Skoda Enyaq iV60 - after 2 years of ownership, what has it been like?
It is impressive. Just for comparison, any idea what would it have been on public transport?
According to train line £130, 3 changes of train and 6 hours 34 minutes. But then I would need to add taxis to and fun the site outside Kidderminster that I was travelling to (the site wasn't in a bus route) so I reckon you could easily add another £80 for that.
I was under the impression that the Tesla supercharger costs £0.67/kwh PAYG, is that not the case?
There's a lot of variation, with a non-Tesla in the past month I've paid 89p at Aviemore, 62p at Perth, 43p at Larkhall and 52p at Gretna
varies by location and time of day even if you are a Tesla driver, you need to check the Tesla app to see what the price will be. They're generally the cheapest though as they use profits from car sales to be able to sell power below cost.
Where do you see the charger prices. Is it on ABRP?
On the Tesla app for Tesla or on the electroverse app if I am using that
That whole section of the M6 around Manchester has been horrendous all week, no idea why. I do junction 23-19 regularly and should take around 20-25 minutes but it's been taking an hour. Bizarrely it was much quicker with the roadworks in place, but they've kept the 50 limit now they've gone.
I presume this was Tuesday last week? I was trying to leave Blackpool heading south. I ended up leaving the motorway to avoid the traffic around Preston. Not only is the Enyaq cheaper than an ICE but the driving experience in heavy stop start traffic is vastly improved.
yes Tuesday afternoon, I have no idea what the issue was as the traffic cleared and there was just nothing to see
The Tesla chargers at Trentham are always a consideration
those were the ones I thought of but that whole area was gridlocked deep red on on the sat nav and on google maps. Quicker just to go to Ionity
Good cost saving for 300 approx miles cannot really get any cheaper , range is the issue for most people who are hesitant for travelling long distances in an electric car ,they are worried they will be stranded somewhere but in reality with a bit of planning and flexibility any trip is stress free . My ID5 is really good at pin pointing chargers on WE CHARGE and so it leaves options to us
Had exactly the same problem with the Swarco chargers at Gloucester southbound which I believe is the same company. The RFID would not work, would only accept credit card. Wondering if we’re tapping the correct place on the charger?
@@Jollops apparently there's an issue with electroverse on their chargers 🙄
ok, we have 2 guys who say preheating is possible but neither @enyaq_gorm nor @Faber850 are explaning how to do it. I would like to ask you to explain how you were successful.
@@schwallobert it's using a product called obd11, not it's a workshop mode, lasts for 5 minutes and you need to have the bonnet open. To use it for longer causes side effects (no idea what they are) and it's not good for the car. Škoda told me this recently in Mladá Boleslav.
Just shy 300 miles and cost £39. Quite expensive electric you have there. I drove 1200 km (745 miles) with Enyaq 80x here in Finland used 2 times CCS and 2 times hotel AC and total cost was 43€ (£33) from public charging battery was full obviously when i left from home so it would add 15€ (£11) for total money used.
@@mr.wizeguy8995 yes we have the most expensive electricity in Europe 😭
@@enyaq_gormwe've had fourteen years of conservative government, that's what happens.
@@mr.wizeguy8995 Just for example, the grid charge for a single DC charger to have power connected to it is roughly £1,000 per year. On the last 12 months the charges have been increased by hundreds of percent. So we get those costs passed on to us as motorists.
@@grahamguest142 and before that new Labour which was conservative in all but name and before that years of Thatcher and Major. 🤷
@enyaq_gorm the Blair brown govs were pre electrification but still took global warming seriously, our wonderful new government is head and shoulders above the last one in pushing EVs and building the new smart grid required, hell, they've even recognised crewcab diesel pickups in the budget, so that'll be another filthy killer off the streets 👍
I use the My Skoda app to plan the route and just send it to the car. I never rely on the Skoda charge suggestions as I always try and use Tesla open to all. I’ll manually turn on battery preconditioning about 20 mins before I get there. The app could be better if it added more charge operators. Great informative videos. 👍
my bladder determines the stops more than any planner. I nearly had to change my trousers before I reached that first Tesla charger :-)
Which model Enyaq do you have and how do you get on with the full pano roof. Is the cabin cooler in the winter period?
@@Pelham22 hi, I've got the 85 Edition. I don't really notice the roof feum the driver's seat, same as when I had a tesla. It's the rear passengers who notice the most. Only had it since July so not experienced a full winter yet but there's been no noticeable difference so far
It is what it is as regards cost ,all plans have to be flexible but still cheaper than ice costs in the long run ,take care
@@paulscott1759 agreed. Part 2 coming soon and it didn't go to plan either, but due to traffic holdups not the car or the chargers.
3.4 kWh rubbish at 70 mph ??? I must be doing something wrong with my Enyaq 80X Sportline Plus. Was the car you drove single or dual motor and could that be the difference for me?
Mine is single motor. My old car (a 60) used to do 3.6 to 3.8 on this type of trip.
I've just got back from a 340 mile trip in my 60 where I had to use 2 public chargers. Overall charging costs for the trip was £41 including a top back to 80% at home. That works out to just over 12p a mile, or, in other terms, cheaper than my old Corolla self charge hybrid. That initial full charge at home goes a long way to offset the cost of public charging. Tesla and Ionity also set as preferred.
Hi there, My Skoda app says that my software is 5.0
@@3rd_Rock yes model year 25 cars have ICAS 5 module and that needs 5.x software. So you will have remote lock and unlock via the app. Older cars do not.
Impressive to be getting those numbers, nice to know it can be done. I'm about 4m/kWh in my wee iD3 but I know we don't drive as carefully as we could. The iD3 is our first EV and we have never had range anxiety and haven't problems public charging. Can't wait to get the bigger Enyaq 85, also in race blue!

@@notel09 it is. The 3.x cars are updateable OTA and the newer cars are too.
It's an absolute disgrace that skoda release a new software every couple of years which older models cannot get.
@@Chesterflaps the way they explained it to me was that when new hardware is introduced that needs new software, that's when a new version number comes out. There's no point in putting the software for the new hardware on a car that doesn't have it. They could just tell us the software version is the same but they're being very public about the numbering. I used 5.2 in the Elroq and I could see no difference as a driver between that and 4.0 on my car. Of course there are differences behind the scenes due to different hardware but I can't see them as a driver. It's like my phone, I have a pixel 9, my wife a pixel 6. They both have android 15 but the newer phone can do different things. If Škoda did the software they'd have different version numbers
@@enyaq_gorm I mean more about 3 to 4. I'm not bothered so much in the background but how it looks. All phones get the same looking and functioning software (to a point) but skoda changed the entire look of the software with 3 to 4. Personally I think they should create a software which works on all hardware rather than leave everyone behind. Just sounds like poor management.
@@Chesterflaps again, 4 was introduced for the new icas hardware built into the 2024 cars. The 60 didn't get the new hardware so didn't get the 4.0 software needed for the new hardware. I actually find the 3.x easier to use on the move, b it's bigger, bolder, clearer. You need to take your eyes off the road for longer to find things on 4.0. It looks different but I find it's not as well suited. Prettier but that's not what's important in my opinion.
@@Chesterflaps and my son's Motorola phone has an older looking software because my Google phone has newer now powerful hardware. Both still android but mine is more updated. Škoda could have frozen the hardware and only brought new hardware when they replace the enyaq but that would be less optimal.

I like that you are able to get some information from Skoda and communicate that to us - We hear very little from dealers- I understand that some of that communication is dependant on the source but as most of you have different sources I expect some differences
@@markthomas7104 mine came from the head of customer experience. He said it in front of the CEO and a load of other senior staff so I'm fairly sure it was accurate. But it was 4 weeks ago so who knows they may well have changed their approach to software in that time.
@@enyaq_gorm It sounds like the information that you have is correct. If course if you take your car to a dealer and they upgrade the hardware needed to go to 5.4 it might be possible but would Skoda do that for free? I can only think if there is a case to simplify customer care Skoda might want to do it but that it would be unlikely. As you have said we will have to see. I am on 3.5 so it will be interesting to see when I get 3.7.

I think says alot of the current situation at Skoda, where even internal sources have totally different information, and there are no official information what so ever. Lets hope we get some proper statement from Skoda regarding this in the near future. Keep up the good work, you are not to blaim for communcating what you have been told, the issue here is the lack of transparency from Skoda/VW/CARIAD.
Let’s just say that Skoda is communicating more than they used to, but not so much in the right way. We’ll see what happens.

but that's the opposite of what Skoda said when we met them in MB. I pushed Eric on this point and he was clear, 3 is for the original Enyaqs. 4 is for the 2024 cars with Icas v4 and 5 was introduced when they changed the ICAS module. SO what Matthias has been told is the opposite of that. I asked Skoda when I saw his video and they said they don't know anything about it. I hope his source is correct.
