At the dealership where I worked a young kid was installing a new firebird decal on the hood. A small defect or bubble occurred during installation, but could have easily been fixed with a little finess. Actually another guy / mechanic pointed out this small flaw that may not have actually existed in the first place. Guy #2 was just being a jerk, and made the whole story up, just to mess with the guy trying to install the decal. The guy installing the decal fell for it , and believed there was a problem with the decal, even though no real problem existed ,that couldn't be fixed with a little finess. The decal installer preceeded to rip and tear the decal off the hood...wadded it up into a ball...then called his boss to tell him to order another decal , because the one he tried to install had some sort of defect in it . Guy #2 now felt like a real jerk, because his prank or joke was taken seriously. A $300 dollars decal destroyed for no reason, except for guy#2 not knowing when to keep his mouth shut, and mind his own business. And don't play stupid pranks or jokes on someone else , for just a laugh.

I live in San Jose California for 7 years I've been searching for a basic firebird to turn it into a trans am clone copy I finally found one literally and showroom condition with a straight six cylinder engine I turned it into a 1973 Smokey and the bandit style gold and black I drive it around I take it to shows and the funniest part is when I open the hood and there's a straight six fully restored under the hood the Shaker is attached to the hood to give it that real impression I did change out the dash template to the spun one a local club offered me $22,000 for it but I'm not selling it I keep it everybody gets a big kick out of it by the way if you're looking for a basic firebird 69 through 73 to turn into a trans am clone you'll be lucky to find one

Yup with the VIN, you win: 1 for Chevrolet, 23 for Camaro six cylinder, 37 for two door coupe, 7 for 1967 model year, N for Norwood, OH assembly and the rest is the production sequence. The Norwood plant closed in August of 1987. With the tag, you can brag: 09B for the second week of September 1966 assembly, 67 for 1967 model year, 12437 for Chevrolet (1) Camaro with standard interior (24) two door coupe (37), NOR for Norwood, OH assembly, 709 for standard Gold bucket seat interior trim, Z for without headrests, G-G for Granada Gold lower and upper exterior paint and accessory code 5Y for deluxe seat belts, aka RPO code A39.

@ A Ford counterpart (pun intended) of sorts is the Mustang guru Bob who owns the only ‘71 Boss 302 in existence. Ford went as far as producing replacement parts for it before pulling the plug on it. Long before Bob actually knew where the car was or even if it still existed, as a guy working the parts counter, he kept every Boss 302 part only and scooped some up from other dealerships. Years later, the unicorn Boss made its way to him and he had NOS parts for his world class resto at his shop. Jerry Healey features this amazing car story in at least 2 YT vids

Great story! Too bad that he will be the last person probably doing this hobby now because He obviously didn't get the memo that all car makers, GM included, have adopted a new plan for all of the newer cars built after the year 2018 to increase their profits by triple the amount. And this plan pretty much kills any possibility of this hobby continuing anymore. The car makers have all decided that they want to be the only mechanics for the cars that they are making and it also makes sure that they will still get paid for repairs even if it's someone else doing it for them. What car builders realized was that they were making cars too good for the consumers and that people were not needing to buy newer cars as much as they would have wanted them to. So what better way to get people to buy cars more frequently than to make their cars last only as long as they warrantied their cars. Everyone buys a new car thinking it will be reliable and if it isn't, they will sell it and buy one that is. That is why they all needed to be onboard with this plan or everyone would just run to a car maker with the most reliable car. Turns out this was an easy problem for them to solve. All they needed to all agree to was to start using cheap electric parts all over all the newer cars built in the name of safety so that all the newer cars would be breaking down in about 5 years when their warranty just expired. That would get more people buying newer cars sooner and for the people who refused to do that, they would be met with constant high repair costs from the dealerships being that they are the only people capable of working on them since they don't give access to the source code for the way their car's computers are programed. And to get access to the software tools necessary to repair all newer cars built today they will charge people about 10k dollars a year for a subscription to access that software. That amount of money is too much for even an independent mechanic shop to be able to afford since every brand of car will require people to pay that amount of money to access that software not to mention they have to buy the computers to scan a car as well which can also be very expensive to purchase and might need to be upgraded every couple of years. So it makes sense that there would be a hobby for people who liked working on cars in the past but this new business model of building cheap and poorly designed cars meant to last about 5 years and then overcharging people for the tools to be able to repair these newer cars pretty much kills this hobby altogether. Nobody is going to take the time to restore a poorly built car that's designed to only last 5 years and even if they wanted to still, they would most likely not be able to afford to do that anyway. I think this business model stinks but the problem is that most Americans will just accept that this is the only way forward and they will just keep buying these pieces of junk and trying to find ways to be able to afford to keep them working longer than 5 years without any problems. Of course, that is not possible because it's the electronics that they are building into these cars that will be the thing that fails early as everyone knows that electronics is not meant to last 30 years like mechanical cars parts used to. They also use tons of plastic on newer cars in places that they know they shouldn't but do anyway to save a nickel on every car they sell. They are not interested in building quality cars anymore at all because that won't make them richer than they really want to be. And what matters the most here is that they all want to be richer so everybody has to pay more for their crappy cars or they can choose to walk instead. Maybe you won't take this as a giant middle finger to you but I do which is why I will never buy a newer car ever again. I know that won't make them change this plan. Too bad everyone else didn't do the same thing as well because they would go bankrupt if everyone in this country just stopped buying these pieces of junk for only a year. That would send a message to these car makers that the people will not tolerate this new business model of theirs and if they want to make and sell cars again, they will have to start to build quality cars again that anyone can repair themselves for a reasonable price or they can start to look for a new job themselves. This would only require people to drive their older cars for one year longer. Not that much of a huge sacrifice for everyone in this country to be able to change this disgusting behavior car makers are showing us now. They made more than enough profit before. It wasn't enough for these rich assholes to already be millionaires, they now need to be billionaires? I guess time will tell whether that happens or not. I just know that I won't be giving them any of my hard-earned money for their poorly built cars that are meant to fail in a couple of years leaving me with no choice but to buy a new one or pay through the nose in repairs just to keep it on the road. But that's just me. I have no problem fighting back these greedy bastards when I can and I definitely have the ability to do this simple thing. I just highly doubt that anyone else will because I already know that the majority of the people are really sheeple who will just do what the guy next door to him will be doing. Common sense has become a rare thing in this country these days. Right now we are all experiencing a massive money grab by all the large corporations and everybody complains about it but they won't even try to do anything about it. If the establishment tells these people that they have to kill their parents because there aren't enough resources left for them, they will all get in line to get their free bullets to do it. This country has become completely corrupted now and in every aspect of our society. The rich have decided they want all the money for themselves and they have the power to force us to give it to them if we let them which I'm betting we will. I'm just curious how poor do people have to become before they feel that it's time to start fighting back. So far I have seen people lose it all and end up homeless before they start to get angry enough to fight back but then it's too late for them to do that. I wish I could have a more positive outlook but that would require me to see some signs of more people starting to fight back and I have seen none of that so far. It's been 20 years of watching and waiting for the people to start to do something and I have tried myself to get people informed and more involved but honestly, it's hard to get anyone to even want to listen to anything until they are penniless and on the streets homeless. Most people like to believe things like this are not possible in this country so they just go along with everything that is happening to them. They like to think that the government would never let something like this to happen and what they don't understand is that the government no longer is here to work for the people as they have only worked for the rich and the corporations that they own. So our government is very much a big part of how these criminals are getting away with this. They will not be helping anyone anytime soon when they are the ones helping the rich do all of this. You will never hear anything negative about these corporations because those corporations are the ones who also own all of our mainstream media which they use to lie to us and to divide us so that we fight each other instead of fighting them. I suggest canceling your newspapers and turning off your TVs for 3 or 4 months for you to be able to come back to your senses. Because that is how they have been controlling everybody here. I found that hard to believe myself but once I turned off my TV and I started to socialize with people again, I started to clearly see that I was also brainwashed by them. We were all taught from a very early age that this country is number one in everything and that we are always the good guys. That hasn't been true for many many decades now and it's not hard to find out the truth if you take the time to go looking for it in places that haven't been corrupted yet. Do yourself a favor and don't take my word for it. Do your own research on these things and you will be shocked at what you will find out. Good Luck

This is all the proof people should need to understand that the newer generation has no common sense and is totally clueless as to what is good and what is not. what will they like next? How about a Yugo or a Chrysler Le Barron? These are the same idiots who felt they needed self-driving cars and that the world would thank them for that. The reason you can find them in junkyards is because that's where these Azteks belong. They are heinous and not reliable and they perform like crap. Extremely poorly built. They were disposable cars like a Bic lighter. Loaded with mostly cheap plastic parts all over them. People were ashamed to be seen in one of these cars because they were that ugly. It figures that the newer generation would like these things. The newer generation grew up hiding in their rooms in the dark all day. They never came out unless they were forced to go to school and then they immediately got in their mother's cars when their mothers came to pick them up from school every day. They don't even know how to drive and they chose this catastrophe to represent their generation. The world has gone to hell and I don't see this generation surviving for very long. They have zero common sense and really bad taste in everything they like. I'm sure that junkyards will be extremely happy to hear about this new trend. It won't be long before they start to charge these younger idiots thousands of dollars for whatever cheap plastic parts that haven't rotten away yet.

I'll buy any new car that doesn't come with all kinds of electronic sensors and unnecessary electronic parts all over it. It's all the electronic parts that they started putting in all the newer cars built today that make all the newer cars worthless to me. I think you would be a complete fool to get suckered into buying one of these newer cars. I want a car that I can work on myself and you can't do that with any of the newer cars they are building today. That's why I will keep driving my 90s-built car till the day I die. I refuse to let carmakers extort money from me with all their poorly built cars that are designed to break down after 5 years and cost you many thousands of dollars to keep driving it. So if Pontiac decides to fill their car cars up with electronic safety features I can promise you I will never even consider buy one.

That plant operated from 1963 to 1982 as a GM plant, then from 1984 to 2010 as a joint venture (NUMMI) with Toyota and today Tesla assembles vehicles there. When it was under GM's rule, it was a horrid plant. It was rife with labor problems, drug abuse, absenteeism and alcohol abuse, among other vices. It was said, "If you want it, you can get it at Fremont". One time a foreman spotted about 300 front ends left loose on purpose. When they got a hold of who did it, he said that he was getting back at the foreman for writing him up for drinking on the job. Toyota hired most of the original Fremont workers back with the promise that they would lose their old Fremont ways of thinking and dry up. It did work as Toyota straightened them out. I've called it "Freaky Fremont". That plant, Van Nuys and Southgate were the worst three in the GM system at the time. Southgate closed in 1982 and Van Nuys in 1992.
