I appreciate ur transparency and you sharing this information ❤
Aw good thank you 🙂
Yes you have gained more knowledge without a doubt
Ahh thank you !! 😊
currently I am trying to get employed in England but finding it difficult. I am registered but limited experience.
Hi some people decide to just get in a local authority and take a role such as an unqualified social worker post to gain experience then go from there with applying for an internal social work post when one comes up. That depends on whether you could afford that financial hit though. X
@@KayleighRoseEvans what do you mean unqualified? I cannot do support or care work is there any other unqualified work? I have to work as a social worker to get registered in Southern Ireland.
@@Elizabethewr Hayleigh, is right. Just a job as an admin or support worker for a local authority, then work your way up.
@@Elizabethewr So in councils they have roles where people are doing lower level social work but these people are not trained social workers. In my local authority they are called case assessors. However, if you have to work as a social worker in order to get registered in Ireland that would be a sticking point, sorry.
I can't do support work because issue with manual handling and personal care. I have checked for assessor role but none in Manchester. I have only moved to Manchester last Saturday.
Hi Kayleigh, I've worked very hard on my Access course to achieved all top grades; hold a strong personal statment and experience regarding Social Work/ Health and Social Care and worked my head off for the three stage interview and passed it. My heart morosed through acknowledging only one thing within the job role and deacription, is that I have drive as part of this profession. There is no support regarding disability and mental health which hinders me to drive, due to this profession becoming a community workbased. I have been neglecting it. My dreams have shattered! I've ended up choosing to study law and become a solicetor. I've had a strong passion and interest in Social Work but it all happens for a reason. Maybe god created a different destination for me.
Hi that's such a shame not to go into social work when you've worked so hard for it. I don't know if it's any help now but I do know some social workers who don't drive. I work in a hospital so wouldn't necessarily need to drive for that. Although, law is also a brilliant route you can massively help people in so I wish you all the absolute best in your endeavours ☺️
@@KayleighRoseEvans Nothing has gone to waste if Social work was not the option for me. Becoming a solicetor is still another way of supporting vulnerable clients who have been ripped off or robbed into a contract. So I have nothing to lose. Law is above and beyond Social work, when your supporting service users within Social Work, your still working around laws. The majority of social work careers involve driving licence and it's more community effective. Not being able to drive is not worth of getting in debt for £50,000 for this degree, when options are limited. Thank you for your warm wishes and wish you best of luck for the future with all bright colours in the sky! 😃
Great video and useful tips☺️. I completely agree and found that I was more confident in my role as I increased my knowledge. I've also been lucky to have worked with some very knowledgeable colleagues over the years and have found that so helpful too xx
Aww thanks for watching, good point about colleagues. They are the main sources of knowledge for sure !! xx
Your pretty, I have to say. Great video, by the way.
Aw thank you ❤️
Thank you very informative
Brilliant thanks 👍
I found this very helpful. Thank you Kayleigh
Really pleased to hear it. Lots more of these theory ones to come 👍
Informative video. Thank you 🙏🙏
Glad it was helpful! I've got more like these lined up :D
Thank you Kayleigh. A must watch video on social work theories. Clear explanations with examples 😊
Hi Thank you! More like this one to come. Hope you are doing well :D
Ive been very interesting in becoming a social worker. But definitely Apprehensive due to me being dyslexic
This has been a topic of discussion in the discord group I have for social workers. It's free to join - linktr.ee/kayleighrevans
Social work does not and should never include false practices such as discriminating set backs.
Hi Kayliegh, I've managed to be offered a condtional place due to the strengh of my personal statment and three stage interview.
That's amazing news well done 😁
@@KayleighRoseEvans Thank you. I hope to go into nhs social work or become a clincal psychologist regarding mental health practices, studying through Bsc Psychology with mental health. I'm only best suited within clinical social work job roles, not going into people's houses for assessments and cases. I'm not confident within driving due to suffering range of disabilities and mental health illnesses. I'm still think whether to study social work or psychology with mental health at University.
@@Seharkhan69 hi it's great you have an idea in mind. I am a hospital social worker at the moment and don't really go into houses. You can state your preferences on the course. 👍
@@KayleighRoseEvans So I can choose to work with NHS and disregard home meetings. Home meetings will be difficult due to not being able to drive independantly.
You can have roles where they are predominantly based in a building like a hospital where you don't necessarily need to do home visits. However, sometimes visits are needed in these roles for example if having to follow up on protection of property/ animals for example where their are issues for people who have been admitted but if you have difficulties getting there it would be something to discuss and get support from a manager with. Hope that helps.
I have an ASYE interview in 2 days, I have been so anxious until I watched this, thank you 🙏 for the tips.
Ahh I hope you do really well. I'm glad it's helped 😀
Great as always Kayleigh 😊. I had a little watch of this before my recent interview...xx
Ahh brilliant!!! 😁 One of my best supporters ❤️xx

Hi that's great to hear thank you 😌
This is always challenging and a good reminder you mentioned is that I am a professional indeed. It's always daunting and I find this mostly with Drs, however, getting prepped before the meeting helps loads as you mentioned!xxxx
Heyy thanks for your comment ❤️
Wow!Such great experience and great info on choice re Adult Social Work!I struggle with this especially on first episode Psychosis where someone has gone through their lives without mental ill health and one thing or a number of things happen in their lives leading to admission. xxxx
Hi thanks for your comment. Yeah social work can be tough but also rewarding 🥰xx
This came just in time as I was carrying out one so great timing. Great insightful information as always!Keeping my eyes peeled for more videos.xx
Brilliant, thank you for your positive comment and supporting the channel! 🥰Xx
Information, advice and guidance at its best. Accessing the funding is really important to ensure the care plan is fully implemented. What are the various routes to receiving the funding plesse
Thank you ! In the UK local authorities will contribute towards care costs if someone has savings below £23,250. Capital tied up in property can impact on this if a 24 hour placement is needed. If someone has a primary healthcare need the NHS may find care via continuing healthcare funding.
i have a master's degree in social work not from the UK, can i still register me as a social worker in the UK? If yes, how can i do that. your knowledge in this regard will be highly appreciated also how to contact you if any further information required in future please?
Hi it's worth speaking with Social Work England to find out requirements but to work in the UK you have to register with social work England. 😊 To reach out further here is my linktree with details to reach me or join my free community on discord.
How many essays are there each year? Thank you ❤
Hi I actually can't remember and I wonder if every university is different. Maybe someone else can answer this?
Thank you Kayleigh. All useful information captured in one video. ❤😊
Thank you ❤️😊
@KayleighRoseEvans if a service users refuses support in a third sector agency, and have the capacity to take the decision would that limit the legal actions which can be taken to safeguard them from risk?
I’d highlight the very misunderstood step 4 of the functional test i.e. communication. So many people mis-assess this and say because the person doesn’t understand or retain the key information they cannot communicate a decision but that’s not what the law says - it’s a decision, not an informed decision. Very very few people should be judged to not be able to communicate a decision. See guidance from the fantastic 39 Essex Chambers. For clarity it’s worth noting that advance decisions (and directives) are healthcare treatment related and so nearly never done by social care staff including social workers. A best interest decision should weigh up at least 2 available options - a single option isn’t really an option at all (no choice) and should not be limited to what the professionals and family think are only the good ideas.
Thank you for highlighting this information. This is so helpful. 👍
Thank you for sharing Kayleigh. Brilliant as usual. Can you please share a video on how to write a good critical incident analysis for a final year social work placement?
Brilliant thank you. I need to look into what these critical analysis pieces involve as a few people have asked! :)
@KayleighRoseEvans that would be great.. I am on my final year social work placement. The one I need to write has to cover elements such as safeguarding, risk, professional judgement and decision making. Thank you in advance
Ahh ok so do you pick an experience from your placement to reflect on in relation to this? Thanks 😊
@KayleighRoseEvans yes you pick a critical incident from you placement. It is not case study but an incident. You have to say why its a safeguarding one and have to link in risk management, professional judgement and decision making. Also include legal and policy frameworks.
@@AB-dx7rq hi ok that makes sense thanks 👍
Hello Kayleign, thanks for the video and it is really recommended for those who want to level up Social work skills.
Hi that's great to hear thanks 👍
Hi 👋 do you know can I be a social worker if I don’t have a qualification and an experience as a social worker? Thanks
Hi to practice as a social worker you generally need some voluntary experience or experience of helping people in your private life. A lot of people take access courses to get the qualifications needed for the degree so don't let that put you off. Have a search on entry requirements and then may be worth enquiring direct with a university you would be interested in applying for or going through the apprenticeship route.
@@KayleighRoseEvans thanks a lot for your suggestions 👍 Do you have Instagram?
Very informative video, thank you for making it. I have one question please do let me know, the mandatory placements as a part of this course can we choose where we want to do it as students or its totally controlled by the university? Thanks
Hi thanks for your positive feedback. What generally happens is you express an interest in whether you want to go into children's or adults and then also in what area you would be interested in trying. They will try to find you somewhere to match. 👍
@@KayleighRoseEvans wonderful, thank you so much for the much needed reply that too this quick 😊🙏
@@Gratitude.pjshetty No problem. 😄
Alshad gave a great insight into how to tackle the case, amazing practitioner
He is indeed ! 😄
Gosh i just love this dark moody vibe. The colours and patterned chair is stunning. I can’t wait to do my work-placement next year.
Hi pleased to hear that you like the vibe 🙂. Oohh brilliant I think everything clocks into place once you are applying it to practice!
Wonderful, very helpful.
Pleased to hear that ☺️
Gearing up for my social work degree! Prepping these next few months to soak up all the knowledge I can. thanks 🙏
Hi I wish you all the very best with that !! 😀
The understanding between a social workers and is client is well considerably in your lecture. Thanks so much
Glad you found it helpful ☺️
I had my first role play assessments for my diploma and this was out of my comfort zone. My weakness is group meeting situations and this one had conflict. I really want to improve my conflict resolution skills especially in a larger meeting situation. This would've have been soo much help if I found you last week or the week before. Great content.
Hi I'm really pleased to hear you are finding the content useful! 😊 Honestly, conflict resolution comes with practice and knowing the end goal which is to advocate for the person you are supporting. I find that by being very clear on the info important to that person before the meeting, you are best able to stand up for them and manage conflict effectively. 😊
ok wow the backdrop is gorgeous. That chair is just beautiful. I am looking to study a bachelor or social work and looking to do some extra law subjects. I want to be an advocate for social justice. I am currently studying a diploma in community services and I really can't wait to do the law and ethic subject. Thanks for this video.
I’m looking to go into adults your videos are really helpful where are you

This is perfect timing. Thank you!
That's brilliant to hear 😊
Thank you for this. My exam is in May.
No problem. Good luck with it !
Hi Kayliegh, will all those books be enough to thrive through BA Social Work Degree over the course of 3 years. I have successfully passed the 3 stage Social Work interview, and been offered a place at my chosen Uni within my local city. This is my firm choice degree I will be doing after this Access course in September.
Hi what I would suggest is to wait until you get the reading list as there may be core books they suggest that you use a lot and they will be worth getting. However, Siobhan's theory cards really helped me understand whatever book I was reading. This is because it says it in simple language which helps when reading heavier academic books. Alison Brammer's Law book was also a really helpful one. 🙂
@@KayleighRoseEvans thank you for your fundamental adivse, it's best to wait for the actual books. Don't worry I am still active to watch your content. I learn a lot from your channel, hope you thrive.
thanks for this Kayleigh!
Glad you liked it 😄
Hi Kayleigh I’m thinking of becoming a social worker but I wanna know what is the legislation involved in the practical work , theory and the legislation involved at university plus I would also like to know what is the course work like? Do you need to be a bookworm. Thanks in advance.
Hiya, I will be honest when I started uni I was surprised by how much legislation and reading was involved as the job is very practical. However, when in the role you also have a lot of writing to do as you have to feel confident to keep good records, write assessments and write in a way that stands up to scrutiny in a court context. There are lots of assignments, there are law exams and placements in social work roles. I wouldn't say you have to be a bookworm but you will have to read as part of it to get through the course and then are expected to keep yourself informed after completion. You get used to what is required as you go through the course though! Hope that helps 😃
Hi @@KayleighRoseEvans . Thank you so much that really helps.

Hi I can't drive do you think this will get in the way if I do social work
Hi there are some roles you can do without a car, like working in a hospital or rehab centre for example. However, home visits are harder without a car but I know people who cycle or use public transport. When you are a student there are forms to fill in for placement to say if you are a driver or not and then you get a placement that suits you. :)
@@KayleighRoseEvans thank you for the reply ❤️
