How would you compared your X73 suspension with the Ohlins in the other car? I’m considering some, but not sure I should go with which?
The ohlins are definitely better and if my car didn’t have the X73, I would probably just get ohlins with the X73 sway bars rather than going with full X73 setup
Would love to see a video of 2 cayman gts chasing each other!

hey you had mentioned in a previous video you only have 91 octane in your area... is it compatible with your softronics tune? im guessing you have altitude factored in? How has reliability been with Softronic? just asking questions before pulling the trigger on my own headers and tune setup :)
I didn't go the softronic route. I have a Cobb AP and had a custom tune done by M-Engineering and I'm really happy with it. They send you a map, you do a few 3rd gear data logs on the AP, and they make adjustments based on those data logs. I did recently find a gas stations selling 100 octane so I mix in about 3.6 gallons of 100 octane into the 91 to get a 93-94 octane mix. M-Engineering gave me an updated map with more aggressive timing to take advantage of this. Overall very happy and I have no concern with reliability. I occasionally monitor the timing corrections in each cylinder and so far have not had any problems with pulled timing.

Must be amazing to hear that car running through canyon.. 😊
Very cool. I am approaching 40K mileage on my 22' 718 GT4 PDK car. I am hoping to keep it until around 150K miles, since I have done quite a bit to it (MCS 2-way dampers, APEX wheels, & Kline Inconel exhaust) Praying the PDK and motor stay strong the whole way. I plan on doing a tune after the warranty is up. My only concern is the PCCB rotors. I do not track, but don't baby it on the street. I change the pads out at 50% life to keep too much heat out of the rotors and my pad usage is mild, so I am probably good.
These 981 cars are the best. Nice job with the audio recording, sounds very accurate. How do you like the aFe dry filters and did you notice any increase in induction noise?
Thank you! I do really like these filters. Pretty easy to clean since no oil is needed. There was a noticeable increase in induction noise and also noticed by my friend who has a 981S with stock filters. The GTS does have the sound symposer so in cabin induction noise is is a bit louder even without aftermarket filters.

Car sounds epic, how have you found the Cargraphic headers vs Top Gear, any power difference between the 2. Did you tune before or after the headers?
@@ralphsmit4608 thank you! Before I bought them I confirmed with my tuner that I wouldn’t need a retune and engine seems just as happy after the swap. I did notice a shift in the powerband further up in the rev range. Seems to pull harder to red line but you can notice a very slight decreased in the low end torque compared to the Top Gear headers.
@@janssentodd2200 Thanks for the info and vs stock? I have a 981CS with a Carnewal GT exhaust and am looking into catless headers next, my car is also already tuned, and am hoping to get a bit of a power bump from stock

How much?
Asking $10,000 or better reasonable offer
Sounds great! Worth the extra buck compare to the top gear ones? And out of curiousty, why these instead of the equal length fabspeed ones?
After two drives, it was absolutely worth the extra money. I was lucky and found a set of very lightly used ceramic coated Cargraphic headers online for a great price and will be selling my Top Gear headers to a friend. If you look at the equal length Fabspeed headers, they have much shorter primaries which can give some increased power in the low-mid range but you lose the top end power gains. They do sound fantastic but part of the fun with these NA engines is wringing it out and I would hate to lose some power in the top end. Another less important reason is that when I change spark plugs with catless headers, I don't need to remove the actual headers anymore (this is true with probably most catless setups). Fabspeed's design would make it pretty hard to torque down spark plugs whereas the Cargraphic design gives a lot of room for a torque wrench to be used at the 6 o'clock position.
Thanks! Are you also familiar with the European Racing Headers / GT-racing? Any thoughts on those? Seems like equally length for a better price.
@@wout-janwaslander2555 I did see those as well but there wasn’t much as far as sound clips that I could find outside of one dyno run on a 981 GTS. The design is also a little funky with more bends in the primaries. I’m not sure how long GT racing has been making headers but Cargraphic has been making headers for Porsches for quite a while so I had a bit more trust in the build quality.
GLWS!
I have 981 Boxster GTS and just moved to PHX. I should definitely try tortilla flat run early in the morning. Great video and great car!
We are heading up there this Sunday, you should join us! Shoot me an email at jjtodd0612@yahoo.com and I’ll give you details
Amazing setup. How much HP are you now getting with these headers and tune? Is it in real-life the high GT3 pitch?
Not sure of exact numbers since it hasn’t been on a dyno but probably around 370hp or so. Unfortunately I only have access to 91 octane so that limits the tune a little. But the car is plenty fast and after about 8 months with the headers I have no desire for more power. The sound is amazing but not quite as high pitched as a GT3 and that’s because these headers don’t have equal length primaries. They are the exact design as the soul headers but fabspeed offers headers with equal length primaries that give it that higher pitch.
@janssentodd2200 appreciate the extended answer. Very helpful, when googling "equal length headers" I do get the adverts of this top gear decat header. But if I understand you correctly, that is false? So for the GT3 sound I should go with a fabspeed decat headers.
@@wout-janwaslander2555 you may be seeing the headers they sell for the 987 which do appear to have equal length primaries. If you look at the ones for the 981 generation, the middle primary is shorter than the outside primaries. When I received mine I actually measured them out and the middle is indeed shorter. If you watch a video of the 987 with top gear headers, it does have that higher pitch sound. Like this th-cam.com/video/umy7ucZmqqM/w-d-xo.htmlsi=c1--GO-QWLgnVd1v But yes, if you want a little bit more refined sound, then fabspeed is a good choice. They are an extra $1k though which is why I settled with the top gear ones.
I have the sudden desire to switch from the 718 to the 981
Do it, you won't look back!. 718 is awesome but can't beat the NA 6 cylinder sound!
hello I would like to know if the cayman s and the gts have the same exhaust sound with the PSE Thanks
There are essentially 2 differences but they are unrelated to the actual design of the PSE as it's identical to either model. First, on the GTS, there are a lot more "burbles" than the S. This is due to a slightly different factor tune. The second difference is probably more subtle but the GTS has a tube (sound actuator) that runs from the intake side to the cabin behind the seats and opens up when you turn on the PSE. This doesn't change the exhaust from the outside but just allows a little more sound into the cabin.
The second half of tortilla flats is my favorite part. I couldn't imagine how well this thing feels up there!
So the burbles still exist, they're just much quieter?
They still exist but occur more randomly now. I would say 10% of downshifts at higher rpms will give a few pops and I can usually make it afterfire once if accelerating hard and letting off the throttle quickly. My guess is it’s just true rich conditions where there is some unburnt fuel making it past the exhaust valves rather than the ECU forcing that rich condition artificially with extra fuel.
I think this just saved me a couple thousand dollars on my build; I am ordering this ASAP. Did you cut out the little defouler or leave it in tact? If you took it out, how much work was it?
Nope, I left it in but I’m sure it’s not that hard to remove. I’m pretty thrilled to not have any CEL and don’t want to mess that up. Although I’m guessing J-style spacers for the O2 sensors is what is actually allowing me to run this setup without a CEL. I can’t image that taking out the defouler would make a significant difference in power.
@@janssentodd2200 good to know. I also thought it would be more hassle than it's worth. Which spacers are you running? Might not matter as I'll probably take the opportunity to put a softronic tune on as well to just clear the cel
@@colejordan8520 I have the J-style ones from EMDauto. But yeah if you go with softronic you can skip them
Do you have to have the tune due to deleting the cats?
No tune required to drive the car with this setup, you just won’t get the increase in HP/Tq

I own a Cayman GTS PDK Rhodium silver since 2016. Still in love 😍. Great video. Enjoy it. 981 greetings from Bavaria🎉
Glorious sound! I wish my Cayman S came with the PSE. Those things are near impossible to find and buy online.
Thank you! It is quite impressive how well the PSE works and how much it quiets down when turned off. You could always get some headers to make it a bit louder (and get the power gains). I have a friend with these same headers and a non-PSE stock exhaust and it sounds great.
Love the coasting to get onto the interstate 😎
Car noticeably quicker after headers and tune? Had the pleasure to drive this road. You Arizona guys are spoiled!
Definitely a noticeable increase in the mid range torque with the tune. Even if there was no increase in power, I would have done this for the noise alone! Can't get enough of it. If this road were closer to me, I would be driving it weekly, it's so much fun.
