Not sure of exact numbers since it hasn’t been on a dyno but probably around 370hp or so. Unfortunately I only have access to 91 octane so that limits the tune a little. But the car is plenty fast and after about 8 months with the headers I have no desire for more power. The sound is amazing but not quite as high pitched as a GT3 and that’s because these headers don’t have equal length primaries. They are the exact design as the soul headers but fabspeed offers headers with equal length primaries that give it that higher pitch.

@janssentodd2200 appreciate the extended answer. Very helpful, when googling "equal length headers" I do get the adverts of this top gear decat header. But if I understand you correctly, that is false? So for the GT3 sound I should go with a fabspeed decat headers.

@@wout-janwaslander2555 you may be seeing the headers they sell for the 987 which do appear to have equal length primaries. If you look at the ones for the 981 generation, the middle primary is shorter than the outside primaries. When I received mine I actually measured them out and the middle is indeed shorter. If you watch a video of the 987 with top gear headers, it does have that higher pitch sound. They are an extra $1k though which is why I settled with the top gear ones.

Do it, you won't look back!. 718 is awesome but can't beat the NA 6 cylinder sound!

There are essentially 2 differences but they are unrelated to the actual design of the PSE as it's identical to either model. First, on the GTS, there are a lot more "burbles" than the S. This is due to a slightly different factor tune. The second difference is probably more subtle but the GTS has a tube (sound actuator) that runs from the intake side to the cabin behind the seats and opens up when you turn on the PSE. This doesn't change the exhaust from the outside but just allows a little more sound into the cabin.

They still exist but occur more randomly now. I would say 10% of downshifts at higher rpms will give a few pops and I can usually make it afterfire once if accelerating hard and letting off the throttle quickly. My guess is it’s just true rich conditions where there is some unburnt fuel making it past the exhaust valves rather than the ECU forcing that rich condition artificially with extra fuel.

Nope, I left it in but I’m sure it’s not that hard to remove. I’m pretty thrilled to not have any CEL and don’t want to mess that up. Although I’m guessing J-style spacers for the O2 sensors is what is actually allowing me to run this setup without a CEL. I can’t image that taking out the defouler would make a significant difference in power.

@@janssentodd2200 good to know. I also thought it would be more hassle than it's worth. Which spacers are you running? Might not matter as I'll probably take the opportunity to put a softronic tune on as well to just clear the cel

@@colejordan8520 I have the J-style ones from EMDauto. But yeah if you go with softronic you can skip them

No tune required to drive the car with this setup, you just won’t get the increase in HP/Tq

Thank you! It is quite impressive how well the PSE works and how much it quiets down when turned off. You could always get some headers to make it a bit louder (and get the power gains). I have a friend with these same headers and a non-PSE stock exhaust and it sounds great.

Definitely a noticeable increase in the mid range torque with the tune. Even if there was no increase in power, I would have done this for the noise alone! Can't get enough of it. If this road were closer to me, I would be driving it weekly, it's so much fun.

My guess is that it would sound pretty mean! But, I would also guess that it would probably drone and without a valved muffler you’re stuck with “always loud”. The setup I have sounds almost stock with the valves closed and really has no drone even at highway speeds.

@@janssentodd2200that makes sense. You just have the stock PSE Sport exhaust? I guess I could looking into getting the top gear valved exhaust to go along with it. So I can shut off if needed.

@@erikshirkey yep just the stock PSE. I would recommend some sort of valved system if it’s your daily driver. It’s just nice being able to have a “civilized” mode when taking road trips and stuff.

@@janssentodd2200 I thought so but wasn’t sure. I’ve only ever driven on that road a few times so your POV video is a treat as it allowed me to see scenery that I don’t notice while driving

Thank you! Just the regular onboard microphone on the GoPro Hero 11. I use a foam cover for the GoPro to help cut down on interference from wind noise

@@janssentodd2200 Thanks - I should add a foam cover then. I picked up a Zoom recorder and mic but haven't tried it yet. Nice GTS BTW!

@@purelydriving thank you! I actually just bought the media mod for the GoPro and will be trying out an Olympus ME51s microphone. But yeah the foam cover made a big difference. I think having the wind setting set to “off” also helps quite a bit. I’ll post some videos later in the week with the new set up!

Fitment was perfect, really couldn’t have been any better. I installed titanium studs which should make them easier to take off during spark plug changes. I got an E-tune from M-engineering. They sent me a base map, I sent them data logs and they made adjustments to squeeze some more power out. Very happy with the tune and would definitely recommend them.

The GTS is very close to the GT4 in HP and TQ. Not sure what you meant by that. The GTS is no slouch.

I absolutely love how it sounds and that’s okay if you don’t! This setup is nice because when I’m driving around neighborhoods or pulling into my house late at night, I can just close the valves and it’s about as quiet as stock. So it’s only loud when I want it to be loud.

@@janssentodd2200 all fine. Maybe I am just too old or had to many loud cars. Still have a 981 gt4 and think it’s already a bit annoying with open valves. But the sound engineering is almost perfect from stock

@@noandrewhere Love the 981 GT4, such a great looking and sounding car. Nothing wrong with how these cars are designed stock, that is for sure, I just wanted the option of louder. With this setup I get more of that glorious flat six engine sound, decent power increase with a tune, no drone, and the ability to press a single button to make it quiet. Tuning also allowed me to have the artificial burbles/pops removed and the downshifts are so much cleaner sounding.

It doesn't sound that loud to me compared to other videos I've seen. It sounds just right, no drone or pops. I have a 981 S and I could see the benefit of a better exhaust especially because of the Cayman's notorious long gearing. I would love to hear my flat six's amazing sound at lower RPMs.

I've had two of these, gt4 and a base. I've done all manner of different types of mods and the header choice is one of the best you can make leagues better than doing a cat back as you can essentially have slightly elevated sounds with valves closed.... But here's the real reason why this is such a good mod: Factory headers have dual 700cell density cats, it's on purpose done to kill the power and the sound because it does nothing more to clean over 400cell anyway! So it's double the density it needs to be, the power unlocked and also the sound produced all benefits.
