The Scenic Way up Rainbow Mountain - Lots of Llamas, Not Enough Oxygen, & Zero Crowds
Today we continue our Peru Bucket List adventure, waking up at 4am to leave Cusco with our guide, Miguel, at 5am.
It would be a 3 hour drive through countryside, mountain villages and remote, untouched areas where indigenous Inca communities still live off the land.. all the way Vinicunca (a.k.a. Rainbow Mountain).
We were the second visitors to the trailhead. An otherwise easy trek for one of us was truly daunting, thanks to its location at the highest altitude either of us have ever trekked - 5,200m = 17,000ft. Upon reaching the vista point, we were in direct view of Ausangate, a gorgeous peak that stands at 20,950ft. I never knew I would find us standing in the Andes and taking in such terrain and landscape. For us both, this hike was a major success and highlight of this trip.
In 2021, international travel was still something requiring additional precautions and planning. But we were willing to take the risk if it meant the opportunity to go explore this amazing corner of the world - come along for the ride!

      Hey there! I apologize that we didn't keep good record of the paint we used, I'm assuming you're asking about the white exterior. We did seek out an outdoor rated paint with primer built in, and we got it at Lowes but I can't remember what brand or line it was. To prep for the paint we scrubbed the exterior down with soap and water & let it dry but we did nothing else crazy special!

      Hello! I am sure you've already completed you project by now, but I asked and we used an exterior-rated Valspar (likely we used the DuraMax line) white paint. www.lowes.com/pd/Valspar-Duramax-Ultra-White-Semi-gloss-Latex-Exterior-Paint-Actual-Net-Contents-31-5/5001294899 Basically anything exterior rated, that claims to adhere to metals or vinyl, is likely to be just fine for your purposes. Of course if the budget allows for it, I believe there are "premium" levels beyond DuraMax that could have longer staying power. As for the black trim, I had already been using Rust-oleum hammered spray paint in black for many of the interiors, so I maintained consistency with the exterior trim as well. www.lowes.com/pd/Rust-Oleum-Universal-Gloss-Black-Hammered-Spray-Paint-and-Primer-In-One-Actual-Net-Contents-12-oz/3728965 Best of luck!

    • @arauth200
      @arauth200 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey there Stef! I would say that yes, you can definitely get good views. If you want to hike, unfortunately you won't be able to bring the dog per the National Park restrictions. At the time of our visit, dogs were limited to paved areas, which basically means the several pull-outs and parking lot areas. There is one dog-approved 'trail' but it's not so much a trail as it is a nice walk. Regardless of all that - you will see lots with your dog. However, if you were banking on getting into Bryce deeper than just the viewpoints off the side of the road, then I would leave the dog home :-(

    You guys look like you really enjoyed yourselves! My favorite parts were the feeding of the fish, the parasailing, the albino alligator and the house that looks like it was used in The Truman Show! I was feeling jealous throughout the video. It’s good to see that you guys enjoyed it though!
