    I could watch a whole hour of this content. I loved how they presented the Bandit car with the truck and the Smokey on his tail. Great stuff.

    My Father started out his work life making $6000 dollars salary as a mechanical engineer in 1966. By 1969 he would have been making maybe $7500. So a car that cost $2800 new would have been a major purchase for the average working man.

      Indeed! Sounds cheap now, but it was rather expensive then!!!

      true. I started in 1990 making $14,500 and bought a new Silverado Sport for $15,500. My parents told me I was insane to spend that kind of money on a pick up.

      @@BBBILLY86and now a fully loaded half ton is around 100k. Crazy I tell you. I believe the 454 SS silverados had a starting price around 19 or 20k.

      Yeah, I remember trying to tell my Dad in '72 he should double down and get a Pantera istead of that Chrysler. TEN THOUSAND DOLLARS! Hahaha.

    I went to the Trans Am Nationals in 2023... awesome show! While my cars weren't there, I do own a 1968 Firebird 400 and a 1971 Firebird Trans Am 455HO. Thanks for your informative videos... especially liked the story of the bird logos for first and second generation Firebirds. Keep up the great channel content!

    Amazing story. I was at the show, but I didn't know the background story.

      Yeah, it's pretty amazing. '69 was such a great time for cars. So many people bought/drove vehicles that were just daily drivers at the time, but never realized how special they would become. My dad's first new car he ever bought was a '69 Camaro 350. Frost Green with a white canvas top. I always thought it was such a cool car.
      I'm glad some folks like Bob in this video realized the value of what they had and preserved them!

    My dad bought his 69 trans am for $2800 in 1978. We have a similar story with all the old pictures. It too was a family car til the mid eighties. I still own the car.

    Wow, this changed my life. This video was so inspirational to me. I would love to see more of this because it lead me to a better life. God speed brother🤟. Love to all
    Side note, I just wanted to add that this video gave me the confidence to finish my life’s work. I have been trying to personify my car for years. Yes that’s right, I want my car to be walking and talking just like a human. I’ve gotten so close and am now married to my car. She’s and oldie but a goodie. Me and my van have adopted RC cars and are living a beautiful life in Florida. I just want you to know that nothing is impossible with the power of love. Keep going no matter how hard, if you really care, you will get there. Please share this video to anyone struggling with their cars and need motivation. Again much love.❤

    Bringing it back. The videos right after you said that are TAs built on a Camaro subframe by Trans Am World

    • @OriginalMotorCar
      @OriginalMotorCar  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yep, Firebird and Camaro share the same subframe and most of the sheet metal as well. Doors and roods were identical. Hoods, fenders and quarterpanels had some differences, but they were basically the same bodies.

    I get the lack of enthusiasm for the car culture with todays younger people… My oldest was perfectly happy bopping around in his beater Civic… NO interest in classic or performance cars. As his younger brother approached driving age, he actually expressed interest in a used Gen III Camaro, which we purchased and limped home with a ragged out 355 under the hood. But as soon as the hood was lifted off, he was gone… enthusiasm left the chat. At 21, I purchased a nice used ‘76 Trans Am, black n gold, last year for the single round headlight and “400” on the shaker instead of 6.6L. Oooffff…. The ONE I wish I had back. Bought for a paltry $1600, at a local Chevy dealership.

    What I find funny is thinking back at a '69 Z/28 that the local mechanic dragged out. Big N50's with air shocks. I can hear him slipping that clutch trying to get some rpms up to burn out. Horrible.

    I'm a Chevy fan always have all way s will be but I'd rather have a 77 to 79 TA than a z28 of the same years but to me Burt Reynolds helped the sale of TAs
