I understand Ikram is very new and unproven in the UFC, but he is definitely the best replacement under these circumstances. What middleweight of higher standing is making weight on 1 weeks notice? These guys are huge. People suggested Imavov as if he didnt just fight for 3 1/2 rounds and cut weight to do so one week ago. Strickland could because hes not the biggest most muscular middleweight, but I think he turned it down because he thinks hes above this fight. Ikram just makes sense. I dont understand the hate from other channels and commenters. The UFC could either save the fight with this or cancel it completely. This is surely better.

The breakdown of their performances at 300 is exactly right. Nobody saw Jiri vs Rakic as a title contender match beforehand. Most of the people I saw were picking Rakic to win, some considered him a lock. During the fight everybody with eyes and knowledge of Alex Jiri 1 could see that Jiri has changed nothing, improved nothing, and was tagged badly by an opponent who is not on the level of Alex in striking, and who was returning from a long injury break. Nobody after the fight was thinking this was a title contenders match. It was seen as Jiri barely securing a win after his loss to Alex Pereira. After Alex kod Jamahal, everybody was talking about Magomed Ankalaev. In conversation, on TH-cam, anywhere. Look at "fights to make next" from every single channel; Guru, Tracy, Michael Bisping, legitimately everybody. Magomed makes a callout, not too soon, not too distant, around 6 months from 300, the average active turnaround for a Champion. Had he chosen an earlier date, the chorus of fanboys wouldve suggested he was attempting to *rush* Pereira. Pereira not only says no to this, he suggests "Magomed has to wait". Very strange. I believe he beats Jiri, quite easily, probably relatively unscathed. If he doesnt show up to fight Magomed hes clearly running.

The narrative of "Ankalaev wants to sit out" is a common misconception. The public have interpreted Magomeds callout as an ultimatum - which it wasnt - and then heard ALEX say "Magomed will have to wait", and twisted that into "Magomed WANTS to wait" which is entirely not true. Had the UFC contacted Magomed weeks ago as they had Jiri, he certainly would have accepted this fight. Remember Jiri said he had news of a potential matchup and began preparing weeks ago. That is plenty of notice and Magomed could have prepared. Magomed has never said he would not fight sooner than October in the UAE, that is a common misquote thrown around by commenters. His callout was denied by Alex who claimed "Magomed has to wait". I believe that this unwarranted, undesired rematch with Jiri will come and go with Alex predictably remaining as Champion. Being in June, this will allow Alex enough time to return to fight Magomed in October at UFC 308. If he chooses not to do this, he is blatantly running from Ankalaev. He cannot say "Magomed has to wait" and then run from this statement. Jamahal is not fighting so there can be no talks of another undeserved, undesired rematch. Makhachev and Tsarukyan have both stated a desire to compete on the MSG card in November, so that leaves 308 in October with a vacancy, to be filled by Pereira Ankalaev. It was said that perhaps Khamzat would headline this card for the MW title if he were to beat Whittaker, but that is also not happening, thus a Khamzat title fight headline at 308 seems impossible. Pereira Ankalaev at 308 is the fight to make.

I dont think Jiri deserved it before Magomed, but if it is going to be done quickly and gotten over with then its not problematic. As long as nothing unbelievable happens and Alex remains champ, the Ankalaev fight is certainly next. He is the interesting matchup for Alex. If Alex is to beat Magomed hes proven to be the best at LHW.

Need Ankalaev in the front row and a face-off in the cage after Alex predictably kos Jiri a second time.

It’s fair to say Arman is an underdog, but not a major one of course. I wouldn’t sleep on Arman because he will have the hunger, preparation, will, & belief to push himself past Makhachev, I really hope so at least. I just wish the fight happens and nothing gets in the way to prevent the fight from happening, just wanna see a healthy & well trained rematch between the two. Even if Arman loses, I think it’ll be a great, tough fight. The guy is just 27 and ranked #1 contender already. He’ll have his moment again and develop more throughout his prime.

I agree with everything except the part where you think islams striking is better. I know it looked better in this Dustin fight and he has improved but the first time he fought Arman, Arman had better striking then and he also has improved

Finally someone who actually analyses a fighters performances in context when discussing their decline instead of calling them washed. Conor isn't washed he is just fighting much tougher competition against guys his own size or even slightly bigger than him. Not mention that the game has changed in regards to some of the attacks people go for. Having a wide karate stance will always make him susceptible to calf kicks. People just didn't kick calfs back when he was on top.

Great Analysis. People don't understand the difference between a "full blood" wrestler like Usman and a striker (with a solid TDD if you wanna say so...) like Whittaker. Chimaev will have it much more easier shining on the ground against Rob, and Rob is more likely to do more mistakes there than Usman, cuz of his nature of being a striker.

khamzat can only be defeated by Khamzat himself. If a guy like Usman can be dominated in the very 1st round just imagine what this dude is like?
