I wish I watched this before trying my brakes didn’t twist and push and seized the fuck out of my caliper, $400 later I install it tomorrow from this video thanks 😂
Dang man. I hope the install goes well for you
I did mine and it’s pissing fuel.
Installer error. Where is it pissing fuel? Up top? If so, you probably installed the LPFP seal wrong. I did that once on my E46 M3. Turned the car on after install, fuel spilling everywhere in the cabin. I put the seal on incorrectly. Fixed it. No more pissing fuel.
@@JacesOwnWorld brought it back. They’re working on it.
@maveric0738 good stuff 🤙
Yo my Alfa Romeo 159 2007 has this function
Cool!
Hi,found your video looking for info on valve cover gasket leaks. I have oil residue in all four spark plug holes, but I've managed to avoid misfires and other codes by pulling my plugs and cleaning them. On the bucking, my car did something like you describe. If you still have the problem and haven't done so yet, I suggest inspecting the bushing in the front subframe. After many autocross runs and for some runs, torque brake launching, the top bushing half was completely torn. When I removed the subframe, the top literally fell out of the subframe.
i just started having this issue for about a week or 2 now, not at light throttle like you. and im glad i found this video! i will try this. hopefully thats the fix!!!
Also check your charcoal canister
@@JacesOwnWorld and just change the filter in that canister if anything? what is the process on taking care of that canister?
@stasKZ yes, change the filter in the canister.
Good luck! I might have missed it in the video but what's it cost for a new motor like you're describing?
After tax + shipping, a new long block will range from $5-6k. There are Euro EA888.3 motors that are sold on AliExpress that others have bought, for like $1500-2500, but now that those Chinese sellers have caught when that people want those motors, they are charging more. So for what they are charging now, I don’t want to take that risk. A used OEM motor, with like 60k miles on it costs around $6-7k after tax and shipping. So I figured buying a new long block is the better option
@ yea I agree, more work but the peace of mind of having a new motor

yep, replace those mounts. That's a bit of miles. Looking forward to the tear down.
Yeah I will. Just another few hundred bucks 😭
I hate VW Dealers. First diesel gate now this. My GTI is the replacement for my TDi which I loved....VW Dealership here Vancouver b.c. are a bunch of Nazis. Super-Arrogant they are a parody of German ness. Just got my recall for this suction jet issue, VW its never convient.
TDI’s are sweet. Which TDI vehicle did you have? Yeah, VW dealers are just the worst.
Jace have you figured it out I’m having the same issue with my car literally 5 stage 2 clutches now I’m on stage 3
The tob/slave failed
I have the stage 2 and it just failed this is going to be my next clutch but now I’m rethinking it
@JadenSupreme0 how much power are you running?
@ I’m running IE stage 2 which is 343 hp 400 lbs tq
@JadenSupreme0 with that power level, you don’t need a Stage 3 clutch. I run a Sachs Performance clutch w/DMF now, and I’m IS38 custom tuned on WMI. It holds this power just fine. I recommend this clutch or go Ringer Racing.
Congrats on passing the 1k subscriber mark! I don't think you were there the last time I visited. I recently had the recall done, just as a precaution. With 237,000 miles on the clock, I figured I'd accept a free part. ;-) You're right about their service. I NEVER get good service on the phone. My service advisor is very polite and courteous when I visit in person. I had been taking my wife's 2018 Jetta to the dealer to be absolutely certain that the generous 6-year/72k warranty was honored. These days, I visit only for state inspections and this recent warranty. Anyway, the point of me posting, the advisor didn't answer when I called to schedule the recall appointment. Instead, the front desk took the car. Her first question was "Did you buy the car here?" Well, I hadn't because the exact car I wanted was the only one of its kind in the entire region. Everyone knows that the best deal is had at the shop with the product in hand. She went on to give me some BS about how the parts were on backorder due to the port strikes. She took down my info and said she'd call when the parts arrive. I immediately called the dealer where I bought the car, which is 70 mile away. They ordered the parts and got me in the next week, even though the car had not been back to them for anything during the past eight years. Some dealers are good; some are not. Later, I learned that this "front desk" woman was not at the dealership, but at the "main office" for the entire franchise (all brands, I mean). Sorry for the rant; just wanted to share. I need to make a video about it. Take care! -Scott
Thanks! That’s such bad service from that dealer. Glad you went back to the dealership where you bought your GTI, and that they took care of you. Sometimes miles driven is worth it!
The suction pump recall states VW needs two hours plus to do this job. And with the recall notice they include a reimbursement form i case you incurr any additional charges the dealership won't cover.
2hrs is a lot. The car doesn’t need to be lifted up, which takes away time. All they have to do is remove rear seat, remove LPFP, remove old suction pump, install new suction pump, and reinstall LPFP and back seat. This is a 1hr with me doing it in my garage, with me taking me time.
Hard to see in video, does the wrap go all the way to the glass past the brake light or is it stopped above the brake light?
Yes
Hey man, how is this permatex holding up ? thinking abutting using the permatex right stuff black for my 16 Passat 1.8t R line, saw other videos of guys using permatex anerobic and them repeating the job 2 years later in the comments
My GTI’s motor seized up, so it’s currently down until I buy a new motor here in the next few months. Besides that though, the permatex held up perfect. I had zero leaks. Easy 60-70k miles in the motor with the permatex, before the motor seized. No leaks. You just need to do the job right the first time. Sometimes people use it and either don’t apply enough, apply too much, or don’t let it sit for 24hrs before driving the car. It’s almost always user error, or something else on the motor, that causes it to leak again.
I'm doing this install soon myself as my HPFP is failing (mk7.5 gti full bolt on IS38 stg2 93oct) thanks so much for this video! Gives me more confidence I can do this job myself vs letting a shop do it several hundred dollars later
I’ve been dealing with this bucking issue for the last 6 months on my Audi A3. From what I gathered this becomes a common issue when that oil seepage gets into the plug galleys on the EA888.3s. How the two correlate is beyond me, I just spent a week doing the reseal on the valve/cam ladder (im not a mechanic) to no success. This is huge!! Thank you so much!!!
It could also be due to a saturated evap canister.
All metal throw out bearing are TRASH!!!!
Agreed
So make up your mind, .32 or .23! Also, when you were checking the coils with the VOM meter, would have been helpful to know which pins you were connecting. Thanks
Thanks. I’ll wait for your video that you’re making to show the correct way.
Can I just replace that filter element instead of hundreds for a new canister? Does anyone know that filter size and type of ao

My names Jace and I’ve got a mk7 aswell 🤯
Haha cool
Hi Jace! It's December '24 and this started happening last week to my 2015 GTI that has 79.5k miles. My husband told me to keep filling up the reservoir with coolant until I can get it into the VW dealership for repair in a few days. I really appreciate this video and your helping me understand what's going on with my car as well as anticipating a ballpark range for what the car repair could potentially cost. Thanks so much for making this video and helping people like me who know nothing about repairs. I learned something today!
You’re welcome! Glad I could help a little bit. Yes, keep the coolant reservoir filled. Your husband is right. 🤙
How much did the motor set you back? 🤑
I haven’t bought it yet, but it’s looking like with the motor + shipping + all other tools/gaskets/fluids/parts, it’s going to be about $5500-6300. It all depends on what deals I can find. So, it’s not cheap. But, it’s a lot less than a shop rebuild and/or other car motors. I’ll have an awesome GTI that should last a very long time.
Just did this today and wanna say thank you for this video it helped me a ton! Also for anyone going to do it I tried everything and ended up having to take the bolts out of the alternator out just to get the ground. I still have the headlight flickering with my 1200 watt rms amp so thinking maybe my alternator is getting weak. Heard a lot of bad things about the power bastards so unsure on whether to just bite the bullet or maybe see if the 180amp golf r will bolt right up. Either way thanks for all the detailed videos that nobody else is covering. Hope you get yours back on the road soon!
You’re welcome! Glad my video helped you out! Yeah, you need to remove the alternator to get to the bolt in the back of it. I too was a little reluctant of Power Bastards, but all of the bad reviews I read of them were from years ago. So I gave them a shot and the alternator worked just fine. The Golf R alternator should be a direct bolt on.
Thanks for this video bro very informative
I appreciate you watching!
My clutch did the same thing, but no leaks and my fluids are all at level. I pumped the pedal a bit and got a little but if pressure and was able to drive it. Bleed the line and now its driving fine. Any ideas?
Your tob/slave could possibly be on its way out. Either that or your master cylinder could also be on its way out. Hard to really tell unless something failed.
Yes they will cost £1000 plus labour 😜😜
I was in your position a year ago. I ended up getting a used motor. The reason why the mk7 gti is more expensive than the mk7.5 gti is because of the sai that's required for the 15-17 gti for emissions. You can do a full swap of the 7.5 just make sure you use the ecu from the newer motor. The used mk7 gti motors are not worth the price vs mileage. The cheapest one i found was like 5k with like 90k miles. You can swap a 2.0t ea888 from an 19+ atlas that is literally a direct sawp without messing with timing or tuning for way less with way less miles. All the specs are the same as the mk7 gti just without the sai. You can also use the stock ecu from the mk7 you'll just have to tune out the sai and make sure you code out the cel for the sai codes.
Wow, I didn’t know that. So the MK7.5 GTI’s don’t come with SAI? That doesn’t bother me anyways because I deleted my SAI in my MK7 GTI a while ago. I had my tuner tune it out too. So I wouldn’t need a MK7.5 ECU. I could just reuse my MK7 ECU because it’s all tuned out already. Oh dang, I didn’t know the 2019+ Atlas used the same motor too. I’ll look that up. Thanks! And yeah, the used motors are expensive for MK7’s! Too expensive for my taste.
@JacesOwnWorld yeah i done a ton of research on the motor spec before i made the decision to try it. No one has done it before, so i can tell you that its doable cause i did it. I took the time and money to try it. The only difference that i ran into when doing the swap was the sai and you need to put in a pilot bearing for the dsg trans cause the atlas cones with the 8 speed auto trans. The atlas motors do have a bit more hp i think it was 235 instead of the 220 so with the is38 would probably work better with this motor.
If you want the spec, i can send it to you so you can see for yourself.
Mine is 6spd manual, so would I need to worry about the pilot bearing? Also, once the engine is tuned, the stock power becomes irrelevant. An IS38 Golf R motor would output the same as an IS38 on the GTI motor. They’re the same motor with a few bits that are different inside. But those bits don’t contribute to the power potential of the motor.
Yeah, send me the spec please
100% used motor. I think spending more upfront will likely save more money in the long run.
Thanks for your input bud
Congrats on new car it's better have a daily and fix up ggi I do the same thing I got the f150 Ecoboost, look forward to build
Thanks bud! F150 Ecoboosts are sweet!
The dealer currently has mine over the recall. My gas hand doesnt work its stuck on half empty most days..is there a correaltion with this and the recall? I would assume there is because my gas hand started having issues as soon as the suction pump did.
Yes. This part should fix that
I had a whole ordeal about 2/3 years ago regarding that part which is finally being recalled. My GTI started refusing fuel and would leak out the back a little. My car had about 53k miles and was still under warranty so they fixed it. It was a headache though, it took two trips and a month to get it fixed. In hindsight, I think you’re right about Volkswagen not wanting to fix the part under warranty unless it has failed. Except mine had failed already and I told them that’d I read online about the car having this part fail in previous years. The 2015-2016’s were recalled for the same thing. I was always worried that it would fail again, so I took it to get fixed again for the recall. I’m at 92K miles now, so 🤞
I don’t understand why VW would hate fixing this issue to the point of not allowing owners to get it replaced unless it failed already. It’s such an easy job. As fast as an oil change. I was just turned off on the fact that I made an appt and then when I came in for that appt, they said they would need my car for a few days. That turned me off big time. I’ve never had this happen with any other brand I’ve owned after making an appt. It’s just bad customer service all around, and this kind of service from VW even happened before COVID too. The only good service I’ve had with VW was when I had my IS20 turbo blow near Reno, NV while traveling to Tahoe from SLC, UT, for a family reunion. Turbo blew, had a tow truck pick the car up and tow it to local VW dealer in Reno, NV. I immediately had a service guy come out when I showed up on the tow truck. He looked it over, took it in immediately, checked it out, ran codes, and said it needed a new turbo and they could have it fixed the next day! If that dealership could fix that big of a job in a days time, why does my local dealer say they would need my car for a few days for a job that would take less than an hour??? So ridiculous
Sucks to hear about your experiences. For every SBC S3 failure video I can find one for Sachs performance clutch it seems. I've seen less SBC S2 Daily fail videos vs S3 for some reason, but it really seems like a crap shoot.
It’s true. I’ve seen more forum posts of the SB S3’s failing over the S2’s. But really, it’s not the actual clutch that fails. It’s the ton/slave that fails almost every single time. But because SB includes them in their kits, I have to put the blame on SB.
Hi there, when I choose IDE00396 mine shows a % not a Volts, any ideas please? Thanks
I don’t know what’s going on with that. It should show volts not %
For the sake of the Turbo waiting 10 K to change your your oil seems to me to be a real risky policy ?
You can call it risky, but I know a lot more others who had turbo’s fail even with 3-5k oil changes. The point is there is no data to prove your questions claim. My IS38 has been custom tuned its entire life of over 130k miles, and zero issues with my choice of oil intervals.
I just had my call done for this on my 2019 VW sportswagon and the smell of gas is very strong in the car. We took it back and they said that everything looks good and that there was no leaks etc. what should I do?
Should I take it back in?
I would take it back for sure and make sure they smell the gas leak. What part of the car is the gas leak coming from? Rear (by fuel pump), vents, engine bay, fill up tube, etc.? Figure that out so that when you take it back, you can let them know so they can try to pinpoint it.
Fuuarkk, that sounds tuff. Transforms the car completely!
It was a worthy upgrade for sure
@ to be able to master Tig welding and being able to make custom exhausts/manifolds/downpipes would be the dream 👨🏭👨🔧
So out of all the clutches brands that you had in the past, which one would you say is the best so far?
Sachs Performance w/DMF by far. Best pedal modulation, holds IS38 on WMI just fine, most reliable.
