florida trucks that i can rob parts off from ..lol The truck i drive was in michigan 3 years , it took its toll on it ..reese hitch is the first thing that rusted out , kind of scaried me , it went through 3 round style ( reese style frame mount ) hitches in 334,000 miles ..
That's life in the great white north. I don't think most people, including me, inspect their hitches very often. It's a good idea to take a look at the undercarriage now and then.
I own the same press here in California. Its a wonderful machine. Ive spent years looking for the 60 ton model. Very rare.
I forgot to mention, not all of them came with the high speed option. Really great find.
Finding this press was really a fluke. I was in the market for a hydraulic press and this screw press showed up at a local auction, so I jumped on it. I'm very happy with it so far. I haven't run across any job it couldn't handle with ease. I had no idea they made a 60 ton. That thing must be huge!
@@TheToolmanTim I cant believe it, my family has been looking for a 60T Weaver press for 3 generations and we finally found one. Brought it home yesterday. My father and i saw it on CL almost at the same time :)
Fantastic job Tim! 😁👍 I always enjoy the stop motion footage as well. I know that would take a while to film. Nice to see you give Chris at WD a shoutout! 🔧 I like his videos too 😁👍
Thanks Zane! Stop motion does slow down the work on a project, but it's fun to include the footage occasionally.
It's looking great!
Thanks! Cleaning up that frame kicked my butt. I didn't show all the crawling under and hours at the wire wheel. I'm glad it's done now.
